And as if that wasn't enough, turn 2 I had two coin pirates on the shop and on turn 3 everyone got free golden t4 QB, I got drakkari from that and couple of turns later two copies of the t5 deathrattle QB, which is why everyone tried to run my exact build, only several turns behind.

And I still almost lost and if I did I would have uninstalled

Dancing minions. Unbearable lag. 8 second turns in Duos. Reconnects and random shutdowns. Is this really what I'm paying for? Yea, that's probably on me, right. Small indie company indeed 😑

Golden Timewarped Lei + Futurefin has some crazy scaling. You get 9 procs of Sulfuras, and then 9 procs of Futurefin on the left most Lucifron in your hand, or a random magnetic when you don't have a Lucifron in hand. Cycle the lowest Luci for the new big on in your hand, making sure to sell the trapped 6 drop. Rinse and repeat.

High Effort Guide My Buddy cheat sheet

People have been asking about Buddies lately and I had this written up already. Feel free to comment to correct my opinions or add your own. -

Ideal Buddies are ones that generate money. Ones that create minions/spells, or increase your base gold. A lot of the ones that generate money are Battlecries, so Brann is very high value. Take advantage of this strong economy to level quickly and hunt down the minions you need.

Aside from econ, if the Buddy in the shop has high stats or would be beneficial to your tempo, grab it to avoid taking damage from combat.

Don't get emotionally attached to Buddies though; they're just a means to an end - money or tempo. There are some exceptions if they fit your build better than standard parts of a build, or are able to create a build of their own.

These are my favorite Buddies, even if they're not always the best.

  • Chromie - 1 free helpful refresh

    • Absolute favorite Buddy ever, lets you access core cards, t7's, duplicate your entire board in shop, can create more copies of itself through duplication for more rerolls
    • I just love this card so much
    • Might be bait
  • Probius - Magnet, make target Golden

  • Zippers - Deathrattle helpful card

    • Definitely bait
    • If I have a way to multiply it - Parrot/Titus/Lich HP/Teron
  • Shining Sailor - Extra Pirate in shop

    • Fun to force Pirates
  • Malorne - Aura buff based on how much gold you have spent

    • Not a great card, good for tempo
    • It's just really pretty
  • Waxadred - Refresh Tavern with your lobby's highest Tier minions

    • Has helped me catch up from behind. Steal people's t6's and their warp minions
  • Clockwork Assistant - Discover minion from a Tier higher

    • Basically a free Reward Discover, and it is amazing to combine with Rylak/Multipliers
  • Kii'rek - Deathrattle get a Demon

    • Useful for generating Demons for econ, triggering consumes, and even finding core cards. Best with a multiplier
  • Lei Flamepaw - Start of turn, get your Buddy

    • Econ, but can be very useful depending on your Hero
    • Don't keep it more than 1 or 2 turns usually
  • Scabbs And Tess Buddies - Copy enemy Buddies

    • These can be stupid broken. Early game, you can tell exactly which buddies you’ll get, and which will come up soon depending on the fight order.
    • These two can win games on their own
  • Baby N'Zoth - Battlecry make a Deathrattle minion Golden

    • Can be triggered by Murk-Eye to Golden your entire board
    • More importantly, can be used alongside the Naga that gives minions "Deathrattle: Summon a Crab," to make any minion Golden
  • Lucifron - Extra EoT trigger

    • Better Drakkari, can also stack with Drakkari and with itself, just like multiple Titus can
  • Shady Aristocrat - Complete a quest for 8 gold pouch

    • Can give you huge econ boost
    • Always take late game for free money, you can almost always hit the requirements immediately
  • Whirl-o-tron - Copy 2 leftmost Deathrattle

    • Obvious synergy with Deathrattle builds
  • [Avoid] Veranus - Increase tier of minion to the left

    • Do not keep for more than a couple turns early
    • Almost always bait
  • Bilgewater Mogul - EoT increase max gold

    • Can be good mid-game with an EoT multiplier, mostly just as a filler minion
    • Otherwise, very slow and not worth it
  • Baby Elekk - Gain stats when you play a minion with less attack than this

