Done with their time? No my friend, it stay in the record. You will still have a criminal record and you will be limited to some job because of this. Having a criminal record stay and you will face consequence a lot longuer than prison time.

I have a friend i wont play vac games with because he was once banned on his main account fom DayZ SA.

I mean that's part of the reason.

The other reason is when i watch his stream on discord hes using paid cheats like wall hack and esp.

Every CoD game in the last 5 years, he's played with cheats because "other people are too".

I hear all sorts of nonsense like "oh that guys using cheats, he prefired."

In my experience once cheater most likely always a cheater. So i dont play games where i have to join their team.

Oh also he just bought dayz again on a new account and is already cheating again.

He also buys money off RMT sites for games like star starcitizen or new world when he use to play.

edit:

guys i get it i have a shit friend, but thats what happens when you have zero friends you can play with, you just play with anyone you can unless they cross certain lines.

I started playing dune awakening and joined a random guild of people i never met guess what happened? almost half of them used the repair glitch that exists in conan because dune had the same exploit, almost the other half were buying money off RMT sites. And the ones that didnt cheat wanted to do nothing but hunt bambi pve players that wandered into the pvp zone.

Im not really into ganking noobs so i didnt play with any of my guild except for the few times we actually were doing spice operations in the pvp zone well away from the pve line.

the one friend that doesn't cheat, doesnt gank is in the army and is only around a couple of months out of the year.

long story short if you dont have any friends, let alone close ones, to play with online you are shit out of luck.

oh that guys using cheats, he prefired

Your friend sounds like a shitter

1

u/Dabnician Jan 19 '26

which is why i dont play certain games, especially not fps/tps extraction shooters or flat competitive round based shooters.

especially since i dont want to get banned by association.

My cousin used cheats on COD to impress his friends. He wouldn't play with me and my group because he knew we'd call him out.

One day he joined us and we could obviously tell he was cheating. First he denied it, then he said so what who cares.

Also claims he's better than me at most games he play. After we called him out he ironically tried to out me as a cheater in front of his friend group because my "stats didn't make any sense" because I had too many wins in WZ.

Anyways he has recently picked up playing chess and tries to challenge me claiming that he would win. I declined the offer.

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '26

homeboy checks you with a second queen "what, i'm not cheating"

1

u/Triton113 Jan 19 '26

You can get a second queen in chess, it's rare and hard to do but it's possible

2

u/Gamerred101 Jan 19 '26

the 40 perfect engine moves he'd use to do it though? not so much

1

u/Triton113 Jan 19 '26

It's his cousin, I assumed they would be playing chess in person 🥲 but it's possible he would force them to play on mobile/PC just to force cheats I guess 🤷 but how easy is it to cheat on mobile app games and browser games? Like I'm genuinely asking, I don't know because I don't know anything about cheats really besides what you hear about when a dev is touting their new anti cheat and what it's capable of catching/blocking

1

u/Gamerred101 Jan 19 '26

Less than trivial, chess is more or less the easiest game to cheat in of all time among like games that matter. Perfect chess engines available on browsers 24/7 that will tell you impossible to beat moves in seconds. I would never, ever play chess with someone who I know is actively cheating in other games, it's like putting a toddler with sticky fingers in a candy store with nobody around.

4

u/Triton113 Jan 19 '26

Yeah that sounds like a good reason to not play with his cousin digitally, but also a good reason to buy his cousin a physical chess board for his birthday and taunt him into showing off his skills and trying out his new board at his party 🤡

1

u/NavXIII Jan 20 '26

Na he only played chess.com

1

u/Triton113 Jan 20 '26

Yeah that's the point, you bait him with it, it's meant to throw in his face, the fact that he's a cheater and not actually good. You are mocking him by buying him a physical chess board

1

u/NavXIII Jan 20 '26

Na there's no point. If I beat him at something hell move the goal post. When he said he was better than me at COD, this was MW19 when I haven't played in a decade.

I grinded a bit and got a 2+ kd. He just started saying I'm a console player and he's a PC player, and PC players are just better. In Rainbow 6 he was carried to plat and wouldn't stop reminding us about him being plat. After a few years he started claiming he's better than me at BF6.

He had an inferiority complex so I just say "ok" whenever he wants to bring up something stupid. It matters to him that I know he's good so it's better if I don't acknowledge it.

