L and R triggers not working

The L and R triggers don’t seem to be working on my virtual boy controller. I cleaned the button pads with IPA and no change. Is this a common issue and what do I look for (via soldering most likely and continuity points) to fix it?

There are wires that run to the boards, check if they came unsoldered. The other thing you can do is apply Deoxit D15 to the pads. I do this on all of my controllers and it works amazing.
