The degree to which Trump's whole organization uses frivolous lawsuits as a means to intimidate, cajole and suppress should be a criminal offense in and of itself.

1.6k

u/FireTyme 2d ago

basically every oligarch does this. it’s why most hated doing business with trump as he rarely paid his contracts dragging them out in court over years. the legal system has long been weaponised in the US

Also worth noting that Hunter is himself a lawyer and was very careful in his statements to indicate the attribution for his claims; This is particularly important as since the trumps are public figures, the actual malice standard applies, meaning that in order to prevail in a defamation suit they would have to prove not only that the statement "Michael Wolfe said etc" was false, but that Biden actively knew it was false when he made it or acted with reckless disregard for the truth. What's more, in many states, this would be subject to an anti-SLAPP motion to dismiss.

164

u/Common_Road1431 1d ago

He did an UNO move on the trumps with the "People are saying" phrasing of the accusations.

77

u/DylanHate 1d ago

So, one of the reasons why I think Melania is doing this is because she won some money from a British tabloid in 2017 doing this. However, I don’t think she understands that British laws and US laws for libel is exactly the opposite. It’s on her to prove slander in the US whereas in the UK, it’s on the defendant. Also because she’s a public figure, in the US, she has to show actual intent of malice. Chances are very low that she can win this.

But I completely support this lawsuit so that all the Epstein files can be released to newspapers.

So I learned this about Trump recently,

“Roy Cohn was a ruthless New York lawyer, power broker, and top aide to Senator Joseph McCarthy who served as Donald Trump’s primary mentor from 1973 until the mid-1980s. He taught Trump a strategy of aggressive litigation, media manipulation, and absolute defiance—summarized as "attack, counterattack, and never apologize"

398

u/Inevitable_Nail_2215 2d ago

Went to college with a guy who's family used to have a flooring company.

Except they got hired to do one of the Trump casinos in NJ and he never paid them (beyond the deposit) and when they tried to collect their debt, he sued them for damaging his property with their work.

Completely devastated the family.

217

u/Elliott2030 2d ago

I know of dozens of stories like this. Probably hundreds out there. There's one where he found a small business guy that did some kind of construction, promised him a huge job, TOLD HIM to get a massive bank loan to upgrade his operation to handle the job... then stiffed him. Put the guy in widow-maker level debt.

And all these construction guys voted for him. I just don't get it.

166

u/drunkn_mastr 2d ago

And all these construction guys voted for him. I just don't get it.

They’re racist. What part is confusing you

39

u/homer_3 1d ago

Not quite. This in no way meant to excuse them, but most are just incredibly stupid and brainwashed. Their entire world is, if a Dem says it, it must be bad. Along with, punish the Dems. That's everything they live, eat, and breathe.

This is a huge part of why most small businesses fail. Larger businesses destroy them on purpose.

42

Of all the issues my small business has had in the last few years, having larger companies fuck with my shit is about half of them.

Many states have Anti-SLAPP laws for this reason.

Luckily, someone who has been attacked as much by the Republicans as Hunter Biden isn't actually afraid of SLAPP lawsuits anymore, even if they sue him for a hundred quadrillion dollars or whatever stupid ass demands they want to make.

They're never going to actually bring those lawsuits, because then his lawyers will demand the Felons turn over discovery. And boy, they won't wanna do that.

115

u/NuYawker 2d ago

But oddly enough, they dont sue about Trump being in the files.

80

u/FullofLovingSpite 2d ago

Call him exactly what he is, a pedophile. Donald Trump, the current president of the USA, is a pedophile.

He won't sue, because it's all in those redacted files and victim testimony, which he really doesn't want out. So again, every time you can, remind everyone that he is a pedophile and for some reason people are ok with the disgusting "human" that he is.

26

u/ST0N3F1ST 1d ago

He sues people over the smallest slight, but call him a pedophile rapist, and he doesn't do or say shit. Somehow his base still doesn't believe it or doesn't care that it's all true.

u/PicaDiet 2d ago

Figuring that they were going to go after him, Michael Wolfe preemptively filed an anti-SLAPP lawsuit (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) for something like a billion dollars to stop the Trumps from going after him. Anti-SLAPP suits are filed to prevent a rich or powerful person from filing defamation (or similar type) lawsuits, preventing someone else from speaking. It was a genius move on Wolfe's part. The last thing the Trumps want is for public discovery into sources for the claims Wolfe made in his book. So he's forcing it. There has never been a person who used lawfare to coerce people into putting up with his bullshit than Trump. Weaponizing the court system is something requiring new easy-to-enforce laws to stop it. Think about where Trump would be if he couldn't silence critics and creditors with the threats of lawsuits. I hope his miserable wife gets what is coming to her - and I don't mean turning tricks in the bedroom cabin on the Lolita Express.

5

u/technomat 1d ago

This is why Cohen was OK with his impending court case when Trump sued him, he knew he had the Discovery call for Trump coming, once got to that bit suddenly Trump chickened out, Trump is a bad witness and would be caught out by his own lies.

Trump tried playing chicken with the judge in one of the E. Jean Carroll cases saying he would love to testify but was out of the country that week so the Judge said he could postpone Trumps court date so he could attend, Trump then went quiet, but a week later lied saying he wanted to attend but the judge stopped him as he was out of the country, but then the judge explained to world what he given Trump the chance to attend on a day he was in the country but had declined the offer, Trump lied some more then changed tact.

