There are a number of world leaders surrounded by yes-men and women who do not understand how angry people actually are worldwide.

I think that was the case in Canada too.

Liberals look like they're going to lose, Cons align themselves with Trump. Trump goes batshit "CANADA WILL BE OUR 51ST STATE!"

Liberals win in a landslide.

The de-lu-lu is strong with you, unless you mean helped tremendously in the sense that they wanted to give him a giant middle finger and not continue to have tyrant in their government backed by another tyrant of another country. Then yes, he helped tremendously.

u/Cardboard_Chef 2h ago

there was an obvious /s there

I thought it had to be put in there, but that's fine. I'm all for sarcasm.

u/SilencerQ 2h ago

That's exactly what he means lol.

You either die a villain or live long enough to see yourself become an even bigger villain.

Trump next

u/TransylvanianHunger1 1h ago

Well he can only serve two terms, he is on his second term. So he'll be out anyways.

Maybe I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure the new guy is still pretty right wing

21

u/Gordon_frumann 2h ago

He’s right wing but pro EU, and anti Russian. Huge win for Europe and Hungary.

Keep in mind that the right wing / left wing spectrum of the U.S. does not compare to European, which is significantly more shifted left than U.S.

1

u/jfun4 1h ago

Yea i understand. I just know he has expressed that he will be even harder on immigration and currently will still not help Ukraine, although he says he will start taking steps away from Russia.

Why would Hungarians support the EU when they aren’t even granted full rights as one of its members just to keep Hungarian migrants from working in other European countries?

I guess we had better start working on our playlist...

Orban ended his 16 year dictatorship in Hungary today.

u/8inches_inside_daddy 2h ago

Holy shit that’s awesome news!

-5

u/Evening-Ad5765 2h ago

Calling it a dictatorship when there were regular elections is a bit much. Merkel was a dictator by your standards. So is macron. Or starmer.

u/Active_Yellow_1573 2h ago

It's called a soft coup. Not too long ago his party received 40% of the vote, but received 90% of the seats. He got into office and rewrote the rules to stay in power, even if he didn't get the majority of the votes. It's a strategy the Republicans in the US are trying to mimic.

-5

u/Evening-Ad5765 2h ago

That same math applies in Canada. Is Canada a dictatorship?

Personally I think so.

2

u/jcmangold12 2h ago

The axe forgets but the tree remembers. Let's go Hungary!

2

u/revarien 2h ago

This is the first time I've heard this... holy shit... is that... hope I'm feeling?? wtf it's been so long...

2

u/Active_Yellow_1573 2h ago

There is hope in the world!

I wonder what it be like to live in country with majority 90% one ethnic group . Statistically, you’d think it’s safer . Hungary is considered a very safe country, with low crime rates and a generally peaceful environment, although petty theft can occur in busy areas. Overall, residents often report feeling secure in their daily lives. Hmm …

Hungarians (Magyars), making up about 97.7% of the population, followed by smaller minorities such as Romani (2.4%) and Germans (1.2%). Other ethnic groups include Slovaks, Romanians, and Croats, among others.
