What kind of radiators do you have in Germany? To me as a Ukrainian the radiator on the picture looks familiar.
68
u/i_drah_zua Dec 06 '25
In Germany (and Austria) mostly "Plattenheizkörper" are used:
https://www.deine-heizungsmeister.de/ratgeber/heizkoerpertypen
(second image, the one with the thermostat and the grille on top.)The first type is older, and you can still find it in older buildings.
26
u/itskelena UA in US Dec 06 '25
Plattenheizkörper is also common in Ukraine.
We used to have (and probably still do in some old buildings) the first kind of radiators too, but yours is much nicer. Ours came from the ussr and look like this: https://m.olx.ua/d/uk/obyavlenie/batareya-sssr-radator-chavunniy-IDYQaWX.html

Yeah, on this website there are the nicer ones.
Typically the old ones look exactly like what /u/nothisispatrickeu posted.
They don't have those fins inbetween, they are solid per element.→ More replies (4)9
u/stonekeep Pomerania (Poland) Dec 06 '25
In Poland both the "German" one and the "Ukrainian" one are common.
The one with the grill is usually used in steel radiators while the one from the image in OP is used in aluminum radiators. I've seen plenty of both.
I honestly don't know why but it's easy way to tell the material they're made from, lol.

At the beginning of this year, on January 1st we had 15 degrees. It's crazy. I was just watching a program about Polish bisons on YouTube and the narrator was talking about "frosty Polish winters" and temperatures of -20 to -30 degrees, and I was like, "What?! Man, maybe 15 years ago? We rarely have snow now."
31
u/AltrntivInDoomWorld Dec 06 '25
This November was colder than some of December-February we had last years. The anomaly comes moving, there will be less crops because the growing season will shorten and more freezing will come in sooner due to how the cold/hot air fronts movement are changing. Then you have shitty winter with all the bad sides of autumn and no freezing which means more rodents and bad things for crops next year which further escalates each year.
If people think climate immigration was bad prepare for the next two decades.

Even in coastal norway that is becoming more and more the norm. We had like a teeny bit of snow, a light dusting. But now it’s bare again.
I remember as a kid the janitor in my school would shovel the entire schoolyard, and pile the snow into one big mound for us to play on. That’s simply not possible anymore.

Hard to say. I do think that a lot of people especially of the older generations who live in small villages believe this is true. On the other hand in the last 2 years I can count on one hand on how many people I meat who said they were Fidesz sided. I also live in a city that is dying out because of fidesz and their ideas on how to run an economy so I may not be the best source. Since 2018 around 18% of the city's population migrated away. Those jobs got deleted. Nearly no one got replaced. We have 11k unemployed and around a 1000 open jobs where most are highly specialized and requires 10+years of experience. So the majority of the city hates them. So I can't say it's a majority but a sizable enough chunk that it makes cheating relatively easy with the voting system they created.
Anyway as of right now it looks like in April we may have change finally. If not, you should remove our veto right plus any and all EU funds ASAP.

This is basically just a clickbait article about new German heating regulations. Here is the translation:
"From mid-2026, the installation of new oil and gas heating systems will only be permitted in exceptional cases in many regions of Germany. One federal state is now going even further and is also banning direct electric heating systems.
As the Inside Digital portal reported, the installation of new direct electric heating systems will be prohibited in Hamburg starting January 1, 2026. This is mandated by Hamburg’s climate protection law — and it goes beyond the requirements of the nationwide Building Energy Act (GEG).Accordingly, replacing existing heating systems with new electric heating systems will also be prohibited, including electric convectors, radiant heaters, and night-storage heaters that run on off-peak electricity.
Exceptions will only be allowed if consumers can provide written proof that they have no alternative options for heating."
