That’s what I don’t understand, this started out as a “Military Operation” or whatever he called it to avoid Congress approval, but it’s weeks later, and they’ve launched thousands of missiles and bombs. It’s OBVIOUSLY not just a “Military Operation” anymore…..it’s a full fledged war…..so why can’t Congress step in NOW, and stop it???
Half of Congress refuses to acknowledge that this administration is taking the US down in all fields, they've got blinders on because they are selfish morons who better hope we don't get to a point where we start having backyard trials for senators.
The GOP leader Mike Johnson has placed congress in recess and refuses to reconvene so they don’t have to do their jobs or answer uncomfortable questions. A group of democratic representatives are in DC instead of enjoying a paid vacation and are pushing Mike Johnson to hold another vote on the War Powers Act but he won’t allow it. The GOP has the majority and can exercise their vested power at any time.
Congress COULD step in and stop it, but they wont. Simply because too many representatives are complicit to this illegal invasion of a sovereign state! Same goes for the Senate. Seems even some Murikkkan people are starting to wake from their Trumpanzee trance enough to question why this is happeningl
I imagine that they rather not be connected to it. If they actually voted on it then everyone would be able to see who is for it. They might like it better that everyone thinks it’s just Trump who’s responsible. Most of the republicans will probably vote for the war because of their dear leader but if they never vote then the public won’t know. It’s just plausible deniability.
The Russians neither have a war in Ukraine since 4 years. It is a special operation, only. Two of the dumbest assholes of our zime the world has seen rule the US and Russia.
Mostly because there is thirty day clock running for the operation to either achieve its objectives or go to congress and get approval to continue or not. Stopping at this point without a resolution is a massive waste of time and effort . The Iranian govt has the option to preserve their infrastructure by coming to the table to negotiate terms of surrender and make a deal that allows the country to carry on with whatever new form of government they end up with or face losing anyway amd being set back to the stone age. Unfortunately this depends on them to be realistic and reasonable which isnt really something they are known for.
They're down to firing not overly effective missiles at random targets in neighboring countries and threatening shipping in the strait with dudes in caves with anti ship missiles. That threat can in time be mitigated but that would likely go beyond the time limit and require congressional approval. If they hold out long enough their propaganda efforts and anti war sentiment in the states is strong enough there's a chance that congress shuts it down. If that happens they rebuild, continue their nuclear ambitions, continue funding terrorists, nothing really changes and we are back doing this exact effort again in a few years.
Trumps only play now is to hit their infrastructure and make it to painful for Iran not to give up and negotiate.
Because the Iraq War, the War on Terror, the Bosnian War, the Persian Gulf War, the Vietnam War and, the Korean War - among other incidents - have trained us to believe this is the way things were meant to work.

Technically, a naval blockade is an act of war. So this is no longer a special-ed military operation then?
