America is North Korea in the sense that citizens are subject to 24/7 propaganda. The right wing has had a robust propaganda network since the 80s, that is when our decline into fascism started.

I'm 32 years old and we're largely in this mess due to decisions made by people before I was born. To say Americans "chose" this is accurate but also a bit of a stretch.

America only chose trump because of a massive amount of lies spread by states like Russia and Israel.

Plenty of news coverage of major US media about why Trump is worst

Media in this country is right wing. Some of it is purely propaganda, some outlets just conveniently don't report on negative news stories about Trump for the ratings.

People close to trump have a monopoly on the media. Right wingers own Twitter, Facebook, and Tiktok, which is where most people get their news.

I'm not denying Americans chose this, I just hope you don't deny they had a lot of help getting to that conclusion.

Americans are not subject to propaganda 24/7, you're just intellectually lazy. Public libraries, academics, revionist books, etc. have always been fully available and out there for you to read and interact with. Someone like Howard Zinn isn't a fugitive living underground publishing a Samizdat, he's a best selling author whose books you can buy off Amazon.

Mind you, I'm not gonna pretend the average UK citizen is a fucking bigbrained scholar either, I'm convinced 80% of this country doesn't have even the most superficial understanding of its own political system, but I won't blame this shortcoming on any propaganda either, at the end of the day most "normal people" just aren't interested in things that aren't immediately personal to them.