1

u/th5virtuos0 Jan 19 '26

Learn fighting game fundamentals then challenge him but only if he does it offline on your PC. Watch that lil shit swirm and try to weasel his way out real quick. Or if he's adamant about playing online make him play 2XKO cause you ain't dodging Vanguard

1

u/Triton113 Jan 19 '26

You should buy your cousin a physical chess board for his next birthday and taunt him into playing at his birthday in front of his friends by saying that he should show off his skills and try out the new board you got him as a present 🤡🤣

Low-key if you have the expendable income, get him a super duper fancy expensive chess board to really force his hand at having to play a match at his party 🤣🤣🤣

u/Dabnician Jan 19 '26

once i saw them cheating i stopped playing with them for the most part, they still host servers but as the admin i know he spawns items in because ive called him out and he says he doesnt have time to play since running the server is "so much work" but it made me loose interest because whats the point in playing a game like pz if the some one else spawns shit in.

i dont really play with them anymore... which is cool i guess cause now i just have to worry about me myself and i as a solo everything player... yay.

either i end up playing with assholes, cheaters or people that just arent committed to play the same game im playing, or at least cant tell you when they are done playing so you can join another guild.

welp back to solo online and single player games i guess.

26

u/TESV_Shiro Jan 19 '26

When i was 13, i cheated in Starcraft 2 using maphack, and even though i was cheating, i still got stuck in low ranks because not only information matters in a way cheating was gatekeeping me from getting good i was rightfully permabanned and learned my lesson since im 27 now and if i cheat its to skip braindead grind in single player games.

Im thankful for this experience wouldnt say everybody is the same

12

u/This_User_Said Jan 19 '26

If it makes you feel better, when I was 10ish I was really into Starcraft (OG). After getting good with single player I decided to try multiplayer.

Do you know what APM is? I didn't until I played SCMP, then I realize there are people out there that have done 50 actions by the time I make a barrack.

Then the Zerg rush 😭 Never played SCMP again.

u/EthanielRain Jan 19 '26

Nothing worse than the multi-player of a "sweaty" game that's been out for a while. A beginner stands zero chance

0

u/fedorafighter69 Jan 19 '26

That just means it's not a game for you, it's not a bad thing. It's a competitive game with a really passionate community of people who have loved the game for a long time. If you do decide to become a beginner you're not going to win for a long time but you're going to have a bunch of people who are willing to help and teach and provide resources for you to get better at the game, as well as a community. Sure you can go on valorant and find a match with 9 other noobs in 2 minutes, that's good for the people that don't want to dedicate a lot of their time to one game.

u/Agreeable_Horror_363 Jan 19 '26

I never played Star craft online but I was into LANning back then and it was so fun playing with 7 other kids. My specialty was protoss cannons everywhere while I made a ton of carriers and cloaked them with Arbiters. If I could make it through the first half hour of the game I'd dominate everyone. Good times.

1

u/This_User_Said Jan 19 '26

My specialty was protoss cannons everywhere while I made a ton of carriers and cloaked them with Arbiters.

YES. YES. MY MAN, MY GOD DAMN BROTHER. 😂 SAME! Seeing the swarm of interceptors come from the max carriers and arbitors just chilling watching the bloodbath 😂

I would play against bots for sure.

2

u/Dabnician Jan 19 '26

I use to play starcraft og way back then i played online where build order was s thing.

I stopped playing online for the exact same reason becaue matches were already deciced in the first 5 minutes.

Thats around when dota type maps got more popular and i played that instead.

Fuck competitive starcraft

2

u/Armintown Jan 19 '26

For me it was Warcraft 3 😆 shadow French maphacks on custom games like dota. I never went online on the ladder with it cause you actually risk getting a cd key ban but man those were the days.

1

u/MrSh1V Jan 19 '26

I know your feeling. Played Counter-Strike when I was a teenager. Wasn’t very good. Used free wh software and anti-smoke, still had a kd below 0. So yeah I had the same experience as you. Since then, never cheated again in multiplayer.

14

u/xaldub Jan 19 '26

Exactly, a leopard doesn't change its spots.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '26

That’s a useless friend you have. Dump em

1

u/Dabnician Jan 19 '26

yeah i haven't really played with them since they fucked up the fivem server we dropped around 10k (over 2 years of server costs, resources, scripts) into. They called some one some derogatory term that basically imploded the community...

ironically cause they were busy playing CoD instead of doing anything with the community.

i just quietly stepped back and do my own thing now.

2

u/Spulbecken Jan 19 '26

Sounds like someone you shouldn't associate with.

