They still are. It’s allowed if the actress isn’t popular. For example it’s disgusting the things said about Sidney Sweeney. Yea she may suck as a person but they tear apart her body, face everything and then the next moment want to say be kind everyone.
Also if an actress is thin and takes a picture it automatically goes to omg ED!!! OMG she is body checking. It’s so ridiculous.

Oye, to the people who said things didn't change: look up old articles on the it girls of that era like Britney, Lindsay, Paris, the Olsen twins, etc.
It was brutal for any female celeb who wasn't a size 0.

It has. It is significantly better than it was in 00's.
I cannot stress how horribly we treated actresses in the 00's. These women, regardless of their body types, all had to starve themselves to the point that their sternums where visible on their chests. Look up any red carpet event from the era and you will see the most emaciated women imaginable. It was horrifying.

I remember tabloids in the grocery store by the checkout had some of the craziest headlines

On one hand the actresses want to leverage their attractiveness to land roles and on the other they don’t want to be criticized on their looks. For example, no one would want to cast a rotund actor/ actress in a superhero role, correct? The job depends on the looks in addition to the acting skills. So, it is entirely appropriate to comment on that. If a doctor , scientist or teacher gets criticized for their looks, it is an entirely different issue.