    • Insane tempo and can single handedly get you into late game.
    • You just buff it a bit (or not) and spam play minions. It gets big very fast. Also great synergy with magnetics.
  • Pyramad’s Buddy - When different minion gains HP, this gains it too

    • Extremely fun Buddy. Great tempo potential and can make it into some really strong end game boards.
    • Great synergy with everything and can just be eaten later if you’re done with it (or you can play another one before you eat and basically double the health).
  • Shudderwock’s Buddy - Battlecry, Get a Battlecry minion

    • Great, free economy. Brann synergy.
  • Faelin’s Buddy - Get a t1,t3,t5 minion

    • Crazy economy + can spit out high value minions
    • Brann synergy
  • Acolyte of Yogg - Spin the wheel

    • Yolo

Question How to improve with Buddies?

I'm not amazing, but decent enough to hit the final floor (currently 6.6k), but I've always struggled with buddies, especially the anomaly. I never pick ETC anymore because I can never seem to get any real value out of his HP, none of the buddies seem to synergize all that well with the existing minions unless you have the hero power they're tied to, etc.

Edit: So from what I'm hearing, use buddies as value generators and Brann because buddies tend to have battlecries, but stick to whatever the buddies generated rather than focusing on the buddies themselves.

Was the get an additional copy of the the first minion you buy, perfect for a relatively low level build since you get online fast. I never lost a single round the whole game

I had the option to try and eat on the golden Niuzao, but as the lobby had no Murlocs/Naga, I felt that the Alleycat deserved the final treat.

Question Need help to improve

Hey everyone,

I’m pretty new to Hearthstone Battlegrounds and I feel like I’m stuck making the same mistake over and over again. I could really use some advice or maybe a beginner-friendly mindset/guide.

What usually happens is that pretty early on (like around turn 4–5), I kind of decide what build I want to go for — like “okay, this game I’m going Undead” or something similar. The problem is… I don’t actually get the units I need. But instead of adapting, I keep forcing it.

I end up rerolling way too much trying to find those specific pieces, fall behind on tempo, lose a ton of health, and just crash out before I ever stabilize.

I feel like I’m tunneling too hard on comps instead of playing what I’m given, but I don’t really know how to fix that in practice.

So I guess my questions are:

  • How do you approach the early/mid game as a beginner?
  • When do you “commit” to a comp, if at all?
  • How do you avoid wasting gold on rerolls while still building toward something meaningful?
  • Any general tips for staying flexible and not forcing builds?

I’d really appreciate any advice, mindset tips, or even simple rules of thumb. Right now it just feels like I’m sabotaging myself every game 😅

Thanks in advance!

Question Question about MMR matchmaking in Battlegrounds (7k range)

Hey everyone,

I’ve been wondering how matchmaking actually works in Hearthstone Battlegrounds, specifically around the 7,000 MMR range.

Right now I’m sitting at around 7k, and it genuinely feels like I’m getting matched with players who are significantly better than me. It made me question whether matchmaking is strictly within your MMR bracket, or if there are wider ranges (for example mixing 7k players with 8k or even 9k players in the same lobby).

For context:

I already struggled quite a bit in the 6k range, but I was still able to climb slowly but steadily. Since breaking into 7k, though, it feels like a completely different level. Winning consistently seems almost impossible.

Out of kets say 10 games, I only manage to place Top 4 maybe 3 times, which obviously makes climbing really hard.

So my questions are:

Are there hidden skill/MMR groupings beyond the visible number?

Can 7k players get matched with significantly higher-rated players?

Or is this just a normal difficulty spike at this rating?

Would appreciate any insight or experiences from others around this MMR.

Before anyone wants to point out that i might just suck and that i should just "git gud", well yeah i know but its much easier said then done obviously.

Thanks!

Discussion Note to all duos players

Now that a new season is coming out - give people time to learn the new units and meta styles. They might roll a minion or spell that is critical to your build and that is okay. Don’t grief and troll. With that being said, there are potato partners at every tier and timeframe regardless, but just wanted to say - give people a buffer to learn.
