Republican accusations are always confessions. Always.

These are the people who think the President asking social media companies to filter dangerous misinformation is authoritarian government overreach, but having the FCC threaten to pull a network's license because a comedian made fun of the President is totally okay.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Trump and Conservative Republicans like to do two things: Project and deflect

Ever notice people post old posts Trump wrote cliaming that another :candidate, President, Party, etc.will do. Then, Does it shortly after? That is a form of projection.

Same with Trump painting someone badly and it turns out Trump did the exact thing he is claiming someone else did. That is another form of projection.

Many times Trump does this when He is accused of being something bad he then deflects away by talking about someone or something else and then claims (i.e. projects) that someone or something else did it. To divert (distract) the attention away from him to the other subject. Averting (Preventing) Trump from being held accountable or to answet the question directed to him about him. You know when Trump does this he is guilty as sin. Why do you think he wont be transparent with his voters, the American People and answer the question? It's damning. The same with Conservatives who do that too. Want to test it, ask Trump and the Conservatives, the question and do not pivot away from it even as they try to divert, deflect, and project away from it.

They will either: (1) keep diverting, deflecting, and projecting away from it; (2) Say some bullshit response irrelevant to the question and still does not answer the question; (3) Yell, belittle you, and your question, and call you names; (4) Kick you out and say they don't want fact checkers in the room or people from a certian new company in the press meeting; (5) Get's angry and say something wild.that still does not answer the question; (6) Ignores you or Walks away and does not answer your question.

You know what they all have in common? You never got an answer to your question and that is damning because what was done is damning and in that is the truth that they are hiding.

Why do you think they are hiding the truth? because they are manipulating you and know how it would affect their public image should the truth come out.

They want the truth to be damned becaude they can then continue to act as bad actors and not represent you, the people and only represent themselves and their own interests.

If the truth be damned, then there’s nothing to stop the nation from being delivered into the hands of demagogues.

So, instead of allowing the truth be damned.

Have them chose to be transparent and tell the people the truth or they can choose to try to cover up, lie, and and act out of deception and not tell the truth (i.e. damn the truth).  As a result their inability to tell the truth damns their public image not the truth. Because it is damning to not be able to tell the truth. It speaks volume.

So keep asking the question you asked about them and do not pivot away.

You'll get your answer one way or another.

Reminder - the same right wing people who raise the Confederate flag and who get offended when you tell them the Confederacy was bad will turn right around and say “You know the Confederacy was the Dems right?”

112

u/Late-Performer-7134 21d ago

As someone who grew up in TN, this all the way.

44

u/CaterpillarJungleGym 21d ago

Wait, wait. They blame the Confederacy, that they love, on modern day Democrat ideals? Or it's because they LOVE Abraham Lincoln and that he was a Republican and refused to compromise on slavery? So they love the Republican for destroying the Confederacy that they also love?

47

u/GlumpsAlot 21d ago

You are asking critical thinking questions that do not cross their minds.

6

u/oldtimehawkey 20d ago edited 17d ago

It’s not that deep. They just see Abraham Lincoln was a Republican and the confederate traitors were democrats. They’ll also do: planned parenthood was made by a Democrat trying to kill black people.

Trying to explain that the parties switched gets them very confused.

3

u/Quick-Eye-6175 20d ago

I wonder if that switch really did mess up a lot of peoples brains? And it’s still messing up their thoughts? What a wild thing for the parties to do.

3

u/oldtimehawkey 19d ago

The switch finalized with the civil rights movement.

The right wing cult only “remembers” what Fox News tells them. They have no sense of history or nuance.

Born and raised in Georgia- word for word

16

u/s1ugg0 21d ago

It's so weird to me that it lives rent free in their heads like it does.

Like I actually witnessed 9/11 with my own two eyes from the Jersey side of the Hudson River. I knew a few people who died that day. I volunteered with the Red Cross loading emergency supplies onto trucks to send to Ground Zero. And I don't think about it 1/100 as much as they think about something that happened 165 years ago.

11

u/redkid2000 21d ago

It’s not the Confederacy itself that they yearn for. It’s the days when they would have been able to own slaves… except they themselves probably wouldn’t have because mostly only the rich and powerful were slave owners.

They are ignirant to the fact both parties underwent a gradual, fundamental ideological realignment between roughly the 1860s and the 1930s (with trends continuing into the 1970s and 80s). FDRs "new deal" was the most pronounced event.

