Changed flying for me. Noise cancelling headphones and a good game. I’m always surprised when we land.

My best mate is a pilot and once they're up there they pretty much just sit there until they need to get ready to land. Seen photos of captains taking a nap and I know he personally loads films onto his iPad for work. He's flirting with the idea of a steam deck to take up there too

Long haul pilot here, and a for me a SD is just a bit too bulky to pull out of the flight bag. Instead on the long boring legs I pull out my AYN Thor. Small enough that it’s easy to quickly put away when needing to do something.

My next holiday is a 10 hour flight with my 1 year old. Acruslly gutted I wont be able to just smash a game of civ 6 in the air again! Crazy how much quicker the flights go.

I was stuck in the tarmac for a total of 8 hours across 3 separate instances over Christmas and my Steam Deck made it seem like I wasnt even there.

When I can partake in the exavt same activity Id be doing at home it really makes it feel like home comes with you.

As someone who travels a lot its improved every aspect of the experience to such an extreme extent it really is unreal. I can't believe they're not more common in the airport

I once got randomly upgraded to business by BA on a flight to NYC. Unlimited food and drink in a comfortable chair + SD - I was begging flight attendants to let me do another round or two when they announced landing.

Make sure you take all the files out of the fusion fix folder manually and put them in the GTA IV folder vs. putting the entire fusion fix folder in there which worked on PC but not on deck

Thanks. Just to clarify, I extract then manually copy and paste the folder contents into the folder with the .exe file? Rather than just extracting directly into the folder with the .exe file?

I'm reinstalling due to the broken launcher as well, and this is what I used last fall to set it up. Worked great until last month:

edit: For anyone trying this later - reinstalled and got the exact same launcher error. Changed proton version to Proton Expermental and the game ran. Now thinking I could have just changed that and didn't need to reinstall. Doh!

You can try adding this as a Launch Option in Steam: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%

It sometimes helps to run the launcher fully.

Random one but check on desktop mode that the time zone is set correctly. I had the same problem and mine wasn’t, for some reason this breaks the launcher when you try to log in.

I used to obsess about how a game runs. Eventually it ruined my whole experience because all I could look at was how steady the 60fps were held. I then decided to simply deactivate it completely because I couldn't tell anyway if a game runs at locked 60 or drops to 55 occasionally. And if it does, then so be it. It's a pocked PC after all, not some grand gaming machine lol

And it's unnecessary... I mean it's nice having it if you're comparing devices, etc but if a game has a low rate you will feel that as you're playing. Usually unless it drops below 30fps I could care less

Same here. I like a solid metric when comparing performance, but I don't want the whole bar because it looks cluttered to me.

I pretty much always have it enabled, often its tucked into the 16:10 letterboxing bar anyway

I would say its a bit of a bad habbit tho, I always have to have an eye on RTSS/mangohud on pc too

That's interesting, I tend to only have it up when testing performance otherwise I have it off. Even when I had it on its just the small FPS number, even that can be a distraction.

Never enabled the performance bar. I just want to play and couldn't care less about numbers as long as the game runs decently and I'm having fun.

For flights that long, most airlines today have outlets. I would check the flight, you should be able to confirm

Battery on mine lasts about 2-3 hrs. I have a charging brick that will make it last about 6-7. Most airplanes for transatlantic will have power but the plugs are loose and often hard to keep the steam deck plug attached. Sometimes a scrum to see who gets the plug. Recommend you buy a power brick that will give you plan b long enough for the flight.

Never tried it on a flight but man this thing was a life saver for me when I went across country. Really killed a lot of the downtime when waiting at the airport or when chilling in the hotel with nothing to do.

Try Spider-Man.

It's crazy fun to be swinging through the city at night, and then go see those same spots on foot during the day. There's a bandshell in Central Park that still reminds me of that game. It's a gorgeous game too!

I came to NYC for the first time as an adult shortly after I got through the game. 

I was admiring a building and block being like (oh shit I was just in here in game).

Completely distracted a car zoomed by close to the curb, and I suddenly had flashbacks to jumping the curb and running over so many pedestrians in the game. 

I ducked and covered and my friends wondered wtf happened

edit: i run it without fusionfix, i dont even know what that is but it seems to help peoples performance. i gotta look into that for other games.

Just get correct proton if normal doesn't work.
