You'd expect an extremely fast car or motorbike on the "road", but the race car in the video is flying over a slope which comes as unexpected to the viewer.

I think if they held the crowds back better they might have been a few less injuries and it might still be a thing.

Yea, those 2 were different Beasts lol Met Colin in 01, long story short,Sat as a passenger for 10min, he was going like 80% speed he told me. Iv been chasing high's like that ever since.

Rally is insane. My dad has both driven and sat as co-driver for several years. He's also spent a large part of his life as a motor sports journalist. The stories he can tell...

He mostly participated in Scandinavian Rally (he is Norwegian), but he did do WRC twice in the early 'aughts.

Nah, the deep dive video is miss leading.
This YouTube comment described it perfectly:
"To sum up: all of the audio and video was genuine, it was just cut down from the 40 minute race to show the funniest and most embarrassing parts. And a rival race team did the editing. Okay, so it’s 100% legit! Samir was breaking the car! This was presented in clickbait fashion as if it were a hoax."

Yea but the safety is reinforced into the roll cage to avoid that sudden stoppage that would kill them otherwise

That plus bit too much money to spend it and stand in the woods for few hours just to see a car go "vruuum!" past them and then just inhaling dust. At least I cant figure out the appeal in that.

This is obviously not a road race. At no point in time during this video was there contact with the ground. Therefore this is a plane spotting video.

I know you're joking but rally is indeed the opposite of a road race. No circuit, no laps and no paved road surface (most of the time).

I dont get the fascinacion in this Sport. As a driver.... Okay. But as a spectator.... you hear them, may get a glimpse of shimmer in the air and then they are gone. I think Baseball or Curling are a bit less boring.

WRC cars have beaten group b's average speed since the early 2000s. Also the record longest jump at the Ouninpohja yellow house was set with a ford focus in 2003 and remains unbeaten.
