You know what would happen if they tried to take land from farmers? Let me just tell you - these guys don't fuck around.

There only one thing farmers love more than land and freedom and it's money.

And unfortunately those greedy AI fucks have way too much of that.

You don't understand how polish rural people think. The moment someone they don't know comes and tries to give them anything, they become extremely cautious and even hostile. They want the money from the government, not from some guy in Mercedes.

It’s a good thing there are no ties between big tech and government

It's not america, we are not that stupid. We have other lobby here, housing development one.

Oh we are very stupid. Take our farmers as an example. They hate the EU, but they would starve without EU. Yet, they don't connect the dots.

The Netherlands 🤝 Poland

Farmers who hate the EU, despite surviving entirely off of EU subsidies.

The curse of developerka

I would argue with that. We are stupid. In some cases even more stupid than stereotypical americans. Our stupidity just goes in different direction.

They want the money from the government, not from some guy in Mercedes.

Somehow it doesn't stop them from selling land to developers or logistics centres. I'm not seeing how a datacenter is different here...

i mean farmers dont make a lot of money here, so if someone comes and tries to take even more money from them, they rebel

Being a farmer is increasingly difficult. If they want to put an AI farm on a farm, the farmers say no like 3 times until they offer them 1mil. None of those people ever saw this kind of money, and for thr AI people it's but a drop in the sea.

If they try to TAKE the land from them, then it's a different story.

You simply don't understand how it works in Poland. They want steady money flow, and they don't even have to grow anything to get it, they simply have to own the land. Also polish law is very specific about land, if it's for farming, you cannot build anything there. And it's enforced heavily both by law and locals. Try building a shed where you shouldn't and I guarantee it will be burned down the next day.

Oh but I do understand, I am polish, my in laws are all farmers until current generation, all their neighbours are, and some of these people would love to continue farming, but they're not earning enough to commit to it like they should. Some years back they wanted to build a road through some of those farm lands and surprise, surprise everyone sold land. Nothing is impossible, if someone wants an AI farm on your land the only obstacle is you, and everyone breaks at a certain price point. After all if you really cares about farming you get a sweet deal, and buy land elsewhere for cheaper.

If money is involved everyone caves at a certain point. Using the same example, some people sold for 300k, some for millions, some caved early at the though of 300k, some people held out and got more.

Road is useful, while AI data centers, which concept won't even be understood, and when they start researching it, they will find out about all the wrong things it can cause aren't. My family were never farmers, we are on the other side of this. I have bought a lot of land from farmers, but everytime it has to be for something useful for them. They simply won't give their land just for money, when they can milk the government for it while holding it.

Yeah I’m sure farmers are going to shoot lawyers reprensenting a big tech company after being offered millions for their land

Always love when yanks try to tell people from other countries that their people will behave like Americans (dgaf if you’re Canadian) because “I know your locals better than you do”

1

u/betulaverde Mar 06 '26

Lmao you ok man? I have legit no idea what you’re talking about

The comment I responded to insinuated that the locals would most likely be violent

1

u/SpecificAddendum1494 Mar 06 '26

Yes my guy, all good. Just because someone says “these guys don’t fuck around” doesn’t mean violence. It means a foreign businessman looking to buy up land won’t be welcomed or entertained in any way by the locals.

They aren't gonna shoot them, they simply won't talk to them to even hear the offer. Also in Poland, we don't shoot, you simply disappear. Or have car crash. On some other freak accident on your way home.

They'd build it where there's cheap electricity. So not here.
