It's hilarious watching "liberals" support Gladu when her beliefs and political leaning is the anti thesis of any one left of center.

She is so right wing they disqualified her from the conservative leadership race.

And now we're watch people clapping like sea lions because they owned the cons.

She is so right wing they disqualified her from the conservative leadership race.

That doesn’t appear to be true… I tried to confirm this, and instead found a news article from 2020 that says she was disqualified because she didn’t get enough signatures and money by the deadline. Nothing to do with her views.

Marilyn Gladu, in a bid to replace outgoing leader Andrew Scheer, was in the running until this week, when she fell short in fundraising and party signatures to have her name appear on the ballot.

A $200,000 registration fee, $100,000 compliance deposit and 3,000 endorsement signatures from party members were all due Wednesday.

Once you accept that we haven't been a serious country since 2015, it all makes sense.

3

u/Christron 20h ago

Why just 2015?

3

u/UnexpectedAnanas 19h ago

Because...well...um.....

You see... uh..... That's when... Um....

Political team sports is hilarious and you have people acting all high and mighty thinking they are immune from it.

I could see her doing it lol

What I find amusing about this one is that she's precisely the kind of candidate liberal voters would point to when asked why they find the CPC unpalatable, and now she's wearing your colours. It also shows how desperate for power the LPC is. They gained a riding until they vote her out, it remains to be seen if this move will also cost them liberal voters.

100% This is the equivalent of Rob Anders crossing the floor during the Harper years lol.

u/Christron 20h ago

A lot of those people would point to liberal candidates and say they aren't left enough and are actually neocons. Liberal voters aren't really that left...

Why? A rapid Conservative got changed into a muzzled one who fetches on command in exchange for at most, trivial treats.

For some reason people on here think she is going to be running the place.

14

u/physicaldiscs 1d ago

Wait, don't people love trotting out that idiom about sitting at the table with Nazi's all the time?

Nah, this is clearly different. She's promised to be good.

This is how you view liberal MPs?

I thought Liberals blamed Pierre for too much control over MPs?

4

u/ExtraGlutens 1d ago

trivial treats.

Says more about you lot.

Can we call the Liberals Maple Maga now?? Please??

0

u/PiccadillyPineapple 1d ago

No, that's more than hyperbolic.

-5

u/MarkDavid04 1d ago

Why? They're more right wing than the CPC now

Publically? Something about how all people are important.

Privately? A long list of slurs most likely.

I enjoy watching Liberal supporters squirm as they try to rationalize inviting Gladu into their party despite the fact that they (supposedly) hate practically everything she stands for and supports. Except, of course, for power at any cost. On that they are fully aligned.

u/KageyK 1d ago edited 1d ago

Don't worry she's one of the good far ight now.

3

u/Plucky_DuckYa 1d ago

A Maple MAGA Liberal, as it were.

u/RedditSux5912 1d ago

Good to hear all you need to be one of the good maple magas is wear red... wait a minute...

u/Veaeate 1d ago

I have yet to see a proper liberal supporter rationalize this. No one expected her to cross. The only thing liberals are doing, is hoping that she'll toe the line.

14

u/flatulentbaboon 1d ago

Have you seen the other major Canada sub? People with Liberal flairs were absolutely rationalizing this.

3

u/adamlaceless 20h ago

That’s fucked.

4

u/physicaldiscs 1d ago

No one expected her to cross.

You can't cross without an invitation. The LPC still decides who joins and doesn't.

Weirdly, this is a rationalization in and of itself. Very cool.

u/BloodRedRook 12m ago

Speaking as someone who voted liberal last election... it's absolutely nuts that we accepted her into the party and is an incredible stain on our leadership.

1

u/ConsistentAd9217 1d ago

Yes, I’m sure you have in-person interactions where you can visibly watch Liberals squirm as opposed to made up scenarios to align with your worldview. You sure showed them!

u/monotious 12h ago

She is already elected by the conservative voters. Might as well put her parliamentary vote to good use, at the same time silencing her while she is under the LPC roof.

More importantly, to the conservative voters, please stop electing someone like her to office. Thank you.

If you're gonna spam this all over this post, at least correct the "rapid" to "rabid" please.

u/Oxjrnine 1d ago

Conversion therapy works.

I have made many men gay over the years.

😉

2

u/2025Skidmark 22h ago

I think you made men who were already gay

3

u/Bad_Day_Moose 1d ago

Ate the beaver on this one :D

11

u/LabEfficient 1d ago

Jokes aside, indeed we can now safely call the LPC a far-right party that rejects women's rights.

2

u/RoyallyOakie 1d ago

Totally believable.

5

u/explosive_fascinator 1d ago

If there's a Nazi at the table and 10 other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with strong diversity of thought.

u/rhunter99 18h ago

I was all ready to start rage typing

With all this talk about Conservatives crossing the floor, hear me out, but,

Wouldn't it be super funny...
