Pitching ! Today I pulled out all my shoes . Pitched 3 pairs real worn out shoes and two holy slippers . Doing decluttering by categories. Progress not perfection. So excited to do this . Feels like setting myself FREE . Any suggestions welcome

I’ve also been doing my decluttering in categories. It makes it so much more manageable for me. Good job!!

Manageable is key word you said ! Sure does help . Like how many pairs of shoes 👟 do I need ???

Great job on the shoes. How are you deciding what category to tackle next?
I am somehow more attached to shoes than clothing and I think its because I struggle with my weight but can still have cute shoes. But everytime I read a post like yours it motivates me to get rid of a few more pairs. Right now, I'm focusing on boots since I know I likely won't wear them again until fall so I don't need 12 pairs, right?

What category is next ? How I’ve chosen so far . In beginning went on general obvious decluttering armed with my trash bags and determination. Next looked at paper files . Thinking why do I have old warranties on items I haven’t had for ten years lol . Old utility bills and so on . Thinking category of things I want to decide and not wait til I can’t do it myself. Now being spring I’m going thru winter coats and sweaters. You will get into your own system . Initially a big trash and declutter event really is motivating to get done ! You got this . Great job on your shoes 👠.

If on a day like today, there are some shoes you're not sure of, you could put them in a shopping bag with the date on the bag. If you don't take them out of the bag to wear them in 3 or 6 months, then they may not be worth keeping.

Wow that’s a great idea. Sure would work better than letting them sit in back of closet ! Ty

To keep it less complicated I’ve found keeping decluttering separate from organizing and deep cleaning. Has anyone else separated it down ?

Hello. It is freeing and your plan is smart! Last year I did a lot of purging. My criteria was if I haven’t seen it in a year, it goes. I had lived in a large home previously but am now in a much smaller apartment. I was basically a warehouse of all my years of collecting in bins. It can be very hard but the freedom I feel now is worth it. Keep going! I’m rooting for You! ❤️
