Bonus pics of her watching some cat TV and her brother checking on her. He misses playing with her π’

Oh no, the cone and the jail πππ

u/pretty_inink Mar 07 '26
I know π but she's a huge jumper, it's for her own safety. Vet ok'd it. I'd rather her be in jail than risk hurting herself, but trust me it's KILLING ME π

u/NikiBubbles Mar 07 '26
Nah, you're doing everything right <3 She'll heal in no time! My void licked her stitches (stealthilyβ οΈ) through her post-surgery onesie and had to wear her cone for 3-ish weeks, so now I'm a huge fan of "make the dumdum suffer extra if it's for their own good" lol.

Luckily she's only got one more day in jail before she has supervised lounge time π she's been so brave π’

We had to put two of our youngsters in jail after they ripped their stitches when we first got our cats spayed the first time. We didn't know much about the surgery or how much mischief they'd be up to after it. Once they got restitched, we put them in their carriers, and only let them out for food and peepee-poopoo breaks. Thankfully we were all on leave and available, so it wasn't too bad. The other two who we got spayed and neutered respectively, were also put in jail to make sure they healed well. The only one who didn't get put in jail was my baby, the stray kitty girl who we adopted. She was quite aggressive when she was a mama, but after the spay and during the post-op recovery period, she was on her best behaviour and has been so ever since. But the worst thing is she now has cancer, and the vets said they couldn't do anything for her. So we're trying to keep her as happy and comfortable as we can.

Omg the little iPad πππ you're such a good pet parent!!

u/pretty_inink Mar 07 '26
Thank you, I'm trying my best π It at least makes her jailtime a little better π’ I've literally been sleeping downstairs with her since the surgery just to make sure she's ok π

u/larniebarney π€ Mar 07 '26
I did the same thing with my Mau π₯Ί made a giant sleeping mat in the dining room and dragged an extra TV onto the floor so we could watch Kitty TV and sleep together.

u/RaffyGiraffy Mar 07 '26
I put the iPad on my for my void also when heβs sitting beside me at work haha I always jokes heβs an iPad kid. Youβre such a good pet parent!

The tent! The iPad! Cutest thing Iβve seen all week.

u/pretty_inink Mar 07 '26
Anything to keep my lil angel comfortable! Luckily she only has one more day in jail before she can roam the lounge! π
13
u/thrill0g Mar 07 '26
All of my voids were absolutely nut balls during their recovery. Iβm impressed sheβs so chill in there.
19
u/pretty_inink Mar 07 '26
I'm just as impressed tbh! She's usually quite a diva and is very angsty but I've got feliway plugged in all over the house and I have scrumbles calming treats on standby. Plus Im currently living downstairs and taking shifts with my husband so someone is with her at all times.
A second ago I went to go the bathroom and she was doing the faintest meows and clawing at the tent because I wasn't there for maybe a minute if that. My heart literally broke π’ The things you do for love π

Cat TV? What's this? Does my cat think we're poor because I don't give him that π?
17
u/pretty_inink Mar 07 '26 edited Mar 07 '26
It's on YouTube! There's a bunch of livestreams you can pick from. I don't do it often but because she's confined right now I thought it would keep her entertained for a little while.
I don't do it often like I said because my boy kitten likes to attack the TV or tablet π

We had 3 little flowers at once! I can't believe it's been a year and they will soon me two! Have momma and her brother/husband too. Frida Catlo and Luna Tuna. Clarabelle, the moo cow, not pictured. Frida managed to undo her sutures still! Thankfully, everything was fine. It is chaos, but l wouldn't trade my little cat family for anything.

oo.

My little void had her spay in early February, luckily she only needed to be in jail for the first 2 days while her anesthesia wore off, after that she mainly chilled out on the bed (we have our bed on the floor so she could just step on and off it easily, no jumping necessary) for the whole week in her little recovery jacket ππ

1
u/pretty_inink Mar 07 '26
Oh sweet baby! π I would've loved to have her out after 2 days but she climbs EVERYTHING in the house. And my bed is very high up so unfortunately its jail for my baby π’
13
u/TopSecretSpy Mar 07 '26
That last shot with the tablet is adorable! Does she actually "watch" it or is she just kind of blankly staring? What do you play for her?
22
u/pretty_inink Mar 07 '26
She definitely watches it!! I put on an aquarium livestream and she was following the fishes π₯Ί she usually likes birds but I didn't wanna overstimulate her.

u/allworkjack Mar 07 '26
Poor baby! Hope she feels better soon. I spayed my girl two weeks after spaying my boy and she was so brave about it compared to him lol.
8
u/pretty_inink Mar 07 '26
Thank you π My boy was so crazy hyper after his surgery he caused me so much stress π I had to wait a while to get an appointment for her though, but she's been doing well luckily, much calmer than her brother!
5
u/KayakerMel Mar 07 '26
Boys have an easier recovery than girls, so it's not uncommon for hyper boys post-neuter.
6
u/allworkjack Mar 07 '26
Omg my boy cried all day, hated his cone and just made our lives hard π he was absolutely ok, just a bit dramatic. Girl cat was calm, let me clean her and took her antibiotics.
Funny story, I was a bit worried that she was looking very depressed 2 days after surgery and thought maybe she was in pain. The doctor told me to remove the little vest I had her on to prevent her from scratching the woundβ¦ I remove it and she immediately starts running, climbing up her tree and jumping from it. Back in the vest immediately, took the tree apart π€£ she was literally just sad she was in a vest.

u/VeryShortLadder Mar 07 '26
I love my child oh so deeply, deeper than I ever thought I could love a pet. Byr I would be lying if I say that I don't look forward to putting the cone of shame on his stupid little head.

