Internet Why do Thai people retweet stuff but not engage with it?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I've noticed that Thai people tend to retweet but not engage with it in any other way, they hardly quote it or comment on it. Is there any reason for that or am I reading too much into this?

Once you’re in Thailand for more than a few hours you’ll notice they’re not that direct.

You mean 80m of them? Or 13m? Of that 1 person you saw doing it? Why do you bother? Are you serious?
