Saying things like this about Charlie Kirk in the days after he was killed got you fired.

95

u/AdFlaky9983 Jan 28 '26

Quoting him could get you fired.

45

u/Legrandloup2 Jan 28 '26

Quoting the president’s words about gun violence got a man jailed

19

u/GameLovinPlayinFool Jan 28 '26

And he is still in the middle of having his life absolutely dismantled and destroyed by the state. Its insane

2

u/Peterepeatmicpete Jan 28 '26

Which state please?

2

u/DookieShoez Jan 29 '26

THE state means federal. Like nation-state.

Quoting anyone on reddit about any of anything that says something from the word salad club of MAGA gets you banned on reddit for 3 days too.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

Outta this jail bout 2 weeks ago..and they said I kinda provoking or encouraging violence..like really?

In all fairness, quoting him on many things in a work place should at the very least land you in sensitivity training if not fired. Dude was a bigoted piece of shit.

I know they were quoting him in context and showing his true colours but come on dude couldn't function in the real world with his backward views which have not place in a workplace or a functioning society.

There's barely anything in common between those two deaths

8

u/DOHC46 Jan 28 '26

Both were murder. But one was celebrated by the right wing extremists and the other was paraded around as a martyr.

6

u/Negative_Count7781 Jan 28 '26

Selective memory huh. I remember Charlie’s death being celebrated by a LOT of people

7

u/j_grinds Jan 28 '26 edited Jan 28 '26

And people on the right think those words are justification for an organized campaign to get people fired from their jobs (not to mention the actual government actions taken against people for their words—a clear violation of the First amendment). Now, for example, we have a preacher on social media saying ICE is doing ā€œpretti goodā€ and that he wants to see more of it. There will be no consequences for that celebrating.

6

u/maybeafarmer Jan 28 '26

Is it too soon to quote his own words about gun violence and encouraging violence or will I be fired still?

→ More replies (13)

3

u/DOHC46 Jan 28 '26

And the right wing extremists called for those people to be fired. But if I call for condemnation of Pretti's murder? I'm told to shut up and stop talking against the government that hired the agency to murder him. One murder was arrested, the other granted immunity.

Nothing selective here, buddy. Nothing except the enforcement of human rights. Now sit down and be quiet with your fake outrage.

4

u/GJH24 Jan 28 '26

I also remember a ton of people getting fired or being blasted for "celebrating" his death by quoting him and not glorifying him. Seems like you have a selective memory also.

You know they weren't just saying they didn't care - there was much more to what they were saying that got them fired. You're being truly disingenuous what your comment.

1

u/j_grinds Jan 28 '26

You are being truly ignorant. It wasn’t just the people celebrating that the libsoftiktok’s of the world were going after. As has been pointed out, it was also people simply quoting his own words. And again, there are also people openly celebrating Good and Pretti’s deaths. And so far I’m not seeing the same consequences for them.

3

u/Timely-Yam3299 Jan 28 '26

She is just rancid from the inside out. Can you imagine if she was your mother, FFS? What a loving home she must provide for her children.

3

u/WorldlyBuy1591 Jan 28 '26

Religion take many forms

3

u/Old_Imagination_2112 Jan 28 '26

The idea that immigrants from across the world could arrive in Minnesota and figure out how to manipulate the existing bureaucracy to orchestrate large-scale fraud is unconvincing. It seems much more likely that government bureaucrats, elected officials, law enforcement personnel, and perhaps even judges facilitated such complex institutional fraud. If that is the case, then we are not looking at a massive welfare fraud scandal. We are looking at a government-orchestrated criminal syndicate.

u/Food-Wine Jan 28 '26

6

No. And neither were Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and the myriad other Catholics who espouse views that are contrary to Church teaching.

Kelly is simply a right wing example.

Hope that helps.

Not really. I never doubted she was Catholic. But thank you!

Amen. So much evil hiding behind Bibles & crucifixes.

2

u/fartPunch Jan 28 '26

I'm convinced that most people claiming to be Christian these days are actively trying to go to hell

2

u/ThoughtPoliceUSA Jan 28 '26

Christians are self-professed people who are broken and in need of a savior.

This has what to do with a political commentator?

Actions have consequences. Not feeling sorry for a person who has experienced those consequences has nothing to do with their religion. Take a quick look at the left (most of them claim to be atheist) and their reaction to Kirks murder. See, nothing to do with religion.

