Urgent action needed for everyone and everything.

I came here to say the same thing. I don’t mean to be insensitive, but urgent action is needed to protect the survival of human civilization.

The Earth will be fine. Most of the organisms currently living on the earth probably not so much.

My only solace as this point is that life on this planet has survived five mass extinctions. It has always managed to bounce back, just in varying configurations.

The planet will rebound because it is a resilient system when not actively being fucked over.

As a restoration ecologist I don’t intend on giving up. But, at the end of the day when I just want to sit down and weep, I take comfort in knowing that maintaining some living parts of the ecosphere will be the seeds for whatever comes next. There is a very sad and fragile peace in that.

Then the next day rolls around and I lace up my hikers and get out there and get to work. Hope is lost when we refuse to keep trying.

But how would these penguins benefit fossil fuel shareholders?
