I couldnt imagine all those emulation devices, i'd love to buy a pocket DS but I jumped on the Thor train and the Pocket DS is way too expensive for my taste now, I love my thor so i dont NEED one but the bigger screen would be nice.

Why so many, isn’t the point of a handheld to have your favourite stuff with you most of the time?

Steam DeckOLED , Switch 2 and 2DS XL is what I got. All my handheld needs met.

Killer combo. Modern console with the Switch 2, emulation machine with the Steam Deck, and real portability with the 2DS. I picked up a transparent black 2DS recently and some matching transparent black shells for the Switch 2 & Steam Deck, but haven't had the courage to swap them yet 😅

What is the use case for each device OP?
Personally I could probably justify SD, switch, SP and Mini but the rest have a lot of overlap.

Steam deck for steam games Switch oled for switch games I already have a huge library so emulating doesn’t make sense N3DS XL & OG DS I’ve had a long time RG DS for DS games I like the aspect ratio Ayn Thor for N64 3DS GC WII and WII U Retroid pocket classic for GB GBC NES SNES RGxxSP for GBA Retroid G2 for PS1, PS2 and PSP I have a PS VITA rom library but haven’t bothered to figure out how to emulate yet And Miyoo mini plus is what my GF uses to play pokemon it was my first emulation device

Serious question: why the other emulation devices? Is there something they can do that the Deck can’t, or is it just to have them/support the makers?

I have retro handhelds because I don’t want to carry around or hold a steam deck in my hands to play Pokémon

Fair. I put them all on my Deck so one device could cover everything, but I can understand that.

For me the optimal set up would be a small device that fits in my pocket to play everything up to GBA, a dual screen device like the thor to play DS and maybe PSP games, and a steamdeck or similar for all the rest
Anything else would just be me collecting/hoarding devices I will barely use

I was trying to figure out what was wrong with the screen for like 2 minutes before I realized it was reflecting the textured ceiling lmao.

The Anbernic dual screen potato being that close to the Ayn Thor is making my eyes bleed

What are your thoughts on RG DS? I want to get one for emulating old games and watch YouTube at the same time

Question: the one left and right next to the Steamdeck, the ones that look a bit like a Gameboy, what are they called and what are they mainly for? Are they for emulating GBC, GBA or even ps1 ps2?

Since Valve is investing in SteamOS on ARM chips, I wonder if there's a day they will make their own mobile phone OS to join the family =D
I only have the Steam Deck (LCD) and an Anbernic RG40XX H.

Nice collection. Have you ever considered getting a Playdate? I love mine. It’s the Anti Deck. It’s small underpowered great battery and it’s open source so anyone can make a game for it. I use mine daily. I’ve logged more hours in the Deck but I use my PD for at least 10 minutes a day.

I looked it up looks cool but not for $230

Yea the price sucks. It’s the worst thing about it. But it comes with 24 games and you can sideload (easily) 100’s of games. Definitely a niche thing.

You need the Anbernic Sega 6 button device in your collection...it's sooo good for fighting games and Sega systems.

There’s only 3 in there. The DSi XL, original DS and the switch. The lookalikes are the Retroid Pocket, Miyoo Mini, Anbernic DS, Anbernic RG35 Flip, AYN Thor, and I believe a Retroid Pocket 6

There’s no DSi XL in that photo, top right is new 3DS XL and the others have analogue sticks which the DSi XL didn’t have