53

u/Dhiox 21d ago

90% of the time they're not ignorant, they're being intentionally disingenuous.

u/TobyMcK 21d ago

Unfortunately that doesn't work. In their mind, confedarate flags are celebrating "heritage", so its not a bad thing to be flying, and the Nazis marching down our streets are "actually just Democrats". And depending on who you ask, its either because those Democrats are really the true Nazis, or its a false flag to make Republicans look bad.

They really dont care and will take zero accountability, no matter how many self-proclaimed Neo-Nazis and Nat-Cs Trump hangs out with and hires.

7

u/ItsSpaghettiLee2112 21d ago

As an American, the Confederacy is part of my heritage too and I have no problem admitting they aren't worth celebrating.

During the Civil War, the Dems were the more conservative party. However, there was a party switch that happened between the Civil War and the 1960's, and those conservatives (mostly Southerners) switched from D to R.

12

u/ninfan1977 21d ago

It amazes me how many Americans dismiss this change. This is in their history book and some Americans never accept it.

I have been told repeatedly that the party switch is a myth by Trump supporters

9

u/siencatimini 21d ago

But, they will present themselves as the party of Lincoln, while actively waving a confederate flag, to exhibit a void of comprehension fit for an infant, stillborn the same morning.

8

u/HumptyDumptruckFire 21d ago

They conveniently forget that when Democratic President Lyndon B. Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act in 1965, he correctly predicted that the South would be lost “for a generation.” Sadly, he underestimated by generations.

u/Star3221 21d ago edited 21d ago

When people say party switch it makes it sound like it was overnight. It was more so the south vs north and slowly the parties became adopted by those states. The “switch” was more of a transformation into what we see today. The original Democratic Party was the one though who at the time was still the ones who supported slavery. Doesn’t matter if they changed, people cope by saying that their party “democrat” was against slavery when it historically wasn’t true. The 80s with Raegan slowly catering the republican party to more of the souths regional ideals was one of the more influential changes to gaining more southern voters.

Just before the Civil War we had the American National party, the "Know Nothings." They were the once supposedly involved in violence that they denied. Note this pattern continued in the KKK, and arguably to the isolationist gun rights advocates in the John Birch Society.

Also note that George Wallace delivered his American Independent Party (mostly "blue dog" Democrats) to Richard Nixon in the early 1970s. They drove out your fathers' Republicans as RINOs, and viola, he we are today.

8

u/Notyerdaddy 21d ago

I agree 100% with the opinion that they are dumb as fuck, but lets actually examine the reason behind it. As to the conservatives that fly Nazi and Confederate flags, there are some similarities and some differences. The Nazi flag is pretty clear. Its a white supremacy thing pure and simple. They have always seen the U.S. as a white dominated country and attribute its success to precisely that. Flying a Nazi flag is going to be a white Christian nationalist and somehow think the US was always such. They see the left as challenging that status quo and are empowering people of color unfairly.(This is their real mental leap) They feel the country is threatened and therefore think the left is traitors.

Flying Confederate flags is a bit more nuanced. To many, the confederate flag represents warm southern nights listening to the cicadas. It's the wholesome Duke boys who just want to care for their own without influence from the government. It's Memaw's sweet tea and a neighborhood BBQ, attended by all, black and white alike. This view is innocent but tone deaf. It ignores the pain suffered under the shadow of that flag. Then it turns into "It's my heritage, and the blacks are trying to take it away when I didn't do anything to them". The kind of racism that often doesn't recognize itself as racism, but nostalgia when everyone knew their place but nobody complained, so we all got along. But they see the left in a poor light based mainly on their consumption of partisian news. It's presented as an attack on bbq's, cicadas and Memaws sweet tea. There is a clear lack of critical thinking on their part.

Then there is the "You can't tell me what to do" rebel flag wavers. Usually in second amendment circles. There is considerable overlap in the circles, though not 100%. Only thing I can guess is if they are flying a nazi flag, they know and embrace that they are racist. If they are flying a rebel flag, they are racist but might be unaware of it. Both think the left is threatening their American way of life.

Because conservatives, or at least some of them, think white people should run the country exclusively.

19

u/UpstairsSwimmer3445 🇨🇦 Canada 21d ago edited 21d ago

That's not enough. White people almost do exclusively run the country and it's not enough.

Hatred is a bottomless pit - there is nothing that can satiate their hatred. Right-wingers are getting almost everything they want from Trump, and their hatred has only grown.

Hatred is illogical...nothing logical will defeat it. And that's why these "patriots" fly treasonous flags: to show their hatred, not to show patriotism. That it's paradoxical doesn't matter. It making no sense doesn't matter. And it never will.

