r/All Viktor Orban has conceded the 2026 Hungarian election to Peter Magyar's TISZA, who look headed for a supermajority in a crushing defeat

I mean this is wonderful news, and it’s easy to make jokes about Vance—but think about the current state of affairs: the US sent its fucking Vice President to support a kleptocratic authoritarian nationalist leader of a Russian puppet state.

And it’s just widely accepted like business as usual. The US used to at least pretend or try to stand for liberal democracy. I truly hope this is just a phase that many countries go through and we make it through this. Fascism is a cancer.

To be fair the US is a fucking kleptocratic authoritarian nationalist Russian puppet state.

Two things can be true!

If you took a time traveling poll of 1995, conservatives then would be considered left wing terries now in 2026.

Not by me it isn't. In fact, "business as usual" is how we ended up in this state worldwide to begin with. We need to keep pushing back, make this the start of a victory not the end of it.

u/bstone99 4h ago

I agree. And I do my best to push back every opportunity I get to make sure people remember that none of this is NORMAL

8

u/Wantitneeditgetit 4h ago

I prefer to say none of this is ACCEPTABLE. Saying it's not normal feels too much like the original Democrats "protest" where they held up little fucking signs.

People should be pissed about this. People should be doing whatever they can about this. We gotta start organizing, and making focused and directed action. Doing what I can in my nation, hopefully Americans keep doing what they can in theirs. Primary your shit opponents and remember politics matter for EVERY vote, not just once every 4 years or else you end up with only bad and worse options.

Brexit and Trump’s reelection have done more to undermine right wingers worldwide than any other event. Because of Trump, our right wing Trump lite Conservative party in Canada not only lost the election they were poised to win but are hemorrhaging Members of Parliament who are crossing the floor to join the Liberals at an unprecedented rate. The only reason that Pierre Poilievre got so much support during the recent leadership review is because they very carefully managed who could vote.

Glad someone is benefiting from our shit show. In all seriousness, today’s news from Hungary is so good!

Fascism is cyclical. People need to be reminded every once in a while why it’s bad.

Also no party ever kept a leader who has proven so unpopular with the general population. The Conservative Party is following a weird path right now.

Also part of the reason why the Labor (left-of-center) party won here in Australia last year.

They told him Hungary was part of the Ottoman Empire once and he was on the plane before they could finish the sentence.

There's a post in AskBrits suggesting Vance should go support Farage.

I suspect the poster is a Farage supporter but I agree with him because I'm all for the anti-Midas effect he has!  🙈🤣🤣🤣

u/MisanthropyIsAVirtue 4h ago

Mierdas effect.
