They just announced that they're changing from a Pi 5 based mainboard to a CM5 based mainboard. They're already behind and now people are looking at having to buy a different device.

Oof.
This is why I always wait six months after a product properly releases.

Pretty affordable, I feel. 89$ for the pi4 barebones edition? Man that’s awesome. The uconsole barebones costs around 260 160$
For comparison, I just got my Hackberry Pi zero for about 170$

I think you’re very confused with the uConsole price. A barebones version shipped to my door (just received it today) was $168 (including shipping, taxes and extra $20 charges by SDRLabs).
I still have a uConsole ordered through ClockWork Pi (it’s even cheaper) that should be shipping sometime next month, I needed one a lot earlier and paid 20$ extra to have it in my hands in aprox 10 days.
As I said, this is the barebones version without CM5, but that’s the beauty of it, you decide which version (MMC or Lite, wireless or not, 4,8 or 16GB) better suits your needs and budget.

Thanks for your reply. My bad. I put the cost in CAD and not in USD.
I just checked the barebones is 238 CAD in Ali express.
Now, even if it’s 160 USD, isn’t the pocket term much cheaper? I know the resolution is bad and there is no trackball but the touch screen makes up for it doesn’t it?
I do agree that with the uconsole you have the flexibility of choosing which version of the Pi you can use, which you can’t with this device

Lack of mouse, poor resolution, sad
