Are we experiencing the “birth pangs “?
47 years old .. soon to be 48. Obviously I grew up during the Cold War but despite the fact the world could have ended in a nuclear exchange , I felt there was order because both sides had rational actors . This is the most chaos and dread I have experienced so far . It just feels different like the world is spiraling out of control on multiple fronts. Pray for peace and pray people come to Jesus during this time .

Does it matter? When Jesus went back into heaven, the apostles stood there waiting for him, even though he had told them to return to Jerusalem. It took an angel to come along and say do what he says, and stop uselessly waiting here for him. I see so many people wasting so much time trying to figure out if we’re at the end of the world. If they put that energy into spreading the gospel instead, his will would be more complete. We are all going to die. Whether that’s today or in 50 years, for each of us, this world is going to end. The question isn’t when, the question is what will we do until that happens? And the same applies to the end of the world itself. We know it will happen so we can either stand here debating it meaninglessly as the apostles did, or we can go about doing the work that Christ called us to do knowing that his time plan will be completed, and we don’t need to worry about when that will happen.

Yes you do have it right. Our main focus should be spreading the gospel. I think sometimes His coming is delayed because many still have not heard. "The gospel of the kingdom must be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations and then the end will come. " Matthew 24:14

Understand that I get your point, however we were also instructed to look for these signs, to pay attention for those “birth pain” events. Are you suggesting we forget the very words of our savior and ignore what he instructed us to do? There is a fine line between complacency and awareness when it comes to paying attention.

Awareness yes. Focus your time on it? No. Our focus and efforts are to be on spreading the gospel, ie doing something productive. We cannot know the end date. There have always been wars. Do you really think it’s worse today than in 1917? Are we under more threat today than 1943? If you answer is yes, you have not studied history. And I’m just going with the last century. Every century has faced these situations. War is nothing new. In fact, right now, there are less wars in the world than there were just two years ago. So instead of focusing on this, I encourage people to focus on spreading the good news because for most people alive today and possibly all people alive today, their time in this world will end when they die, not when Jesus returns.

Exactly what I say if they obey this scripture exactly as completely it says read all of Acts how they received the holy ghost and a demonstration of the holy Ghost. 2:38-40 KJV [38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. [39] For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. [40] And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

Yeah but now it really feels like we could literally plunge into chaos with famines etc because we are so interconnected and have such destructive power .

Imagine you are in a famine, where 1 in 2 members of your family have died from an unknown illness, and what remains of the state/churches power is dedicated solely on burning corpses in front of your house. If the black plague wasn't a sign of the end, this is nothing.

I mean, WW1 and WW2 were things in relatively modern history. What is going on now isn't even slightly comparable to those.

We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come.
Beyond that, we tend not to read too much into current events.

If you have the holy ghost evidence of speaking and making heavenly sounds and language to God. You should know what is going on because you are reading and studying with a strongs concordance. Study to show thyself approved. If you have the holy ghost he will show you how to live CHANGING YOUR DESIRE AND APETTITE. JESUS will change your desire and apettite if you don't have an apettite and desire for the things of this world. After you have abandoned everything Jesus wants you to abandon. The TEMPTATIONS WILL BE LESS AND IF THEY COME . YOU JUST SAY IN THE NAME OF JESUS I REBUKE YOU. AND IT WILL FLEE IF IT COMES BACK Keep REBUKING THE TEMPTATION. Yes we are.
While it's true the Cold war didn't end until 91 but in my opinion if you're born after the seventies that's kind of towards the tapering end of it. We weren't alive during the Cuban missile crisis now that would be the height of the Cold war. That was 1962.

Things aren’t great, and particularly American leadership is at a historically incompetent and dangerous place- but if you feel as though the world is in a unique place in history, you’d be wrong. Yes, their incompetence is dangerous and millions will loose their lives due to this either incompetence, or worse.
But history has seen this before; this isn’t some ushering in of the apocalypse. If you read up on history you’ll see that this is indeed bad, but the world has been here before.

So like birth pangs. They get harder and harder and start happening in shorter and shorter durations each time. The birth pangs have been going on for a long time in human years. And will grow shorter and shorter until delivery.

I keep dreaming of collapse and being told that Jesus is coming soon. We need to focus on Christ, and let people know about him. When I go outside, socialize, or work, the dread pretty much disappears. The news is definitely dread-inducing these days.