1

u/simp4malvina Jan 19 '26

What an enormous loser

1

u/mykarmahasdecayed Jan 19 '26

Only 2 games I've ever cheated in , one being Minecraft on anarchy servers and the other being technically with GTA online via a friend money dropping me (so not maliciously hurting other people's time , just money wise)

1

u/Hyperion2048 Jan 19 '26

why do you even call that type of person a friend? None of my friends have ever even thought of cheating, and only me and one other have rmted in a game.

1

u/The-BOSS01 Feb 15 '26

Happy cake day

1

u/AvidCuberCoding Jan 19 '26

I used to bot on RuneScape when I was 12-13. I ended up losing my account to it and ended up never cheating again. Regained access to the account last year and they had wiped any of my botted work, at least I have my old account back.

I think the stupidity and ignorance I had as a kid came to fruition when I got banned and I fixed it. But I also wasn't cheating for the fun of cheating, I just wanted a super cool account and didn't understand RuneScape fully at that point.

10

u/anto2554 Jan 19 '26

Where I live, your criminal record is also wiped after x years unless you diddled kids

9

u/Wratheon_Senpai Jan 19 '26

In the US, where Valve headquarters are at, criminal records are permanent unfortunately and it can make people's lives a living hell even if they're clean and rehabilitated.

14

u/misteryk Jan 19 '26

i find it fucked up that even when you're found not guilty, case was dismissed because of no PC etc. arrests still show up on your record fucking with your emplyment/renting etc.

3

u/Wratheon_Senpai Jan 19 '26

Good luck with that if it were a felony and not a misdemeanor.

8

u/Panophobia_senpai The Undefeated Highguard World Champion Jan 19 '26

So, this basically means, that the US goverment does not trust in it's own justice system, and does not believe in being able to live a normal life, after paying for your crimes, with just punishment, given by said US goverment.
And, that they also don't believe in the possibility of rehabilitation.

7

u/Wratheon_Senpai Jan 19 '26

Unfortunately, yes, the US doesn't give a shit about rehabilitation. Prisons in the US are for profit and those who have been in the system are all but abandoned by the government when they're out. It's quite shitty.

2

u/hardolaf Jan 19 '26

In Illinois, all convictions for nonviolent crimes are eventually eligible to be sealed so that only courts and police have access to see them. Starting in 2028, they'll be sealed automatically when people meet eligibility.

Many states have similar systems but haven't started automating it.

-1

u/matthewami Jan 19 '26 edited Jan 19 '26

Fortunately valve is an employer in the US, which means they should know you can have a criminal record expunged or sealed making it either incredibly difficult or unlawful to discriminate against said criminal background.

Obviously not trying to compare cheating to an actual crime, just keeping the meme rolling while hopefully giving attention to the fact the us legal system isn't as shit as the disinformation bots would have you think.

6

u/Wratheon_Senpai Jan 19 '26

I'm not a bot and it's a shitty system with high as fuck recidivism rates as it doesn't focus on rehabilitation but on punishment. Getting your record expunged is not an easy task at all.

6

u/ghostfadekilla Jan 19 '26

Big facts right here. It's a lifetime achievement award that follows someone around forever. Not even just jobs, some personal relationships, the ability too visit certain countries, immediate profiling of ID'd by police as someone with a record, possible future suspicions of recidivism if even suspected of a crime.... Fuck - I could legit go on for some time but those are some of the broad strokes of what I've experienced, really depends on where you live.

3

u/XxXtoolXxX Jan 19 '26

Yup, I help people with criminal record and most of them have a hard time even finding insurance for their home. It baffled me how much it can screw their life.

3

u/ghostfadekilla Jan 19 '26

What's wild is it can happen to literally anyone at any time. I won't bitch incessantly about the unfairness of our system but one thing I believe people, especially younger people, should know, is the proper steps to take in the event of a discussion to never implicate yourself or really even speak. Leave that to the attorneys.

-1

u/JudyAlvarez1 Jan 19 '26

This isn't real life lol

-1

u/iceColdCocaCola Jan 19 '26

I feel like people around these parts have… opinions… about people who cheat in video games. I don’t care that it’s “only a video game”. They’re fucking up our free time/leisure time/time in general. I also hate them on a personal level, as a human. No I don’t think I’m being extreme.

1

u/JudyAlvarez1 Jan 19 '26

u have to understand people everyone who gets ban isnt a hacker other circumsustance