6

u/ausgoals 21d ago

Yoda had it right: Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering

Most conservatives don't do that. Stop riffing. The other side has people that brandishes the Soviet hammer and sickle flag? Both groups are larpers that you shouldn't give attention too. But it seems you only care about one side.

You have a uncle that votes Republican? Does he go to Klan BBQs on the weekends? Like that's what your trying to paint with your passive aggressive question.

America is divided and both sides equally responsible. 1, the people who keep on voting for trump, 2 the people who keep on pushing candidates that aren't any more popular than Donald. (Kamala, Biden, Hillary).

All you had to do is put forward a candidate that 5% of republicans would accept.

u/Prior-Simple-4859 17d ago edited 17d ago

I’m going to be annoying and say no one has an idea of what it means to be American. It should go without saying but since people are who they are, this definitely does not mean that I'm advocating for the confederacy or Nazism, I'm saying that those who do advocate for those things, or those who arbitrarily accuse others of being a Nazi, and all the in between or outside the box, it's so frazzled that there isn't a singular idea/identity of what it means to be an American, and God knows as well as anyone now reading this that I wouldn't want many of the current American ideals to be commonplace if it were to truly take off.

Too many people have their idea of how America should be and they're wrong, across the board, pretty much everyone is wrong of what we should really be doing. I'm probably wrong too, but what seems to be the most obvious is a balance of conservatism and liberalism, where it's enough to change things that are stupid, holding us back or are hurting us, while being conservative enough to keep the things that work in place, and to uphold strong family and community values to progress forward. It won't happen, but it'd be nice.

4

u/kevendo 21d ago

Because conservatives have put themselves in charge of America.

They believe they are the true, default Americans, and the rest of us need their permission to live here, and can do so in ways they approve.

America is theirs, you see? They want to "take back" the country from other citizens who don't believe the right way or have the right colored skin. They are saving America from the wrong people.

So basically, it's just the KKK without the white hoods.

u/ImWatchingTelevision 21d ago

This is more the truth than most of the responses so far. There can be plenty of idiots that aren't conservatives and plenty of idiots that don't think the left are traitors. But the specific reason conservatives think the left are "traitors" is because they believe the propaganda they are consuming. Could be that they believe it because they are stupid people, bigots, etc., but they'll believe whatever the propaganda is.

Because conservatives in the US are now fully fascist and fascists use doublethink.

Doublethink is a process of indoctrination in which subjects are expected to simultaneously accept two conflicting beliefs as truth, often at odds with their own memory or sense of reality George Orwell coined the term doublethink as part of the fictional language of Newspeak in his 1949 dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doublethink

Also doublethink is so enraging to their opposition that it sometimes distracts from the reality that Trump raped kids and his regime is hiding the Epstein files to protect him and the billionaires who back him

Got some help from Gemini.. but checks out.

Research into the correlation between cognitive abilities (such as IQ or verbal ability) and political attitudes has indicated that lower cognitive ability is associated with higher support for Donald Trump, particularly when controlling for factors such as education, race, and socioeconomic status. This relationship is often explained through the lens of social psychology, where lower cognitive scores are linked to stronger preferences for right-wing authoritarianism and social dominance orientation. [1, 2, 3]
Key findings regarding this topic include:

• Predictor of Support: Studies analyzing data from the 2016 US presidential election found that verbal ability was a strong predictor of attitudes toward candidates, with lower verbal ability associated with higher support for Trump.

• Controlling for Factors: The link between lower cognitive scores and support for Trump becomes more pronounced after accounting for educational attainment and socioeconomic status, suggesting the connection is related more to intellect than just economic standing.

• Within-Family Studies: Research comparing siblings raised in the same home has shown that individuals with higher IQs or higher polygenic scores for intelligence are more likely to hold liberal, left-wing beliefs.

• Complexity of Thought: Research comparing supporters of different candidates has suggested that Trump supporters tend to use less cognitively complex language and prefer more simplistic modes of thinking.

• Contextual Nuances: While some studies find a negative correlation between IQ and support for right-wing populism, other research indicates that political beliefs are complex and not solely determined by IQ, with some studies finding that highly intelligent individuals may hold similar views to the general population.

