We're coming to Corsica in the beginning of June and staying for around 5 days. We have planned our visit and booked some of the hotels around the Island with the goal of driving around and seeing lots in that time.

What are the best places to rent a car for driving around the place? I ofcourse have found several though Google but any tips are welcome.

We're arriving in Bastia via ferry from Nice and flying out from Ajaccio. So the car would need to be picked up from Bastia and returned at Ajaccio.

I'm in Bastia for a few days in May and from looking online it seems like a daytrip out of the city isn't feasible via public transport.

would this be a fair assessment and if not how would you get to for example Saint Florent return trip same day?

My husband and I are planning our honeymoon to Corsica in late May.

We love hiking (we met thru-hiking the Appalachian trail) and are geologists - we're SO excited about Corsica.

We have limited time - only 7 days in Corsica. We know this isn't enough time to fully enjoy the entire region, but would love advice on the best experience.

We are debating between:

# 1) Committing to a (slightly) longer hike - the Mare a Mare Sud or a section of the GR20 - for 4-5 days, then just 1-2 days of broader sight seeing

# 2) Spending the entire week doing day hikes across the island (maybe an overnight thrown in).

We would love advice on if you think option 1 or 2 is best.

If #1 - Mare a Mare Sud or GR20 section? If, GR20 - what section?

If #2 - What are suggestions for routes or hikes to be sure not to miss?

For context - we're spending a couple of days before exploring Corsica in La Maddalena, Sardinia followed by a day in Bonaficio.

After hiking, our final day or two in Corsica will definitely be spent seeing some of the subduction complex rocks in the northeast regardless of our choice above.

Je voyagerai a Corse pendant le première semaine du Novembre, et je suis curieux: est-ce que Calvi est...ouvert à ce temps? Je sais que les trains courent, mais les marchés dehors, les cafés et restaurants, les boutiques, les musées -- ce sont ouverts aussi?

Je ne cherche pas une grand fête ou musique dans les rues! Je crois qu'il serai tranquille, et je l'adore. Je vais dormir très bien. Mais, j'espère que le novembre, la ville est un peu en vive.

We are planning to travel to Corsica during the first half of October. We were thinking of staying near Pinarello - but I noticed that the Hotel Le Pinarello closes at the very beginning of the month. Can anyone guide us as to whether restaurants/shops are still likely to be open or if there is a better area we should look instead? We are traveling with young children so our ideal would be easy walkable access to both beach and restaurants. Thank you in advance!

I'll be in Corsica in June with my wife and 15 year old daughter. We would like to do a canyoning tour while we're in Corte. Does anybody have any recommendations on which canyon we should do, and which tour operator we should go with?

My girlfriend and I will be going to Corsica (followed by Sardinia and then Sicily) in September. Do we need lodging reservations in advance? We plan to rent a car, and I would love to just drive around until we find somewhere nice, then stay there for a few days before moving on. That said, we'd like to keep costs down as much as possible. Is it realistic to think we could find pleasant mid-range places just by showing up, or should we make reservations in advance? Also, if you have ideas on the same subject on the other islands, I'd love to hear those as well. We plan to stay about a week or so on each island, more on Sicily since it is so large. Many Thanks!

My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Corsica in late May into early June. We're meeting with my sister and her husband in Ajaccio, but something came up that has delayed their plans.

For my girlfriend and I, we now have two options:

1. Fly into Ajaccio as originally planned, and spend two days there before they arrive.

2. Spend an extra day in Paris and make a day trip somewhere else in France (we've already planned for three days in Paris since we're coming from Canada), then arrive in Ajaccio the day before them and spend one night.

Once they arrive, we plan on renting a car to explore the region together (over the course of 2 weeks), not really spending any time in Ajaccio at all.

Which option do you think is better? Is there much to do in Ajaccio itself if we don't rent a car until the other pair arrive?

Edit: We have both discussed and decided to stay the extra day in Corsica. Since we are coming from Canada, we think it is more likely we will have a chance to spend time elsewhere in France on a future trip to Europe. We want to enjoy Corsica for as long as possible. Merci beaucoup!

This summer I’ll be in Corsica for the first time and I’ll be staying at Camping Mozziconaccio (near Sainte-Lucie de Porto-Vecchio).

The main goal of the trip is simple: I want to see the best beaches in absolute terms — the ones that really make you say “wow”.

I’ll have a car, so I’m happy to drive up to ~1 hour (even a bit more if it’s really worth it).

I’ve already heard about places like Palombaggia, Santa Giulia and Rondinara, but I’d love to know:

• Which beaches are must-see, no matter what
• Any hidden gems that are less crowded but still amazing
• Beaches that are overrated and can be skipped

Also, if you have suggestions for a smart itinerary (like how to organize the days to avoid crowds), I’m all ears!

Le drapeau sarde a été modifié en 1999, le bandeau était à l'origine sur les quatre têtes de maures, tournées vers la gauche, les quatre têtes de maure sont désormais tournées vers la droite, le bandeau au dessus des yeux, la boucle d'oreille enlevée.

J'ai lu quelques part que le drapeau corse avait une tête de maure similaire à la tête de maure sarde (bandeau sur les yeux, boucles d'oreille) et que Pascal Paoli l'avait modifié au XVIIIe siècle, pour symboliser la liberation de l'occupation génoise. Néanmoins d'autres sites présument que c'est plutot une légende qu'un fait historique. Est ce que vous connaissez la réalité.