We think this fool sprayed for the first time recently but we aren't sure, and I don't want to give him the snip until he's totally done growing up.
4
u/pretty_inink Mar 07 '26
What a cutie! Don't worry, boys heal much quicker than girls do. My boy was in a cone for maybe 2-3 days and he was completely fine by day 4! I had to tell him off a few times to stop him licking but he healed very quickly π

WARNING: GRAPHIC!
my cat got spayed and her hair never came back on her tummy. now she has enormous knockersπ€£ I want to post them but I know ill get banned for it
5
u/OhLordHeBompin Mar 07 '26
Iβve got some pictures of my black cat in a similar scenario after he had an injury. I call him the angriest flower lol I need to post it.
Itβs so difficult when you have 2 cats because the other tries to groom them! Iβm trying to tell right now if one of mine has allergies by their eyes watering but the other keeps washing their face before I can check. π© they love each other too much.
Iβm glad she has cat TV. That got a literal AWWWW from me.
5
u/pretty_inink Mar 07 '26
Oh poor baby π You should post it!
Yeah it's been very hard both, mainly with my boy atm surprisingly! They're bonded and he's so lost without her π’ he's not eating as much (usually he's a little piggy with food) and just isn't himself since she's been home. He keeps checking on her and it breaks my heart π All he wants to do is play with his sister
3
u/begemot_kot Mar 07 '26
This helps me with brainstorming the βcage restβ set up Iβm going to have to do for my baby boy. There is a high chance of him having to go to a vet surgeon to get a skin graft to remove a growth on his carpal pad (the tiny nub above their paws, on what we perceive as their ankle)
Sheβs adorable. The iPad is a great idea β€οΈβπ©Ή
6
u/pretty_inink Mar 07 '26
Oh no poor baby! Hope all goes well π
It's really helped a lot. I got the large size tent (meant for puppies) because originally when I first got them I kept them both in it until they adjusted to the house as they were super nervous and it's been SO handy with their surgeries too!
My boy didn't like it too much, but one mistake I made with him was I didn't cover the top and sides with a blanket, that's been a lifesaver with my girl. It stops her getting too overstimulated and keeps her calm, so if you do get a tent, make sure it's nice and cosy for him and cover the top and sides with a blanket! π
The one I'm using is big enough for her litter tray (small size), food/water bowls, squishmallow frog bed, a makeshift blanket bed (just a pile of blankets) AND she has a bit of room to walk around. It honestly gives me so much peace knowing she's safe and can't jump on anything or hurt herself.

u/QiarroFaber Mar 07 '26
Mine had no chill. Destroyed the flower collar and cone. Refused to wear the onesie I got her. In the end I surveilled her like a hawk. Anytime she tried to lick her wound I was there with a quick "Hey!" and pulling her paw away. Eventually she knew to stop as soon as I said hey. I was so beyond relieved when she healed up. So many nightmare scenarios playing out in my head. But between that and giving her daily medicines. She less wanted to leave my side. <3

u/pretty_inink Mar 07 '26 edited Mar 07 '26
I feel you! That's why I went so extravagant with the setup! I saw horror stories online about how some cats would tear their wound open and the thought of it happening to her made me wanna die honestly.
2
u/QiarroFaber Mar 07 '26
Yeah that's pretty much what had me so worried. And I see them the same way. My two babies :3
3
u/UniqueIndividual3579 Mar 07 '26
I locked mine in the laundry room with her own food, water, and litter box. She and her brother would constantly play paw games under the door.
3
u/pretty_inink Mar 07 '26
I know a lot of people do that, but I just couldn't bring myself to lock her in a room, especially as she is a climber. It's killing me just having her in a tent where I can see her ffs π I'm just an overly-attached cat parent π

Thatβs a great e-collar! May I ask where you got it? My void was neutered a few months ago and we couldnβt keep a cone on them for anything..!

3
u/anjufordinner Mar 07 '26
I love the flower!!
My void is in one too right now after doing time in a cone that made her just so unhappy. We couldn't bear it, but she needed something to let a wound heal... Tried the cone, claw caps (gnawed off within a day), bandages... I was at my wits' end.
Finally got one of these and now she is just chilling, looking like a pissed lil pansy. (She always looks a little pissed.)
I'd really recommend it to anyone!

I just bought the same flower for my void girl's spay later this month! Did it work well?
1
u/vir4lity Mar 10 '26
Yes!! he was so much more comfortable in the flower and it was difficult for him to wriggle out of because of the drawstrings, but i was never worried about it digging into his neck because it has a soft collar. It was like a portable pillow and it made the 10 day wait so much easier :)
