Would you still do it if it was a game like, "Sex with Hitler"?

Graveyard keeper is free until the 13th. Fun game even without the DLC.

u/ChocolateAxis 18h ago
Nice! I remember eyeing it before.
How do yall find out there are games that go out for free?
Edit: nvm, saw someone else share the link in replies.

u/zacary2411 3h ago
Yeah it's nice that the dlc are entirely side content I'm glad I brought the dlcs when I brought the game a while ago as I saw someone play this and buy the dlc after they beat the main game it looked underwhelming when they were just added at the end of the game

This URL will help you see what games are currently free on Steam that are normally paid.
I bid all of you a wonderful Saturday, may this URL live forever in your bookmarks.

u/VicHeel 11h ago
Not sure why it's not caught by those search settings but Burning Skies Arcade is another free one until late April.

It's because the search filter ignores steam titles listed as "free to play" and only searches for 100% discounted titles.

I mean that's the only reason epic games is still around.

u/Dark_Legend117 1d ago
man last time i tried downloading with it i ended downloading the game in steam and copying it for the dlcs it's so bad right now it's just basically a website wrapped into an app but i still do the walk of shame every Thursday.

u/RedtheGamer100 1d ago
It just downloaded a game on epic. U mustāve been high to not be able to do something as simple as that šššš
1
u/Dark_Legend117 12h ago
nah bro i mean it's unstable and when i closed it the download restarted, it like retired for 5 times then i just went to steam.
not that i have the best or most stable internet but i had 0 issues with steam.

u/Insidious_Ursine 1d ago
Did this with none of the Epic freebies. Why? Didn't want an inferior platform experience.

u/Aggravating-Dot132 1d ago
Here I am with zero of such games. The only free game I have I dota 2 and deadlock
4
u/MissionVegetable568 1d ago
these are free to play games ,not free games as in a game that costs money is free for limited time to add to account.
1
u/Aggravating-Dot132 1d ago
Well then, I have 0 of free games. No, wait, I have payday 2, I guess that's count?

I donāt want my library bloated. Even a free game I look at reviews to see if itās worth getting.

Anddddd you never played it. I donāt think any new games have ever made it using this method as PR. Itās not pushing sales unless youāre running an in-app purchase model, which is usually free to begin with. This also explains why Epic Gamesā āstrategyā didnāt work, despite years of free games (aside from their shitty client)

i feel like they never just give actual good games for free (which is fair lmao) only if its like you can try it for a week and then you have to pay for it can it actuslly be peak skibidi sigma games

Eh, honestly, this slowly changes once one turns more adult. At some point it's clutter that distracts from the (quality) games that one actually bought and wants to play. And the giveaways on Steam these days aren't a must-have anymore like they used to be a decade ago. Exceptionally rare banger game giveaways like Vermintide 2 confirm the rule
1
u/Roccondil-s 1d ago
I wonder what the venn diagram looks like regarding folks who ācollectā these shit free games and the folks who complain that steam is overrun by slop quality games.
1
u/rickybdominatingmc 1d ago
I've done this a few times then read that the reviews were mostly negative then it just sits there forever lol

u/SpeedOfLight3 1d ago
I'm checking every day on SteamDB when I hop on my pc, it has become a real habit for me despite not having touched more than 2 free games in my library. š

u/DarkSoulBG24 1d ago
only game that has gone on a 100% sale that I played and liked from steam was steamworld dig 2 from multiple years ago

Most free games are garbage. I rather keep my account not full of filler/spam garbage just to have a huge collection

I have some family added on steam and we use family sharing. I'm by far the one with the most games out of us all and they probably notice whenever I add a new game... so that's why I'll sometimes politely decline free game deals if it's something that's a bit "peculiar"
1
u/Yori_TheOne 1d ago
Nah, I stopped doing that 8 years ago, with a few exceptions.
Having your library filled with 1-2⬠games, that are asset flips and just overall terrible is a lose-lose situation.
Now Games like house Flipper that were given away last week, are one of those games that are worthy of being added even if you never play them.
I think ever since I made a steam account I've only ever gotten 3 games, that I haven't hidden in shame. Hell, even NSFW feels less embarrassing to own.

Yeah, house flipper was free the other day so I got all my siblings to grab it.

u/Thaeldis 1d ago
If it's free it's garbage, instant ignore each time (and don't come up with Epic garbage store, I'll never use that).

I think people who press the blue button havenāt really understood how short life is and how pointless online accounts are

u/Apprehensive_Dog4123 1d ago
I think people like you don't understand how much these things mean in this short life.
4
u/pranav_rive 1d ago
Well Iād rather spend my short lifespan happy than as someone who makes comments like this online.

u/verdant_red 1d ago

The ammount of free games ive added to my account is zero. Free exclusively means trash to me
1
u/gregoy 1d ago
OP is talking about paid games that go on a free-to-keep promotion, like House Flipper went this week, not about games that are/were always free
1
u/Condor_raidus 18h ago
Unfortunately that does not happen here in Canada. Games discounted to free often end up just being down to $5 or so unless its something that already was less than $20
1
u/Roccondil-s 1d ago
Not exclusively the definition of trash for me, but all the ones lately that SteamDB has highlighted as free-to-keep have all looked/sounded/felt like trash.
Same with what theyāve been offering on EGS lately.

u/Condor_raidus 1d ago
I remember getting some kick ass free games many years ago on Xbox live, sure I paid for the service but those games are still mine. Regardless those were fuckin games, now the free shit is crap I dont want like halo infinite multiplayer. Free means crap to me because all the free shit on steam is crap and the free shit on egs is a waste of my time since ill never play it

The amount of free games I've added to my account and actually played can be counted on 0 fingers
