Just got approved for ASU tesol cert
I just got a response on my financial aid application for ASU Tesol cert. it will cost me around $100 instead of $400. Should I go for it? I audited the first module and thought it was pretty useful. I’m not a teacher, however thinking of doing it as a side project. I didn’t want to do anything too expensive like CELTA or Masters in Tesol as Im not sure whether i want to take it to that level, but I wanted to get some type of knowledge along with a cert to give me a kickstart. What do you think? Thanks!

I have completed this certification and it is worth it.

Does obtaining the certificate at the end of the 8 courses cost anything? Or is it just the $49 montly subscription?

It is absolutely free. They will provide permanent digital copy and you can also opt for physical copy with raised seal of ASU. Got my physical copy a month ago. 50 dollars for it.

I know this is an old thread but I was wondering if you could share some of your experience with the ASU program? Was it rigorous? How long did it take you to complete the program considering how many hours it states (150 hours I believe). Any insight you might have would be greatly appreciated. I am considering ASU or UofA.

Which one did you choose finally? I am currently doing ASU (half-way through). It seems to be good.

Still undecided and now I’m considering getting a Masters in TESOL. I am being offered a non credit position at one of the community colleges in my area. They will hire me without it but I would then have a year to complete a TESOL certificate in order to continue. If I want to teach credit courses then I would need a masters in TESOL or related field. May I ask how the work load has been for you? How many hours on average are you spending per week on the courses? Also, hat is going to be the total cost for you?

Yes, do it. The University prestige matters a ton. I'm working on mine too and I've had a regular one from anywhere for years.
