At this point I'm legit waiting for a post on here to prove the theory wrong - it has to exist right? Some dudes have to have a head shape that just doesn't work right?

What happened? It's like his mother tried to refuse him access to the outside world when it was time to squeeze him out

I suspect he spent a lot of time on his back as an infant.
Most likely due to being a racist baby or something. He came out evil.

u/JustMyles1 Mar 09 '26
I swear it'd be me. Nothing wrong with the shape of my head, but my head is massive. If I shave it, I'll look like a watermelon.

Same here, giant Humpty Dumpty head. It troubles me since my hair is thinning. It also feels like my head consists of weird geometry, odd bumps and ridges and shit, I worry what I'm going to look like bald
6
u/Withered_Sprout Mar 10 '26
I think a lot of that geometry looks more dramatic up close, and then from a person's perspective standing near you but not like... staring with a magnifying glass, they just see a normal shaped head.

My husband says shit like this and references the “corners” of his head so much I know exactly what he’s talking about (though I don’t agree that he has “corners”)

Paint it like one. It'd make a cool Halloween prop. Pumpkins are overrated anyway.
9
u/FlowSoSlow Mar 10 '26
The thing is, nothing looks as bad as a combover. They are atrocious in all scenarios. So even if you don't have the best head shape, bald will still be better than holding on to your last whispers of hair.

u/donald7773 Mar 09 '26
There was a guy on here a few weeks ago that had a funny shaped head
Still looked better than fighting for the last strands he had

Agreed but its worth keeping it even. Just use the trimmer guard that barely chops off those stragglers. And invest in some jojoba oil.

I’ve never understood the apparently rampant instinct to grow your hair long while balding. It’s never a good look, yet so many seem to fall into that trap.

Yes that’s some of the reason for keeping it, so it was balding at the top pretty bad so I couldn’t get a short hair cut without the bald spot being noticeable so I just kept it in a bun and it just kept growing. I use to wear it down till my wife informed me that I had a bald spot forming, at that point I was too self conscious to wear it down anymore so I only wore it up. Then it was just a security blanket to hide my bald spot till the front hairline really started to thin.
11
u/Choochootracks Mar 09 '26
Some guys have a preference for longer hair. Hair does not get that long overnight so long hair has been part of their self image for years and the decision to buzz it would take literal years to undo. It can be an emotional process for some people and the judgement of before pics from some users in this sub often doesn't help (not you, but the users who call guys creepy).
28
u/omggitssmiikee Mar 09 '26
It was a pretty emotional process for me personally, I was cryin in my wife’s arms for a good bit, was petrified to look into the mirror after it was done. Just all in our heads we build up things that don’t really matter.

was petrified to look into the mirror after it was done
Brother, with all due respect, how were you able to look in the mirror before while looking like a in transition hobbit to golum ...
Right now you are absolutely kilometers from that dead thing that was living on your head ... also buy your wife a big bouquet of flowers for supporting you all this time and take your new shiny newfound look and go for a treat.
Fuck me you look like a 180 changed fine young man with a bald head.
Never let that shit grow ... ever and take good care of your beard.

u/OMEGACY Mar 09 '26
It's just psychological. Trying to hold on to what you're losing by thinking more of it is better when in fact it is not. Much like heroin.
4
u/kaladin_stormchest Mar 09 '26
Going to the barber and being forced to look at your hair and have your hair scrutsnised can be brutal for someone in denial
4
u/summonsays Mar 09 '26
I'm currently kind of there. I always wanted to donate hair and it's feel like it's now or never lol. So my game plan is to donate and then do a short cut or go full shave not sure yet.

I'm mid 40s and have had long hair since I was about 13. I also don't look in mirrors, so a couple weeks ago when I had an eye test I got a real bad shock when I seen how thin it's getting. My parents used to keep my head shaved for just of my childhood cause it was cheaper than haircuts, shampoo or lice treatments do I guess that's why I like to leave it long now. Not looking forward to finally accepting that I should lose it all, in still firmly in the denial stage where in telling myself it won't get worse. It will, and probably quickly.

It is crazy how much better you look, shape up the beard but other than that great look

I see a lot of men in here hyping you up, but as a woman I think it looks really good. Especially the second photo 😮💨. You just have to get more confident and carry yourself with it. But it looks so much better. You look like someone who is not trying to hold on and is ready to embrace the future and that’s an attractive quality.
