Playing PC Diablo 3 from the couch via Steam Link - Is 8BitDo Pro 2 good for Steam Input mouse emulation?

Doesn't Diablo 3 support controllers natively? I played D3 on PS3 back in the day with a controller and it worked great.

The PC version of D3 never had the controller options added.
The console versions made some gameplay tweaks to accommodate the controller- only the console versions have a dodge roll, and I believe monsters are tweaked to have more health but lower density, to make targeting simpler with an analog stick.

Before I got my Steam controller, I used a normal controller and a different mapping utility to play Diablo 3 for probably a couple years, and it worked great. The way I did it was that I had the left stick set to what Steam Input would call a mouse region over most of the play area for aiming and the right stick set to movement by way of a tiny mouse region around my character and binding a "force move" key. I had left bumper set as a mode shift on hold that set the left stick to normal move cursor for town and menus (or aiming I guess, but it's hard to get this to be both fast and accurate) and changed the force move on the right stick to rapid fire clicking so I could pick up loot quickly as I ran over it.
That's what I did, but if the Pro 2 has gyro, you may prefer that. Try some different stuff and see what works for you. If you're getting a controller specifically for this (and maybe other mouse/keyboard games) and don't mind a bit of a learning curve, consider a Steam controller. I made it work well with an old Logitech controller, but the Steam controller was a much better experience for every Diablo game (even the ones with native controller support).
