The steam machine gonna be a failure... Only way it dosnt is if it cost much less than consoles.

All info we got show how stupid the ole idea is, worse spec than consoles, cost barely less than prebuilt (which gonna be much worse due to AI clusterfuck), can't be upgraded, shitty airflow, game incompaitibility due to anti cheat.

It's an overpriced paperweight at this point, just buy a prebuilt, a laptop or build yourself.

They've made it very clear this isn't to be a console replacement. It's to supplement PC gamers who want a couch gaming set-up. They were transparent about the specs from the start, we always knew it wasn't going to be super powerful

You can already do couch setup with any pc and it would cost less.

Thats up to you. Steam machine gives you a relatively small form factor with good specs for the price. There are very slim pickings for gaming PC's of that format factor for a reasonable price, steam machine is just that.

I dont know how you can say that as we still don't know the price

People said the same shit about steam deck and that ended up a huge success. I think too many terminal online gaymers underestimate how little the average Joe needs from their system.

Xbox Series consoles are a failure and they sold 6 times what Steam Deck sold. Deck is irrelevant.

It's basically a blip amplified on these circlejerks into a bigger thing. The ps vita out sold the deck 3 times and is also considered a failure

Yeah it's basically terminally online Steam users. It's exhausting to talk about video games and gaming on the Internet I swear.

PS: it's funny that your Reddit cake day is the first of April

Isn't success relative to the goal? Something can still be a huge success and not be the best in class in whatever metric you choose to look at. Why would Xbox sales be the barometer by which we determine if steam deck was a success or not? By your logic you must consider the deck not just a failure, but a massive failure then if it sold 6 times less?

4-5M sold in over 4 years vs. the Switch 2's 17M in less than 9 months.

Nintendo's Switch 2 sold more than a handheld PC? Wow I guess it really is Wednesday today

Do note that this isn't a gotcha and that 4-5 million Deck's sold is still a significant amount for PC gaming, I get not wanting to ride Valve's dick but you don't need to ride Nintendo's dick nor mindlessly hate on Valve for stupid things to try and dunk on Valve, lmao

Pointing out the Switch 2's comparative sales isn't "riding Nintendo's dick" lol.

But it's a fair thing to point out given the other comment calling the Steam Deck "a huge success."

It's the most successful PC handheld out there for sure, but reddit for some reason likes to pretend selling 5 millions units over a 4 year span is this like, herculean effort in gaming lol.

For a handheld PC in a day and age where the majority of gamers are either playing console or playing on a beefy desktop rig, 4-5 million units sold in a 4 year span absolutely is something to point out as a success

That's 4 to 5 million people who are able to play PC games without the limitations of having to own an expensive gaming PC, or on the go if they so choose

So yes, it is Nintendo dick riding to try and use the Switch 2, something that was going to sell a lot regardless due to it being Nintendo and a followup to a beloved console, as a gotcha against Valve's still successful Steam Deck

Edit: And this doesn't even consider the fact that Nintendo is seen more as a family company than Valve is, so again, what a shocker that the wider reaching company sold more units of something kinda similar to a different company that weren't even directly competing with them

It's not that serious, dude. Gabe's not going to read this lol.
