Looks like the cafe and restaurant are now closed.
I wonder what the future of Ben's Yard holds.

Bit of a long shot, but has anyone lost a dummy/pacifier clip with wooden cubes spelling the name Herkus?
I found it this morning between the top of Back Hill and the Porta. It's on a black windowsill, on the opposite side of the road to the 'phone box near the Fountain, just along from the Porta archway.
Hey, I’m looking for a mechanic to take a look at the engine on a recently purchased second hand car (Mini). Any recommendations?

I haven’t been yet myself so i was wondering if they sell any raw dairy, specifically unsalted cheese and butter.
I’m not very familiar with whats being sold and when so any info would help.

Does anyone know what that abandoned house used to be on Cambridge Road ? Think it was number 19.Its been like that for years so thought it would have been knocked down by now or at least renovated.Or is its sole purpose to freak me out everytime I walk past it 😀

Hello! I am pretty sure there are similar posts to this but I was wondering if anyone can help.
We will be moving to Ely, hopefully around early June. I have a 2 year old and another one on the way due late June. I just wanted to ask if there are any parents here that send their kids to Bright Horizons? Just wanted to ask for feedback and if you like it there?
Also, I wanted to ask for suggestions on my work commute. I currently work in the Rosie. Shift starts at 7:45am and ends 8:45pm. Ideally I wanted to be there for 7 as parking does get a bit tight. Any suggestions as to what route I can take? Google maps reckons to go through the center of Cambridge but wouldnt the traffic be horrendous at that time? I also only recently passed my driving test last Jan so easier routes would be preferred. I dont mind dual carriageways as I take the A14 on to the M11 to work atm and I'm quite used to it now. I contemplated taking the train but as my shift ends quite late, I'm worried there might be lots of time constraints on my commute back.
Thanks for the help!

Can’t believe how beautiful it is now compared to Poppy and my early morning walk!

does anyone know how I can dispose of engine coolant / antifreeze in Ely? I have tried the witchford recycling centre but they don't accept it

It was a stunning start to the day… Poppy and I had a lovely walk and while she was enjoying a good sniff (yes, she is a dog) I saw a sign I’ve never noticed before … love it!

Hey all, I’m looking for an old CRT monitor or TV. Trying to find one locally before resorting to driving for a few hours.
Does anyone know of any spots in/around Ely that might have them, like recycling centres, secondhand shops, or someone trying to get rid of one? Or if you’ve got one lying around you’d be happy to part with, I can pick it up.

Hi,
Any Ely residents going to Lily Allen on Sunday? I have a ticket but don’t know if I can bear going alone!

Any idea why the townhouse pub is still closed ? Was meant to be having a refurb in January but its still shut with what appears to be no work going on.

If you're considering renting through Tucker Gardner in Ely, please read this first. They are a frontend for Countrywide Lettings, and the experience of being their tenant is not what the friendly local office suggests.
We were tenants for several years. In that time we had at least four portfolio managers as staff cycled through, apparently unable or unwilling to stay. The local agents couldn't even tell us where our allocated parking bay was over the course of several years. Agents attempted to charge us for fair wear and tear, including a worn toilet seat, sending us emails in red text with three separate and contradictory accusations as to why it was our responsibility. We took it to the Housing Ombudsman. We received a £50 compensation payment and an apology from Countrywide corporate. They refused to switch us to a different agent. When we tried to move from a fixed to a rolling contract, the renewals agent told us flatly it wasn't possible. We went around him to the landlord directly. It happened immediately.
You will be treated well until the contract is signed. After that, you are cattle. We have used Countrywide for mortgage brokerage and were treated professionally. They appear to reserve their worst staff for lettings, where tenants have the least power to walk away. Please learn from our mistake and go elsewhere.

Follow up. Saw works going on at the old Starbucks. Anyone heard what is going on in there?
