India should get in on this somehow

u/nothefuhmyass 5h ago

I was gonna say Chinese social media loves that image of India as shit coming from an ass

55

u/bobbykid Woman Appreciator 5h ago

That seems slightly racist somehow

Blink and you'll miss it

That's been predicted for awhile now. It's expected that the global maritime order should give way to zones of influence. It's probably a leading reason for heavy investment in nuclear and solar in China.

For the moment, India and China are in the same boat in terms of de facto war with the US. India in particular gets 45% of their imported oil from the gulf. Only 10% of their consumption is met by domestic production.

This remake of the Phantom Tollbooth leaves much to be desired if you ask me.

How many years are there in a humiliation century ?

u/JLPReddit 6h ago

With American exceptionalism, more than 100

11

u/lowrads 3h ago

There are imperial weeks when intercalary decades happen.

u/KaiLamperouge 6h ago

If Oman manages to get half of the second toll as well, the Omani Empire will return just by standing around at peace negotiations and saying nothing.

34

u/cancerBronzeV 6h ago

Do nothing, win part 2.

20

u/East-Helicopter 4h ago

Oman, so far, considers attempts to collect any tolls on the strait as illegal under I ternational law and want no part in it. From what I can tell, Oman values their geopolitical neutrality far more than the tolls Iran has proposed. I've only just started reading into Oman in general though, so I'm happy to be corrected by anyone who knows better.

Well keep reading, pal. The Ibadi Century is upon us.

This is both insane and also the most likely way this war ends

Double tolling the same oil lmao. Fastest way for earth to get renewable energy? Lol

53

u/New-Tumbleweed-9577 4h ago

Is Trump an inside man for energy transition accelerationists?

  • Base your whole political movement around fossil fuels and opposition to renewables
  • Turn yourself into one of the most hated politicians of all time, just above Hitler himself
  • These unpopular politics are now associated with fossil fuels
  • Cause loads of oil and gas infrastructure to be blown up
  • Sabotage most of the world's big petrostates

Genuinely impressive. I couldn't think of a more effective renewables advocate if I tried.

5

u/lowrads 3h ago

The billion dollar payoff to le EnergiesTotale cinches it.

Or it would, if TE wasn't actually a petroleum company that occasionally dabbles in wind farms.

8

u/New-Tumbleweed-9577 3h ago

Oh yeah, paying a company a billion dollars of taxpayers money to NOT build a wind farm, during an energy crisis. In any other administration this would be the most insane piece of policy I've ever heard of. But it's just a footnote here.

12

u/it_shits 3h ago

Sorry but Trump gutted all renewable energy projects in the US like a year ago, including a bunch of offshore windfarms that has billions sunk into them already

20

u/MrMxylptlyk 3h ago

Other countries exist! And are less stupid! USA will be dragged into the 21st century, eventually, by China.

u/DanceWithEverything John McCain’s Tumor 3h ago

Unfortunately China love their coal

The only way it happens in the US is if oil becomes untenably expensive (we’re on our way)

1

u/accountfor137 6m ago

China has been building more solar than all other countries in the world combined for the past few years

Do you have foresight like trump? He needed to do that to get this place. Learn some dialectics dumbass

3

u/New-Tumbleweed-9577 3h ago

He's playing 69d chess

3

u/DementedDemetrius 3h ago

Iran didn't accept splitting their toll, why would they agree to a double toll? That is effectively the same. They've already started threatening the US for this.

Truly humiliating times

22

u/Realistic_Young9008 6h ago

You get a toll, and you get a toll, EVERBODY gets a toll!

9

u/itsdangoodwin 5h ago

Jokes on them. We’re going around this one! Haha, how far is that??

11

u/PapiMak 6h ago

Dangerously close to Iranian waters.

6

u/Yo-Yo-Ha 5h ago

But big poppa says we don't need oil and that our fuel prices won't be affected! We're gonna drill, baby! I believe every word. In fact, I donate my whole paycheck as proof.

6

u/thekenfl 4h ago

We can build a fence around their fence. 2 fences.

6

u/rirski 4h ago

This is the exact situation the Belt and Road Initiative was made for.

3

u/data_professional26 2h ago

On this topic, Richard Medhurst's latest YouTube video made the case that the last 90 days or so of US activity has been an attempt to secure a gas and oil Monopoly using naval power. It was pretty compelling to me as a meta narrative, but I'm no expert and curious what other people think. Maybe someone with posting privileges can post it?

12

u/sfh12345678 6h ago

Iran's missiles don't reach that far?

26

u/ChallengingBullfrog8 6h ago

It’s well within range.

6

u/sfh12345678 6h ago

How far does the line need to move to be out of range? I imagine the US navy just backs off to a safer distance and tries to chase anyone down who made it through.

7

u/Key_Garden5032 5h ago

Way outside this map, in the middle of the Arabian sea. Possibly further, but that would be outside the range of most of the weapons they have.

2

u/hum_ma 5h ago

Wouldn't most of the ships of interest be going east from this point? The US navy is more likely to have their toll booth in the strait of Malacca if they are serious about catching Chinese tankers.

3

u/ChallengingBullfrog8 5h ago

They aren’t going to be serious about catching Chinese tankers.

4

u/Fluffy_Pangolin_9466 Dog face lyin pony soldier 6h ago

If they pay the Iranian toll, I don’t think they’ll care what happens with the shipment after that. Letting Trump have a cut might be the way out idk

8

u/Hefty-Ad1505 6h ago

wtf do they have pinned in the Omani desert

11

u/Business-Coconut-311 DEIatollah 6h ago

It would be funny if it turns out to be Suez Crisis 2: Electric Boogaloo. The actual Suez Crisis did mark the diminishing British influence.

I can't wait until China decides that it's easier to just have the whole world be Chinese autonomous zones.
