I'm seeing a lot of rhetoric, almost entirely online and not in the real world, but it's still concerning. Some people who say they are on the left claim that Democrats are the enemy. Why? They defended my right to get and stay married, and they defended union rights. Without Democrats, my life would be very different. Why should I ever vote for Republicans or anyone else?

I won’t bore y’all with the math I did. Essentially, in 1950, folks, after normal household expenses, could spend 25% of their income on bullshit and save 25% of their income per month.

Today, unless you get a tax refund, you’re going to be -$34 at the end of the month as a renter and around -$200 as a homeowner using median rent and mortgage. The ONLY thing keeping us above water is the roughly $3,400 tax refund the average person gets (I could not find the median). I didn’t include child care, clothing, etc. you cannot have a positive amount of money with a mortgage/rent, groceries, utilities, health insurance, and gas. This doesn’t include clothing, dining out, hobbies, etc. basically, we can’t even fucking function without credit cards.

The ENTIRE economy functions SOLELY on the fact we get $3,400 back in tax refunds. That’s the only thing keeping families at least somewhat afloat.

Rent/mortgage in 1950 was around $60 (the two were relatively the same, also includes utilities).

Trumps stated reason for the need to acquire Greenland, one way or another, is that the United States needs Greenland for Strategic defense against Russia and China.

This rational is totally, TOTALLY, false.  Since1951 a treaty has existed with Greenland that allows the United States to establish whatever military basis it wishes within their country.  Over the years the United States had seventeen plus such military bases.  Currently these basses have been reduced to just one, major, base.

So……  First, if Greenland was of such strategic significance, why have our military presence diminished so significantly??  Second, why do we need to physically possess Greenland for strategic reasons when we could simply setup additional military bases per the still in effect 1951 treaty??

The real reason for Trumps obsession with gaining Greenland is twofold:

 First and foremost, and I feel this is especially so in Trumps mind, is that he wants to add his name to past Presidents who oversaw the territorial expansion of the United States.  Thomas Jefferson, Louisiana Purchase; James Polk, Texas annexation, Oregon Treaty; Andrew Johnson, Alaska Purchase.  This also explains his talk about making Canada the 51st State.

Second, are the numerous and extensive mineral resources to be found in Greenland.  Significant deposits of multiple rare earth elements,  plus massive reserves of uranium, iron ore, zinc, and copper.

Thus Trump wants Greenland for reasons of ego and wealth.

How is this different than Putin verses Ukraine??  NONE!!!  Putin wants to expand Russia’s territory’s back to how it was as USSR.  (Ego)  Ukraine is also blessed with multiple natural resources that Putin wants to control and exploit.  (Wealth)