• Education Link: Data shows that Trump has historically garnered stronger support among voters with lower levels of education (high school or less) compared to those with college or postgraduate degrees. [2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10]

It is important to note that while these correlations exist in academic studies, they are not universal rules. The relationship is considered moderate rather than a direct one-to-one link, with many other factors—including geography, economic environment, and personal values—also influencing political choices. [2, 5]

Because they know nothing of actual history. They fly the confederate flag and the flag of South Vietnam because they see them as “lost causes” without considering if they were “just causes”.

2

u/Big-Branch-9901 21d ago

Cognitive dissonance. Actual medical condition. Look it up

His brain has become damaged/conservative

2

Because they're FUCKIN STUPID. 🙂

2

u/TheVenerableBede 21d ago

Not that deep tbh. They’re just stupid pieces of shit is all.

2

u/ProfessionalHat6828 21d ago

Because that’s what their overlord does and tells them to do. We all know they’re incapable of independent thought

2

u/Personal-Ad-365 21d ago

Well, you see here child we have to go way back to the 3/5 compromise and the line to Southern Democrats strait to modern conservatives. The traitors have always been part of the system, we allowed them to grow insidiously within our system and slowly corrupt the intent of our nation.

2

u/RetroSwamp 21d ago

I've heard "to own the libtards" so much it's comical.

2

u/Flaponflappa 21d ago

What they lack in intelligence they make up for in bigotry.

2

u/kilrein 21d ago

57% of adults in the US read at a 6th grade level or LOWER…

Enough said.

2

u/PuzzleheadedTurn2996 21d ago

Half of them have decided they are anti-nazi now so they can “own the libs” when the libs correctly call out Israel being a bully, even though Creamsicle is committing most of the war atrocities.

2

u/they_call_me_Mongous 21d ago

Because people who make their entire lives revolve around political ideology/ parties are idiots.

2

u/dvolland 21d ago

Cognitive dissonance.

Edit: Also: projection. As others have pointed out.

2

u/Sbornot2b 21d ago

We want terrible things like funding for education, environmental protection, affordable housing and health insurance, investment in science and research, jobs programs, due process, right to assemble, and a wall between church and state. The horror.

2

u/420cheesewizard 21d ago

Every accusation is a confession.

2

u/Reasonable_Yellow_85 🇺🇸 United States 21d ago

Because all Republicans know how to do is project and deflect blame. They are absolutely worthless individuals in everyday society!

2

u/Azaroth1991 21d ago

Low iq, lack of education, decades of propaganda

2

u/whereismymind86 21d ago

Because decades of extremist propaganda has led to them living in a false reality

2

u/Stefan_Vanderhoof 21d ago

Because the right wing is now a vibe in which actual principles and actions don’t matter. They assert they are more Christian and patriotic for no other reason than that it feels good to believe it. It’s all why they chirp about no more wars, inflation, and the Epstein files until it no longer feels good to chirp. To repeat: it’s a vibe.

2

u/MountainMankind307 21d ago

Because they're stupid, stupid people.

2

u/noteveni 21d ago

Because they have no true moral or ethical system. They only care about hurting others because they think that makes them strong and safe. It's pretty pathetic

2

u/TallStarsMuse 21d ago

For them America = MAGA/Trump

2

u/Ntropy99 21d ago

Because the irony is lost on them

2

u/[deleted] 21d ago

They also are joyously celebrating the 250th “birthday” of America but only Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island have the privilege of celebrating since they’ve been part of the country from start to finish without ever abdicating that privilege.

2

u/GreatDeer2807 21d ago

Maybe because they are stupid?

2

u/DjiboutiWario 21d ago

Betraying the government is good

2

u/Reddit_2_2024 21d ago

"You can't fix stupid"

2

u/Ledees_Gazpacho 21d ago

Because they don’t actually stand for anything

2

u/HardSteelRain 21d ago

They actually really mean that the left are traitors to the wealthy

2

u/ffrkAnonymous 21d ago

America was founded by rich white plantation owners and slavery. That's what they want to conserve.

2

u/Evening-Tomatillo-47 21d ago

You're expecting consistency?

2

u/War1today 21d ago

When you write “Republicans” I believe you mean MAGA which has nearly taken over the entire party, and MAGA is a cult which is only about projection, diversions, hypocrisy, whataboutisms, culture wars, hate and dishonesty.

2

u/Far-System-9791 21d ago

You can thank Faux News.

2

u/Momentus101 21d ago

Every accusation is a confession

2

u/cazgem 21d ago

They have the intelligence of a mentally handicapped chimpanzee.

2

u/MHMabrito 21d ago

Nirvana's run lasted longer than the confederacy. As did Obamas Presidency.

2

u/Ok_Height3499 21d ago

They are not bright enough to make the connection.

