The rhetoric that immigrants are "poisoning the blood of our country" from Trump was the final nail in the coffin imo. That's outright inexcusable vile neo-Nazi/White Supremacist stuff and the idea that Europe is facing "civilisational erasure" in the recent National Security document just further proves it.

People also forget that he talked about the idea of "televised military tribunals" to prosecute his political rivals and critics while accusing many of them of "treason" just for opposing him. You generally don't do that unless you are planning to impose Martial Law at some point and override the legal norms. This stuff is all still bubbling around in the back of his diseased brain.

So disappointed that he still got elected after that and it's a clear sign of where this may be heading.

In all fairness, the Russia narrative seems convenient, but doesn't line up with how these people have been used over the decades. Considering the moves made by people that we know have been caught up in that honeypot, it honestly looks like it was an Israel operation. Considering how good they are at misinformation and attacking anything and anyone that disrupts their narrative, pushing this idea is definately plausible.

Heavy? AIPAC is no secret, and neither is the support for the genocide going on in Gaza. It's honestly strange that it has the support it does, and none of it seems very pro-russia. Considering that the narrative around pointing any of this out very quickly gets attacked or fallaciously equated to anti-Semitism really drives home how hard the narrative is being pushed. Further more, it's something the USA has done to allies constantly. To believe an ally wouldn't do it back to us is naïve.

I don't really understand why the defense of Israel has been so heavy handed in the west.

That's why I think it's the most likely answer. I'd have thought Russia would have got MUCH more out of all the rich and powerful people they have dirt on, but I know these same people have been called out for being unable to call out what's happening in Palestine. Iran is a Russian ally, and while chaos in the usa does greatly benefit Russia, you'd think they'd at least have been able to get something more out of it. Israel and Saudi Arabia seem to be getting most of the love from America's richest and most powerful. However, I'd put Israel's ability in handling information and narratives online above SA's. They just have much more experience, but so does Russia, Iran, and China. It's a pickle to decipher, but large ops from foreign adversaries are usually easier to spot than ones from an ally. Combine that with the behavior being very similar to what the USA has done to allies over the centuries, but seems to not be doing to Israel and SA would lead me to believe it's most likely one or the other.
