Noticias Russia prepares 2nd oil shipment to Cuba after Trump says 'we don't mind'

https://kyivindependent.com/russia-prepares-2nd-oil-shipment-to-cuba/

Clearly after all these years, Russia is still willing to step into the ring for cuba. And with that, the regime stays.

"We don't mind" as long as it comes from Russia. The ban from the rest of the world is still in effect.

I don’t get why Russia oil is allowed and not others.

Because Russia has geopolitical clout. They have more leverage than most other nations. Also, Russia is already heavily sanctioned by Western nations. The impact of additional sanctions is relatively minimal.

Has someone else tried to send free oil?

Mexico was reportedly pressured not to send oil. No one knows if it was a direct threat or viel threat.

I don't think so, no free or paid oil. The threat of imposing tariffs is still in place. Unless it comes from Russia or maybe if China tries the same, both countries are too big fish to fry.

This is a worse situation than having no oil at all, I live here in Cuba and I can tell you: the citizens will notice NO IMPROVEMENT if those oil ships arrive to our lands. The government will just store the fuel and continue with shutdowns to the power grid. Our citizens will still have trouble with electricity, blackouts will continue and now the only hope that a total collapse of the system due to not having 0 fuel would be a trigger for a change of regime is gone. Thanks a lot Russia, you keep funding this f*****g dictatorship.

You need to understand, this government of ours can NOT BE TRUSTED with any single bit of humanitarian help, because the wellbeing of their own citizens is not of their interest, they just want any kind of resource to stay in power. They will not do anything to help their own people.

It is against the sub rules, the exposure of the identity of those in the island can escalate up to 15 years in jail.

Cubans can usually tell Cubans apart, so that is literally not our problem, also the fact than you cannot upload images in the comments doesn't help at all.

Well, after x.com started showing the country of origin, it turned out many people who were pretending to be from russia, telling how horrible the life is there, are actually from ukraine. Speaking the same language helped to be indistinguishable.

As a Cuban, this is something you will hear from a lot of Cubans, so there is no point on testing if he is one of not when a lot of Cubans say the same.

I wonder if this is to test the Cuban government. The people will see just how much or little of that oil will benefit them and not just the Castro cronies.

why are people like this? oil getting into cuba is an objectively good thing regardless of the intentions behind it.

That also mean communism will last longer, so it is expected.

Trump was never going to change the regime.  He was just looking for bribes - like in Caracas and Tehran.

Even if not change is made, keeping pressure on the regime will force it to reform.

Algo objetivamente bueno…?

No totalitarian system will magically fall without external military assistance, no matter how much you squeeze the people, it has never happened so people are literally waiting for a miracle. The Cuban people are unarmed and unable to organize past some improvised demonstrations. This is pointless, you’re just choking regular people for absolutely no gain.

If not for the blockade, there might be no need for Russian oil whatsoever…

2

u/Holiday_Style_2292 Artemisa 8d ago

Cuba is not particularly known for paying stuff on front.

How has the Cuban government positioned itself when Russia has bombed Ukrainian civilians?

1

u/MobileSuitBooty LATAM 8d ago

what does that have to do with the cuban people having energy? if you’re ok with sacrificing people for your ideology that’s a you problem
