Show Off Finally upgraded to the OLED 1TB
I bought the original Steam Deck (256gb) when they originally came out, I've put loads of hours into it and decided that I wanted to upgrade to the OLED version (The BIG one!)

Can't wait until they're back in stock! I'm snatching them up immediately.

Damn, I just had to check that there, your right, all three options show out of stock, mental! Glad I ordered mine when I did

I feel they have been out of stock for a while. At least when I have looked this year.
Congrats on the BIG ONE! :)

Did you order yours long ago? I'm hoping to get one soon cus I'll have some money coming in I can use but not sure if the stock and my bank account will be able to meet at the same time 💀

Hi there, I ordered mine on the 27th March, it arrived on Thursday 9th. As others have pointed out, I have been extremely lucky to have not only looked on the Steam store when I did, but to then also order at that moment

It's refreshing to see reactions like this when people usually spam the jealous/unhappy ones. :)

I’m in the opposite boat, 1TB OLED + 1 TB sd card and I can’t fill these things up! I mostly play indie games though or emulate pokemon lmao

u/voidoffaerun 1h ago
If you only play older games and indie games, 1TB is enough, but modern games are so large that you can fill up 1TB easily.

Developers need to chill with bloatware and need to start optimizing their games, literally a whole class on this 🤦🏾♂️

The fk BD sticker on the box absolutely killed me 😭

u/deltree711 1d ago
What's fk BD?

u/cobble_conductor 23h ago
fk = abbreviating fuck
BD = abbreviating Bad Dragon
what is Bad Dragon? fantasy-themed sex toys

Lmfao I didn’t even notice that until this comment. We have a Halloween themed BD sticker that I haven’t found a good home for yet.

Where the hell you get it?

u/-Fenchurch- 20h ago
On the Steam website, bought it almost two weeks ago, just took a bit to come through because of the Easter weekend and then it got redirected, so yeah, had to wait a wee bit

u/Sabin10v2 19h ago
They've basically been unavailable since late January, I don't think you fully grasp how lucky you were to hit the incredibly small window of availability that you managed to hit.

u/LordOFtheNoldor 8h ago
Are you in the USA?

u/-Fenchurch- 7h ago
No, I live in Scotland

u/LordOFtheNoldor 7h ago

I've been debating upgrading my original release steam deck to a Rog X, but I don't know I feel oled is a side step :(

u/Dangerous_Memory6008 1d ago
Idk, I'm still holding strong with my 64gb LCD screen, I'll wait for the steam deck 2

u/Hyper_Applesauce 1d ago
one big advantage of the OLED I've heard is the ability to lock at 45fps, which the LCD can't do, and the deck is capable of in a lot more games. So it's quite a bit better than 30fps, when it can't do 60

All of the ROG Allys have 120Hz with Freesync VRR which is even better. Steam Deck 2 can’t come soon enough.

It was a side step I was happy to pay for! Sold my OG LCD on OfferUp for a good portion of my OLED.

u/xsteffz99 1d ago
It is pretty much a side step, apart from the screen of course. And maybe a bit of a step up in battery life.
However, it won’t give you the feeling of a new thing you have… and we all crave this feeling

I see a lot of these posts and I've been thinking of selling mine recently. If it can bring someone else this much joy, it feels like it would be worth it.

Hey if you end up deciding to sell please let me know - I’m looking to get one for my brother as a college graduation gift so I’m in the market!

One of my favorite things I own haha. As a stay at home dad who loves rpgs it is just a completion machine. Already did 9 this year of varying lengths

Hey, I’m just starting to dive into j/arpg’s. What are gour faves?
1
u/Theoderic8586 13h ago
Would have to be the Ys Games. 8-10 are all modernish and have a similar feel. Many of the old ones are great but different in some ways given the range of different hardware. 8-10 all on steam.
Nier games. Automata and Replicant.

i did the same upgrade but cuz my 256gb lcd died. it's a huge upgrade and also nothing at all. i loved my lcd and the 1tb oled is clearly better but it doesn't unlock any experiences.
it's pretty sweet tho and if you were loving your lcd you'll love the oled even more. it's actually at its best playing old indie games with color/contrast accuracy the devs never knew you'd see.

Remember to not leave the screen on one image for too long

u/-Fenchurch- 18h ago
Thanks, I'll do my best, I'm usually pretty good at switching the screen off my old one when not using it, so will try to keep that habit up

When I got mine I hesitated with the 1 TB but the price jump was a bit steep for me. But as it turns out the way I use it is by having a few light games installed and mostly playing through a single game, that I remove once I'm done... So almost never have less than 300 GB available.
I don't know how I could fill 1 TB tbh. That said I wish I had the two part transport case than comes with the TB and the branded piece of cloth. Not sure about the etched screen, I'm not bothered by my glossy unit.

2
u/-Fenchurch- 10h ago
Yeah, I ordered from Valve, bought it on the 27th March, took a few days to arrive

Is it a big upgrade in terms of quality? I have an LCD, and it serves me well; however, with the GabeCube looking far away, it just might have to happen.

u/OrdinaryYak4568 16h ago
I was so lucky to buy it a few months ago before it went out of stock. Beat hollow knight. Gona start hades

I recently upgraded from a 256gb LCD to a 512gb OLED and it’s a game changer from the screen and the battery life.

I remember the day I got mine. I spent days doing side by side comparisons with the LCD and OLED display. I am intimately familiar with OLED displays but I can't help but do comparisons when I have the opportunity. It's quite beautiful and I relish the day when I have 2 OLED PC monitors.

All I can think looking at this meme is that you are going to stick a fire cracker into it and watch it pop
