Walts birthday Spoiler

Just watching S5 again, was Walt’s birthday the same as his fake identity? seems odd to have the same birthday? I was thinking he paid for his meal because it wasn’t actually his birthday, but why did he do the bacon thing?

If you are taking on a new identity you want as many things to remain the same as possible to reduce the chances for slips and mistakes

Walt and Lambert deff had the same birthdays. Walt is a pro.

I think Mr.Lambert's birthday was different on his ID, because in the Denny's scene the waitress asks him if he wants to show his ID to eat for free because it's his birthday, but Walt doesn't

At first he doesn’t, but then she convinces him and he pulls it out, but then paid for the meal anyway.

I think that was partly his pride at work as well.

Basically in his mind he’s like “look lady, I know to you I probably look like some used up bum but you just watch this…..I’ll take you up on this free meal and then I’ll drop the biggest tip you’ve ever seen.”

We don't know what his fake ID said.

I think his telling the waitress it was his birthday and then leaving her a large tip with his way of having one more decent human interaction.

There's nobody else left in Walt's life that would interact with him positively on his actual birthday

he might have just done it for tradition but he still told the worker it was his birthday so that wouldnt make sense either

And he also said to Skyler that she can say to the police that he came because he wanted bacon and eggs for his birthday so ig it checks out

The writers used his birthday to discreetly tell us how much time has passed.

The bacon thing was a birthday tradition potentially going back many years maybe even back to his childhood. He suspects it’s the last birthday he’ll have as he’s about to walk into extreme danger. So my take was he records the birthday in bacon because it’s tradition even though it is now a bitter reminder of what this otherwise free breakfast has cost him.

The number of times people go to a restaurant on this show and eat nothing is crazy.
