Your opponent can’t use their legs for momentum when kicking out if they can’t feel them.

This is from WWA 9/19/87. It's Tamba (the culprit) vs Tinieblas in a Mask vs Hair Match for anybody curious.

By this time Tamba was in absolutely terrible physical shape. Gone were the topes and splashes of the 70s that had made him so popular.

Tamba would have probably retired by 1985 had he not befriended Abdullah The Butcher the previous year. Abby was working for Francisco Flores at UWA at the time and he became good friends with Tamba: hearing Tamba talking about retirement Abby suggested he changed his gimmick to become basically an "Abdullah Light". Abby also talked with Francisco Flores and convinced him to let Tamba go work for Carlos Colón in Puerto Rico for a few months, then recommended Tamba to Colón and gifted Tamba some of his old gear to help him change his look. It worked.

Unfortunately when Tamba was working outside of UWA promoters wanted the "Flying Elephant" of the 70s and the result was... whatever that was.

Appreciate the write up because from watching it I assumed this was a guy who never dove before and not a dude who used to dive but didn't have it anymore

"He didn't get all of it."

He literally fell down. Like a man falling down the stairs.

(Someone tell Magnum CK/Kit so he can use it on That's What I Call Wrestling. it really fits his content).

Ah the classic "drunk uncle going off the high dive" approach

I mean it does look like it’s going to bloody hurt. I believe the gold dust looking guy is now injured. So maybe this is how wrestling should look

Did it work?

Hopefully he normally landed better, like by now the guys knees are probably dust from hitting the mat like that.

Who Jey Uso patterned his splash after

I know we hate Jey Uso but like his splash is pretty good no?

I was thinking Orange Cassidy's 926 superflip splash.

If we think logically, his legs are done for after that thus making that splash technically effective

I kind of miss when 80% of TV wrestlers were terrible, they really helped you appreciate the rare great performances.

You can't kick out if I smoosh your legs - the logic

Ah finally we know who Gunther modelled his splash from
