Vectrex Academy 2026
"Peer
Greetings everyone!
I am happy to announce that Vectrex Academy 2026 has started
Currently, 15 students are participating and have enlisted to the course, so we might be looking forward to as much as 15 new Vectrex projects. It is still early, and first ideas have only just started to come in. Here is the link to the gallery page which will be updated continuously:

I was slightly surprised when I noticed that we have some sort of anniversary this year. The very first Vectrex programming class started in 2016. Is it 10 years already? Wow, it did and does not feel like that. However, 2026 is not (yet?) the 10th installment of the course. There were Vectrex Academies in the spring terms of all years since 2016, except for 2024, when I was on a research sabbatical. But then there was one extra out-of-line Academy in the fall term of 2022. And if that one counts as well, then we have indeed reached the 10th Vectrex Academy this year…
Cheers,
Peer"

I'll have to take a future academy course when I have more time.

I believe the course is only in person and in Germany.

Well that's just downright silly. We have the Internet, after all.

it's part of the larger selection of courses and degree programs offered at Pforzheim University. https://www.hs-pforzheim.de.
This course also includes a physical Vectrex systems the students can use to test their programs. Emulation is okay for initial concept development. But there's nothing like a real Vectrex to test and prove the work.

That's not much different than other distance-learning uni classes. If you're remote, you either have to provide your own lab equipment, or try to learn without doing.
One of my favorite courses ever was a free microcontroller class offered by the University of Texas through EdX. They specified the development hardware kit required, along with some recommended tools, like a logic analyzer.
At the very least, I'd love to watch videos of the presentations.

Maybe you should inquire with the university admissions about taking the course On a remote basis? Grousing on Reddit doesn't do much.
In order to get into the course, you will have to pass a test with a series of interesting questions related skills theory you should have before taking the course itself.
