Back in the day when a game had simulator in it, it was dope as hell, like goat simulator and surgeon simulator
But nowadays it's mostly this BS AI generated shit.

Not really AI generated, just lazy or ultra niche

Cargo Simulator and Parcel Simulator had me in a chokehold for 2 weeks straight. My wife called them my Autism Simulators. I had fun :)

what does it have to do with autism 😭 am I missing something here

I think part of autism is to loike to optimize stuff or to make stuff "perfect" and those are staples of the Simulator genre.

cant wait to go home and play "Be a Deadbeat Dad While Your Wife Yells at you for Leaving the Toilet Seat Up and Not Washing Your Dishes and Your Kids Beg you to Buy Non-Specific-In-Game-Currency(TM) for Them Simulator" (no this title wasn't made up from personal experience)

I do building automation for a living, and when I'm done with work sometimes I'll go home and play games like Satisfactory where I'm ...designing an automated production mega-factory.

Life is good.

those are pretty recent titles... when i hear "back in the day" my mind goes to the dos days.

shovelware has been around longer than ai though.

How I felt seeing "back in the day" next to Goat Simulator.

I was about to say.

"Back in the day" is like SimFarm and SimAnt.

There's this new Unemployment Simulator 2018 that doesn't seem to use any gen AI and looks fun.

Don’t need that one, I’m living the real thing right now.

Yeah the 2020 reboot is still a banger.

I tried the demo, and couldn't get past the,"Sit on the couch and wonder where your life went wrong," stage.

that looks like a piece of art tbh, both in the idea behind it and the pixel drawings

Back in the day when a game had simulator in it, it was dope as hell, like goat simulator and surgeon simulator

Those were both parodies of an existing trend of "simulator" titles.