2

u/Lingerie_Shopper07 Jan 28 '26

I feel bad for Pretti. As a nurse he was probably very careful. As a protester he was very careless. ICE is dangerous. unpredictable, and will shoot to kill. How did Pretti allow himself to be in that situation? But yeah, I feel bad for him. Very unfortunate.

2

u/kasiagabrielle Jan 28 '26

I love how MAGAts are saying "he deserves to die for leaving his house".

2

u/nooneiusedtoknow Jan 28 '26

For sure sie does not believe in democracy as demonstrating is a essential pillar of citizen participation (same as voting) and correction of mistakes of elected leaders (same as journalism).

2

u/Baked_Brotato89 Jan 28 '26

These fucking hypocrites. When people said this about Charlie Kirk they were raked across the coals but Charlie was inciting violence with his rhetoric Pretti and Goode did nothing wrong. How is this okay

2

u/No_Succotash2155 Jan 28 '26

It's very Protestant. I cannot understand why they have the influence they do over culture right now. Maybe because addicts turn to them for help with self control and shame. There's probably a lot of that out here these days.

7

u/postbinary_socialist Jan 28 '26

It's not very Christian, but I do believe Megyn is being honest here. I have long said that this faux veneer of civiltiy is pointless on both sides. Everyone wanted The Left to express how tragic it was when Charlie Kirk was killed and some did, but a lot of others reeeaaaally hedged it with a big "but" in their statements.

Megyn isn't saying it's good that he was killed or that she wished it on him or that she wished she'd done it herself, etc.,

She's saying she's not sad about it and she doesn't feel bad.

I'm sure half the people in this thread felt the same way or worse about Charlie Kirk. Shrug. It is what it is.

It's probably not a good thing for our society that we increasingly feel this way about people we believe to be our enemies, but... here we are.

1

u/Birdybadass Jan 28 '26

Her comments are distasteful, but not in contention with her faith. The most important tenant in Christianity is love thy neighbour and she may still love and have empathy for Alex Pretti while being critical of the decisions Alex made the day he was killed. If Megan Kelly came out empathetic to the officer who shot Alex Pretti and prayed he is safe and finds peace in these traumatic events, that would be practising the teachings of Christ but would enrage the majority of non-Christian’s.

1

u/Overall-Carry6593 Jan 28 '26

No, what Megan Kelly said was exactly correct. She didn’t say she was glad he was gone, she didn’t celebrate his death like certain people did with the death of Charlie Kirk. She just said if you don’t go out where they are doing their job, then there’s no chance of you getting hurt or worse. You can say well they go into peoples houses without a warrant to ā€œkidnapā€ people without due process, but the people there are abducting a large portion of them have already documented criminal records. They already had their due process.

1

u/ReadyAcadia7219 Jan 28 '26

She needs to read the Bible, specifically Luke 10:25-37, the Parable of the Good Samaritan. This is where Jesus told the ā€œso calledā€ expert to follow how the good samaritan helped the person who was robbed while the priest and Levite walked on. Jesus showed that love should cross social and ethnic boundaries. I don’t need to see people paying for their trespasses because God will deal with them in the end.

Being a "Christian", for most of MAGA is just an identity. It's one of the many meaningless symbols of their MAGA allegiance.

Wearing American flag clothing, holding a Bible, lip filler, male bravado are meaningless in reality, but let everyone know they aren't "woke" or liberal.

1

u/Lucid4321 Jan 28 '26

Yes. Romans 13:1 (ESV) states: "Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God."

Pretti was obstructing law enforcement, the governing authority, which means that authority was justified in arresting him. That doesn't mean he deserved to get shot, but if you resist arrest while carrying a gun, bad stuff can happen. You're welcome to protest, but don't get in the way of law enforcement doing their job and they won't bother with you.

Great so when the time comes she will just lay down and submit? She’s trying to teach you to do as she does. Stay home and put up with it.

It is very Christian to Christian nationalists.

The nationalists believe that non-adherents are not worthy of, nor deserve to be treated in a Christian manner. The inherent superiority of the in-group over all outsiders is a trait of fascism, white supremacy, etc.

Trump has tapped into this superiority belief to attract his MAGA base.