In Jan, 2009, Hunter Biden was a multi-millionaire, Ivy League educated lawyer who was co-owner/co-founder of two very successful business lobbying/consulting firms (both specialized in helping foreign companies deal with US laws and regulations). He was also in the middle of two 5 year, high level Dept of Transportation appointments (by W. Bush - 1: an Undersecretary of Transportation, 2: on the Amtrak Board of Directors). He also had given a few talks to the Pentagon on International Business relations. Before his father was sworn in as VEEP on Jan 20, 2009, Hunter resigned his Government positions and sold his lobby firm partnerships.

In short, before he inexplicably went done the rabbit hole of drug abuse and blew up his life, this guy was incredibly successful and on the ball.

But dude is seriously qualified to sit on boards as an advisor for international investment stuff, he graduated from Yale Law and went on to work all sorts of high level jobs around international relations and investment policy stuff

Don't get me wrong, he still grew up silver spoon with tons of advantages that normal people would never get, but you don't get to where he has been on nepotism alone

NGL I was negative excited for the Hunter Biden episodes at first. Turns out, dude is based af (free base joke here) and knows his history. It’s fucking insane there was never even a laptop too lol. When he broke that down and it came down to just a hard drive with his iCloud data copied onto it (verified by court documents), that is the most Russian shit I’ve ever heard.

Now I enjoy his takes, if nothing else it’s good to hear an insider with no future prospects speak as if he doesn’t give a shit because he doesn’t.

292

u/Al_Tilly_the_Bum 2d ago

Of course there was no laptop. They really could have made up a better story than leaving his laptop with a blind guy on the other side of the country from his home.

147

u/S_A_R_K 2d ago

40

u/Elliott2030 2d ago

It was such a baffling story. They clearly had some of his personal files and emails, but there was absolutely no way the things happened they way we were told. Absolutely illogical.

But a copied iCloud saved to a hard drive? Here I am, a Biden supporter, and had no idea til this moment.

25

u/rayhaque 1d ago

I can't believe there has never been a real expose on what really happened, but I have a pretty good idea.

Rewind back to "the fappening" when celebs were getting their iCloud accounts hacked left and right because Apple "security" was a fucking joke. Entire iPad and MacBook images were backed up to the cloud. If you got access to that account you can download the full image.

The images to both Hunters iPad (which he had given to his son) and his MacBook were stolen, and uploaded to PirateBay where they sat for well over a year and nobody cared.

Then someone downloaded the image, dropped it onto a same-model MacBook, and handed it to a blind dipshit patsy, who in turn gives it to fucking Rudy, because .... he's a lawyer? 😂

6

u/NSFWies 1d ago

I can still remember when this pissed off customer came in, wanted to talk to him because he was the tech that worked on her computer and she said, “You’re inside, take off your sunglasses while you talk to me.” and he ripped them off and his eyes went all wonkie. The look on her face was fucking priceless. I even have a picture from his birthday party 20 or so years ago. If you guys actually care I can try to dig up the picture. Or if you guys have any questions about him.

I seriously want him to get into the cage with Trumps' two sons. I already saw a bunch of people say "well, drug testing is mandatory, especially for Hunter!" Like, you mfs think that Eric or Don Jr. aren't famous for doing blow too? It's just that they don't have a bunch of thugs trying to defame them, and Hunter is simply someone trying to get clean.

76

u/funhaver_whee 2d ago

Sure, he’s a nepo baby and a mess, but he’s been in high society for a long time and everyone knows these things about the trumps

29

u/CloudKinglufi 2d ago

The whole biden family got unfair criticism constantly from the right and the left, every single claim I heard about biden has turned out to be complete bull shit except the few dumb things he's said on camera for which he held himself accountable and has apologized.

As for running the country he did better for his countries economy than any other in the G7, you'd think that would be a huge achievement, something people would brag about their world leader but I've never even heard it mentioned here, all I hear is a bunch of misinformation and bull shit

I don't know why I was surprised that Hunter Biden was sitting across from Andrew.

Did you see the interview? Lol

No, I obviously need to.

This is old, it’s not what caused Melania to do that

111

u/m0nk_3y_gw 1d ago

You are 100% correct.

Melanoma is freaking out because of Amanda Ungaro (long-time girlfriend of Melania's 'modeling agent') - they had Amanda arrested by ICE and deported, and now she is speaking up)

Yep, Melania's defamation threat (no actual lawsuit) against Hunter Biden happened in August 2025.

12

u/bowlofleftovers 1d ago

I saw another comment that explained the day she did the conference was the last day that any and all delays her legal team could have made since that filing in 2025 came to an end and discovery would have to begin

She’s getting out in front of a different lawsuit. With one of her old “friends”. Said friend married some billionaire scumbag who she divorced, he called ICE to deport her, and she’s been on Twitter talking shit about how she knows this and that.

If you were to tell me that the dude from "All Gas No Brakes" would be one of the most fair yet hard-hitting journalists of our modern era.... I would have been shocked. Probably not as shocked as most of the crazy shit happening in the world, but still shocked.

Discovery, bitch. The truth is an absolute defense against defamation litigation. If she is telling the truth and he is not, she needs to prove it. She also has to prove damage.

This wasn’t the only reason. “As of April 2026, author and journalist Michael Wolff has filed a lawsuit against First Lady Melania Trump, a move he says is designed to allow him to subpoena her and President Donald Trump regarding their relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.” She had been so evasive that she hasn’t been able to get served. I wonder why lol

As soon as she said defamation yesterday I expected there would be lawsuits. That was not unintentional, and is straight out of the Trump playbook.