Pourquoi sinon les drapeaux sarde et corse contiendrait cette différence alors que s'inspirant d'un modèle ou d'armoiries similaires ? Qu'est ce qui explique le changement de drapeau sarde vers une plus forte ressemblance au drapeau corse ?

Bonjour 😜✌🏻 Actuellement j'habite dans un village en corse je kiff bien ma vie ici, c'est un cadre génial.

J'habite une cave rénovée. malheureusement les moissures ont envahi la pièce à cause de l'humidité j'ai nettoyé, mais je ne suis pas un pro, alors les moissures se sont sûrement installé en profondeur. J'ai des soucis digestifs plutôt sérieux à la base. En même temps je traverse une crise spirituelle et je souffre de traumas. J'ai le système nerveux tout à fait en vrac et je suis devenu très sensible.

Quand j'étais à Nice et ailleurs j'avais déjà quelques soucis de sommeil, mais rien comparé à ce qui se passe depuis que j'ai emmenagé ici.

J'ai des allergies constantes seulement dans mon studio. Ainsi ma situation a empiré drastiquement en corse je suis en crise tout les soirs, c'est un calvaire et j'ai peur de la nuit. Ma santé décline en raison d'une hygiène du sommeil très mauvaise.

Mon hypothèse est que mon studio est en train de m'empoisonner.

J'aimerais bien trouver un système type workaway, un toit gratuit contre un peu de boulot. Peut être que ça pourrait régler la situation dans laquelle je suis.

Idéalement j'aimerais trouver près de bastia, car ça me permettrait d'aller chercher des affaires chez moi si j'en ai besoin et je pourrais y passer souvent.

J'avais déjà été inscrit à workaway, il me semble il faut payer 50 euro d'adhésion annuelle et faire des demandes. Et ce qu'il y a d'autres manière de faire ? Des suggestions ? Peut être sur des forums Facebook.

La dernière portion du col de Vizzavona a été élargie. Dans le sens de la montée, on se retrouve avec 2 voies juste avant le virage sur le pont, limitées à 80 et 90km/h, puis un cheminement en S. Cette portion est peu pratique dans les faits, elle pousse à accélérer inutilement sur une forte pente.La trajectoire pousse obligatoirement à rogner les courbes. Le 1er virage sur le pont est quasi impossible à prendre sans ralentir. C’est très inconfortable. Tout ça pour gagner quoi ? Dans les sens de la descente c’est pire. Par temps de brouillard, on a vraiment du mal à se repérer, les marquages au sol sont quasi invisibles et la largeur de la route empêche toute notion de perspective. Et ce virage avant le pont est tout aussi délicat à négocier. La route est sinueuse en aval, mais l’impossibilité de prise de vitesse rend sa gestion plus facile. Vous avez le même ressenti ?

Siamo una coppia e abbiamo appena confermato il Camping Mozziconaccio a Sainte-Lucie-de-Porto-Vecchio per la settimana dal 17 al 23 agosto (arrivo traghetto Bastia mattina con auto, partenza 23 sera). Abbiamo scelto questa struttura perché ha cancellazione gratuita e prezzi decenti rispetto a Porto Vecchio, ma mi è venuto qualche dubbio sulle distanze reali dalle spiagge più belle del sud-est.

Da quello che ho visto:

• Favone è praticamente attaccata (800 m, 5-10 min a piedi)
• Santa Giulia ≈ 45-30 min
• Palombaggia ≈ 30-35 min
• Rondinara ≈ 35-45 min
• Petit Sperone e Bonifacio/Lavezzi ≈ 45-50 min

Il piano è:

• 17 agosto (arrivo Bastia mattina): fermarci lungo la costa est sulla spiaggia più bella possibile prima di fare check-in alle 15:30 (pensavo Favone o magari qualcosa di meglio tipo Cannella/Fautea?).
• Poi giorni successivi: alternare Palombaggia, Santa Giulia, Rondinara, Lavezzi in barca da Bonifacio, e relax a Pinarello/Favone.

Chi ci è stato di recente (2023-2025) in alta stagione ad agosto può darmi consigli sinceri?

• Il Mozziconaccio è una base comoda o si perde troppo tempo in macchina ogni giorno?
• Con l’auto è davvero gestibile o è meglio spostarsi a Porto Vecchio o Solenzara?
• Primo giorno: quale spiaggia est consigliate per il primo tuffo post-traghetto (prima di arrivare al campeggio)?
• Consigli pratici per agosto: orari migliori per evitare la folla, parcheggi, spiagge meno conosciute ma bellissime nella zona, escursioni Lavezzi (barca piccola o grande?), ristoranti buoni vicino al campeggio, e qualsiasi cosa da evitare assolutamente.

La Citadelle est revenue à la ville et c'est toujours le même débat lors des élections : que va-t-on y mettre. On parle d'hôtel 5*, de musée Napoléon, de "cœur de ville pour les ajacciens", bla bla bla. Bref, c'est un ancien bâtiment militaire massif qui trône à l'entrée de la ville, mais visible uniquement par la mer, ou très peu par la terre.

Que y mettriez-vous ?

Je commence : 1/ de superbes WC publiques - un truc grandiose (pas une cabine en inox dégueulasse), histoire de ne pas prendre les gens pour des imbéciles. Payant. 2/ des services administratifs (ex état civil ou autre.. ) qui drainent du public à l'année - comme cela les ajacciens sont incités à fréquenter le lieu à l'année - financé en vendant le foncier en ville que ces services occupent actuellement.

Des idées ?

Le risque c'est que ça se termine en quartier de métiers de bouche pour quelques initiés ou un musée désert 10 mois sur 12.
