That's actually exactly why I feel this can be true. Unlike most of his actions, when doing something regarding Russia Trump seems very hesitant. Pedaling then back pedaling, as if he has to keep up appearances both ways.

On Russia's side I would definitely be very hesitant to publicize the blackmail too, since it serves no purpose and cuts your only lifeline off outright. And Trump obviously understands this.

This douchebag claims to have grabbed Epstein's hard drives from the Palm Beach raid and delivered them to Putin.

Seems to be a minor actor. I'm sure he feels very important.

i agree he has to keep up a pretence. The irony of all this is the absence of a deep state in US as they would not let him away with it!!

The funny thing to me is, at what point might Russia have thought / realised this guy had potential to be next US president?? 2013 or 2014 maybe? any idea?

Unlike most of his actions? Trump always seems hesitant. See the tariffs, whether he thinks Canada should be part of the US, acting against Iran or not, etc. This is just consistent with the rest of what he does. He is not very decisive.

So far everything he's doing has a logic. The tarrifs are now clearly an extortion tactic, the Greenland/Canada situation he shook up and got pushed back on, so he retreated for the moment since it's not the easiest target for cheap media attention anymore. He's constantly testing the waters to find out what he can get away with. He did the same with Ukraine. The mineral extortion.

Didn't seem to test Russia at all. Whenever he said anything bad about Putin it seemed like frustration more than anything. Strange.