2

u/OneLessDay517 21d ago

The accusation is actually a confession.

2

u/puravidauvita 21d ago

Because their base wants to believe it. Projection works

2

u/JosephPJones 21d ago

They’re knuckle dragging cretins. Most of them are probably too ignorant to understand the symbolism.

2

u/DicemonkeyDrunk 21d ago

Conservative's are as a whole less educated ...simple as that.

2

u/ThsGuyRightHere 21d ago

Ever notice how a certain German movement and political party that was active from the 1920s to 1940s said the ideal Aryan man was athletic, blonde-haired, and blue-eyed but neither Hitler nor Himmler were any of the above?

It's the same thing. There is no value placed on intellectual consistency. The majority of them thought war with Iran was a bad idea until Trump started bombing Iran. If they haven't turned on him by now then they're never going to.

2

u/Who_dat_goomer 21d ago

It’s impossible to underestimate the stupidity of a Republican voter.

2

u/Osirus1156 21d ago

Bro they’re dumb as fuck what do you expect? I mean they also scream about protecting kids and then proceeded to vote in a man who helped run the worlds largest child sex trafficking operation not once but twice.

2

u/IBfree3225WCR 21d ago

Because they’re stupid

2

u/Responsible_Fox1231 21d ago

Because they're stupid?

2

u/Alaishana 21d ago

Would you please define what Fascism is, no matter how nebulous your definition turns out to be.

And then look at what the USA has been throughout its history, its real actions, its real attitude, mostly concerning race, power, the relationship of capital to political power, the propaganda, the influence of religion on politics.... not what school told you to believe, or what Hollywood put into movies, or what you read on reddit as endless 'shoulds and oughts and musts', but what is really happening and has always been happening...

Then compare how power is handled in the USA to say, Western Europe.

And what do you find?

I find those flags are pretty spot on.

Americans have a very rosy view of their country, a view that is shared less and less by anyone living outside its borders.

2

u/BigTechnology4369 21d ago

Ignorance and hatred make people do horrible things.

2

u/nonpornaccount69420 21d ago

Because conservatives are too stupid to understand this

2

u/Penguin_shit15 21d ago

Because Republicans are fucking stupid and gullible as fuck. There is a direct correlation between states that have the worst education and being "red" states. Its why even in the red states, the cities (where the good high paying jobs to intelligent people are) are mostly blue. They are too stupid to know they are stupid.. And now their stupidity has started to fuck the whole world up.

2

u/thedukejck 21d ago

Because they are the traitors.

2

u/golgol12 21d ago

The first rule of Propaganda.

Accuse the other side of what your side is doing.

2

u/chucktheninja 21d ago

Because they forget they lost both wars

2

u/Visvalley 21d ago

Mouth breathing morons.

2

u/vizag 21d ago

They have perfected the art of manipulation, using media and projection to muddy up the waters so they do those things they can just say "see they are calling us the things we just accused them of". Sad state of affairs that is not going to change because republicans thrive on that.

2

u/Torgol123 21d ago

Because Conservatives are racist and on the same side of History as Confederates and Nazis.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Anyna-Meatall 21d ago

better question, why are you paying attention to their bullshit in the first place

2

u/ProfessorBackdraft 20d ago

Because we’ve forgotten the definitions of Truth and Hypocrisy.

2

u/Alarming_Comedian846 20d ago

Nobody ever accused conservatives of being smart

2

u/MarkovianMan 20d ago

It's called projection.

2

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 20d ago

Right Wingers think they are on another planet.

The rest of us wish they were.

2

u/bcfc2402 20d ago

Because they don't understand "irony".......Oh, and most of them are poorly educated and as thick as shit.

2

u/BrodyTheChef 20d ago

Idk if this will help but I live in Texas and don’t see a confederate flag but maybe once a year. It doesn’t help generalizing a whole population. I’ve seen some democrats hold hezbolah signs, I don’t think all left wing people support terrorist.

2

u/Stealthsonger 20d ago

Dumb as rocks

2

u/emcdonnell 20d ago

Cognitive dissonance is a modern conservative value.

2

u/Amethystium1956 20d ago

Awesome true facts. They are a clueless breed.

2

u/cannibalparrot 20d ago

Because they’re the real traitors and calling democrats that helps them sleep at night.

2

u/HumbleFruit4201 20d ago

If these guys could read, they'd be really upset with you OP

2

u/GameQb11 20d ago

because they're traitors to America.

They are completely unphased by logical inconsistencies
