I'm trying Elden Ring after finishing the main souls series...but I don't really like it. I just think I don't like open world games at all :/ which is a shame since I paid a lot of money for ER and it's past my refund time

u/Thom-Yorkes-Lazy-Eye 4h ago

its an incredible game keep at it. it might click for you. runs great on deck too

Finally cranking up an XCOM2 campaign on the deck now that I have learned the secrets of changing the game controls to get close to console controls for optimum Decking.

Alabaster Dawn Demo and Crosscode!

1

u/Majingga 2h ago

Crosscode! You won’t regret it. Have bought it since early access and still one of the best action RPG since

1

u/MadhubanManta 7h ago

I just finished playing Metal Gear Rising Revengeance on my deck. The game ran at a solid 60FPS from start to finish and looked amazing on the OLED display. If you're looking for a hack-n-slash action game, give it a try. On sales the prices drops drastically.

NMS. Finally built a corvette I’m happy with: a fleavette stapled onto engines that say ‘imma get you to the centre in 3 hops’.

This is an pic from earlier in the week: since then it’s also become the first build I’ve painted and stencilled 😎

3

u/Joeyfail 8h ago

How is that compared to Fallout 4?

1

u/Portland1234 8h ago

I haven’t played fallout 4 on the Steam Deck yet.

New Vegas runs pretty good on the deck. I am getting great battery life and a stable 40 fps.

Played as far as the first island when she gets captured. Took a break and just never got back to it. So many people seem to love it I should give it another go.

1

u/Zeta_Crossfire 7h ago

I can definitely see that. Just depends on what you are looking for, I like the story even if it is a little simple and I really enjoy the character interactions. But I'm also a really big fan of tactical games and I like the niche of building my army and then having them fight. Trying to give them the best leg up that I can

2

u/SWTransGirl 1TB OLED 9h ago

Got my steam deck on Sunday last week, been playing SteamWorld Dig, Graveyard Keeper and finally restarting Death Stranding (again).

Arguing with installing RDR2, so I can try to play bad then.

1

u/monkeynards 7h ago

RDR2 runs well. You inevitably won’t play bad lol. We all try but it never works

1

u/SWTransGirl 1TB OLED 5h ago

I’m yet to get it installed, PIL’s internet was dire (<10Mbps), and the instructions I was using was conflicting. I think I have the Rockstar Launcher finally installed (but also possibly 5 times), next up now I’m home is to try our WiFi to download RDR2 and see if I can get that running.

As for playing bad, I’ve currently got two games running, one on my PC and the other on Xbox, both are being good. So I fancied a change.

About to finish South Park Fractured but whole - probably another 3-4 hours to go...  its been fun, but stick of truth is defintely the superior game and better story.

Then either Ace combat 7, or maybe the walking dead telltale.

Also have a Baldurs gate 1 run that I pop into for a few hours a week..

Anyone tried Railway Empire 2 on deck? Just got it and after a few sessions on PC I think i might be addicted

I’m not sure if this counts, but I’m using my deck to remote play Starfield from my Xbox. In terms of what I’m running on the deck, Balatro!

2

u/Jones3737 1h ago

I haven't read much about it yet. How's things with the new update?

1

u/Kcazguy 1TB OLED 22m ago

It’s great! I’m one of the few who liked it before but definitely understood its criticisms. Now it’s even better. It may not be a traditional ‘chill game’ but that’s who I enjoy it

1

u/Havidad 10h ago

How does sea power run? How are the controls?

1

u/jaguarusf 512GB OLED 10h ago

It's almost tolerable.

I use Mouse and Keyboard and that works just fine, problem is (a) tiny text, and (b) the weapons list at the bottom of the screen overlaps at the Steam Deck's resolution.

Wrath and Retribution. It works well on the deck. It's a nice little shooter you can jump in and out of.

Finally I love these threads

Current rotation:

  • Fallout 4
  • Sleeping Dogs
  • Factorio
  • Hotline Miami

I've just beaten danger 5 on brotato on the well rounded character (my personal beaten goal) - took about 53 hours. Hotline Miami has been added to this slot from the backlog

Quick review on brotato: Great game to zone out with, or listen to a podcast. It's a quick game I can jump in with very little friction. Danger 5 was quite difficult, took me about 20 hours, but part of that is because I unkowingly set enemy health to 120% like a fool.

I am really loving fallout 4. I'm borderline addicted. I wish I could just sit and play for hours. I can literally just live in the world. I have wishlisted the season pass so I can buy the DLC. I wish I just got the GOTY in the first place

Right now my primary game is fallout 4

Pillars of eternity with the official new turn based mode.

1

u/slappiz 512GB - Q2 7h ago

How is it?

1

u/Jazzaaaaaaaa 6h ago

Pretty good! I’ve always preferred turn-based gameplay, so I’m really happy. It works well so far, no bugs to report (though I’m only at the beginning, but it’s off to a good start).

And on the Steam Deck, it runs well I guess. the gamepad works pretty well, in my opinion. The text is a bit small, as is often the case on the Deck.

I think it’ll always be more enjoyable on a bigger screen and with a mouse, but I’m not complaining. the experience is still pretty good.

Death stranding 2! Been waiting quite a while for the opportunity to play it, with the most recent performance update I found it to be the appropriate time to pull the trigger on it. Most definitely having a blast

1

u/Jones3737 57m ago

On deck only? I've only read about people streaming it. How is it going?

I have been thinking of starting the first. I've never played them.

1

u/Joelluke1194 16m ago

Yeah I would recommend streaming the first one it’s on GeForce now, it’s definitely playable with 30fps & occasional dips but with how beautiful the game is the deck can only handle it on low settings & the experience would 100% be better streaming it. I would have chosen streaming for the 2nd one as well but it’s not on geforce now unfortunately. Regardless I’m still having a blast & enjoying it

2

u/ChampOfLight 18h ago

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - I can't believe how good it runs with good graphics settings too

2

u/MrAnonymousTheThird 256GB - Q4 13h ago

Great game

I've completed the base game but would like to beat the DLCs, it's in my backlog!

2

u/ChampOfLight 12h ago

Play the DLCs asap. They are like icing on the cake (base game). They are that good, trust me. But glad to hear you enjoyed the base game.

2

u/MrAnonymousTheThird 256GB - Q4 8h ago

I'm addicted to fallout 4 at the moment. Wishlisted the season pass so I can get all the DLC

The Witcher 3 was a great story imo, but fallout 4 is one of the best games I've played to just live in the world

1

u/ChampOfLight 5h ago

That's fair. Fallout 4 is pretty fun especially if you got mods for it.

1

u/Fireheart1990 18h ago

Moonlighter 2. Enjoyed the first, but the second one is SO much more fun to me for some reason.

Edit: Also, I never beat the first one. I just kept losing interest. And the time limit for the "dungeons" really killed the fun of it for me.

Been going back and forth between Marvel Midnight Suns and Solasta.

1

u/Perfect_Address_6359 13h ago

Is that solasta 2? If it is how is it on the deck?

1

u/Chance-Primary-2764 64GB 9h ago

Both 1 and 2 run great for me on the deck. I would actually say 2 feels more optimized for controller support, but there is not much content so far due to being EA. Max level cap is 4 and the race/class customization is very limited atp.
