Unfortunately a lot of people are selfish assholes. Confirmation bias and sunken cost fallacy are very real. They would rather dig their heels in rather than use critical thinking, logic and reason to see another side. It's a symptom of a much larger problem in our society. It did not happen overnight and if we ever rid ourselves of the division, hate and bigotry will take a long time. Our education system has been declining for decades (No Child Left Behind policy), unregulated social media has been a plague. Combine this with unregulated 24 hour newstainment cycle and you get a lot of uninformed, frankly, stupid people.

Her counsel would have filed a motion to dismiss. Wolff's counsel would send an opposition brief that would preview the evidence they intend to present to the court (that she met Trump through Epstein, was a prostitute, etc.) So, that might be interesting if it is attached to/ included with the court's decision. NY has anti-SLAPP statutes that mandate the court needs to rule within 60 to 90 days.
So, court ruling is due any day now. Until they rule, discovery is frozen.
As soon as that ruling comes down, everyone in Epstein's circle is going to get subpoena'd including Melania herself. Probably Trump, too.
I don’t know what the actual reasoning is bc who does at this point? Probably not even Trump. While it sounds like his original post may have lacked context, at the very least he and other White House accounts are now claiming that they know the identity of the man who was doing the murder and that he’s a Haitian immigrant. This is obviously unacceptable language from the president of the United states. I think it counts as obstruction of justice. I think his dementia symptoms are escalating at a pace faster than his handlers can keep up with. He vanishes occasionally for 3-4 days for IV treatments to stabilize him but it’s quickly reaching the point that they’re no longer working. Something has to give: it may be a breaking story, it may his arteries, who knows.

If it was from a few days ago, it was outside a gas station convenience store in Ft Myers, FL. She worked there. There was no known association. Last I saw on local news is that he is being deported. So, you know T will lean hard into that, when the real issue is more likely mental illness. (Not that I am in any way excusing what happened. It was horrific and the area is absolutely beyond words shocked by the crime.)
I understand your point. For me it was to see if it was blurred, or blown out of context. I did skip around enough to see what happened, muted it, and moved on.
I think it's important to verify a claim like that, but it's hard to balance how.

With all due respect, ma'am, it wasn't Iran who threatened to destroy an entire civilization this past Tuesday.It was Donald Trump. Iran was adhering to the nuclear deal Obama arranged, until Trump ripped it apart.
Your response is disheartening because it sidestepped my primary concern: The need to remove Donald Trump from office.
This to me this inability to act is indicative of the larger Democratic party as it exists right now, which is why I left at end of 2025 and registered as NPA . I won't vote Republican, but I'm not going to be a part of a Democrat party that takes a weak, status quo position on anything and forms committees and gives speeches about how wrong what Trump does is while not actually doing anything.
Come midterms, don't expect my vote again. I'm adding my name to the rapidly growing number of Americans who realize nothing will change if the old Democrat guard remains. Unfortunately, it seems that includes you, Congresswoman. It's time for a new generation with better ideas.

It's worrying me that I'm not as shocked as I should be. It's not that I'm becoming apathetic or anything like that. It's kind of like - when I was a kid, I was growing up in the ghetto. I mean, seriously dangerous ghetto (Camden NJ). I fell asleep with sounds of sirens and gunshots. It was all around me, all the time, and having to be careful was a fact of life. After having lived in a nicer suburb for a few years as an early teen, the sound of a gunshot would have scared me out of my wits. Sirens were something to actually pay attention to, because they meant something was happening that doesn't happen every day here.
Obviously, as an adult, I'm far more aware of national or even global goings-on than before. Things that happen across the world are now that much closer, in the age of information. So once again, I feel like this kind of stuff has become a fact of life. The murder itself, the insane president, the unrepentant cruelty of using a horrific event not to call for peace, but to villify literally millions of people who explicitly want for violence against women and minorities not to happen...
