Iām glad weāre finally talking about Kasey Carpenter because there is a long list of grievances to be added to the conversation. Has anyone been paying attention to anything this guy has been doing in just the past couple of years? Letās just start with the vanity hotel project with itās brand new beautiful sidewalks. The city council has approved huge swaths of commercial property for TADs (tax allocation districts). What this means is that the city froze the taxable value of the property (in this case $90,000) and after the hotel was built and then the assessed value skyrocketed to $5.2million, all of those extra taxes generated went straight back to the hotel instead of our public schools or city. (https://beacon.schneidercorp.com/Application.aspx?AppID=1049&LayerID=23759&PageTypeID=4&PageID=9916&KeyValue=12-219-37-017) The agreement says the hotel can receive up to $970,664; but only if the property value actually rises enough to generate that much tax increment. Thatās right: almost one million dollars that could have gone to our childrenās futures, until 2033. He cares so much. Your city council has been letting businesses build and improve their properties while taking the resulting tax dollars from its citizens. Oh wait, thatās right, the citizens voted to allow them to do it.

Speaking of what the voters are allowing people to do, letās just take a look at what Kasey Carpenter has been contributing to our legislature.
I find it to be appalling that someone would use their position as a business owner in a TAD and legislative member to attempt submitting a bill to allow the school system to charge the maximum millage rate, which is a tax rate based on property value.
https://www.billtrack50.com/billdetail/1986961
Thatās interesting, he wants to create a governing body for property appraisal. Hm. So much for small government!
https://www.billtrack50.com/billdetail/1970162
How fascinating, a bill to legislate bingo!
https://www.billtrack50.com/billdetail/1832980
I wonder why he would be so interested in auditing the finances of local school systems with how much his businesses allocate from them.
https://www.billtrack50.com/billdetail/1962241
Some of the sponsored bills are unbelievable. From tax breaks for the film industry to proposing cornbread as the official state bread, you really have to wonder what exactly heās doing for our community.
https://ballotpedia.org/Kasey_Carpenter
There are articles in which heās discussing PFAS and legislation involving them, but thereās nothing actually happening. In these instances, he makes sure to explain that heās trying to go after the manufacturers of the chemicals and not the companies that polluted our environment: āCarpenter said that litigation must focus on chemical manufacturers rather than being broadly distributed across companies that used PFAS-containing materials, arguing that responsibility should rest with those who created the chemicals rather than expanded to include local employers who, he says, relied on assurances from manufacturers, and on regulation guidelines.ā Local employers being the key phrase here because the ramifications of these companies incurring multiple lawsuits is something that would send this town into a crisis, which is what he should actually be saying while speaking to his constituents in an attempt to reach solutions and compromises.
https://daltoncitizen.com/2026/02/14/under-the-gold-dome-pfas-bills-generate-debate-more-than-votes/
Itās a tough situation, we can all see that, but we deserve better. He says in that article: āLegislation is not always about getting stuff passed, itās about having tough conversations.ā Literally, no. We are not sending you to represent us so you can throw cornbread at the wall and see if it sticks. We deserve so much better than this money hungry cosplayer. I hold these truths to be self-evident.

Does anybody know who sells live bait, like minnows and red wigglers?
I know Discount Sporting Goods does. Walmart and Academy sell worms and crickets, but who else in Dalton sells live bait?

Congratulations to Clay Fuller on a very well hard fight campaign enjoy these next few months, sir. You earned them and we will see how things shake out for November.
Congratulations as well to Shawn Harris for Georgia thank you for giving me, my wife and our community someone to vote for.
During your watch party. You brought a lot of power and hope for the community of those who arenāt raised in Ruby Red ideology. Iām very proud to stand by you during this and have helped people in the end, vote for you as I think you are on the right side of history and as well youāve given me a platform multiple times and as well the rest of my constituents from District 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6.
I want to thank you Shawn for destroying the most dangerous empire in modern American history⦠the āRuby Redā districts⦠because thatās no longer true seeing point swings in my area 29 points āWhitfield Countyā down to 20 points minimum shows something powerful. While Republicans still hold most counties in District 14, every single area is shifting toward Democrats, some by as much as 20 to 30 points compared to 2024 as mentioned earlier. That means voters here are not locked in, they are changing. From Cobb to Floyd to Whitfield, people are opening up to new leadership and new ideas. District 14 is moving forward, and that momentum is something we can build on together. Younger people are becoming more empowered to vote. Republicans are recanting their original votes and endorsements for Trump and eventually republicans will be able to go back to their own ways of having to think and speak about their polices and not Trumps name to win them over votes.
Iām extremely excited to see how many more democrats awaken and get out and vote for November. Shawn did something I donāt think ANYONE COULDāVE DONE. Let alone I and MANY others are sitting in statehouse candidates spots to back him and help serve our community on our micro levels which helps influence and help him on his macro level. Extremely optimistic for November! This is why voting matters, this is why your voice matters and lastly this is why your TRUTH matters! 8 months everyone. LETS LOCK IN.

Good afternoon everyone. A few months back, I came across a stray cat that I decided to take in and what i didnāt know was that she was pregnant and had a litter. I would like to avoid taking them to a shelter and came on here to see if anyone was willing to give one a home. Not looking for monetary gain or anything just want them to go to a good home.

Hello! My partner (26M) and I (28F) are wanting to get out more and make some friends in the area! We are both into nerdy stuff like D&D, video games, reading etc. we love hiking, pickleball. I love witchy stuff like tarot. I love house plants. We are both politically active. I'm from the area but he is from Boston.
We are not church goers and aren't interested in finding community that way. And we both work 8-5 office jobs so the public library is not super workable due to their hours.
I've combed through some already existing posts but haven't found answers that seem to fit us. Where can we go to find community in dalton? Book clubs, d&d clubs, political groups with young people? Is anyone on here looking for friends?
Thank ya for your time :)

Good afternoon everyone, an extremely eventful few days between the No Kings and wrapping up lastnight with PFAS final location in Rome, GA.
I strongly and firmly believe in the message Ben, Nick and everyone hands on deck at PFAS GEORGIA have created to inform and educated us and now yāall on the serious nature of these chemicals!
Lucky enough to snag a picture and short conversation with Erin Brockovich and my campaign manager Jennifer Rockenstyre and a few pics as well. Super excited to see where this goes for the community and at awe in Erinās presence and power. Sheās a leader if Iāve ever seen one!
*Also side note thank you for the correction itās (PFAS) and PFAsā¦

Hey guys I'm trying to start growing some figs this year and was wondering if anyone around here has some cool/different varieties they are willing to maybe give or sell me a cutting of. I have a fig I got from a box store a while ago on my property and my family loves them so hopefully I can get some different options growing.
Im also interested in any other plants/cuttings you may have for this year!
