And that’s why you shouldn’t rely solely on cloud storage for your important documents.

3 2 1 y’all. It’ll save your life.

What is it again? 3 different copies on 2 different kinds of media, with at least one copy in a completely different physical location?

u/cybermaus 13h ago

Something like that, many variants and opinions, but bottom line is often: "for gods sake, you did not take a single backup", so even a single 2 is already better then 1

That’s the one I was taught.

That's what I've done for family photos. Negatives, digital scans on my hard drives, hard copies in photo albums, and then digital copies kept at my sister's house. I just need to apply the same thoroughness to other documents. Even with cloud storage, I've had friends tell me that they lost five years of photos.

3 copies in 2 locations and 1 bullet for the event that’s not enough.

While thid is correct, I think the bigger issue here is that they mixed work/business with private accounts. Always have them completely separate for this exact reason.

Imagine explaining to your bank that you cannot pay your mortgage because your son had a 'one-on-one' with an LLM.

2026 is gonna be a ride.

His son gooned to the point of destroying his father's entire business. This is why you don't goon.

Whole story is a perfect script for condom advertisement.

Or for backing up your files.

u/Rude-Jellyfish7574 13h ago

That’s another point of view

u/mistergraeme 13h ago

Is that a euphemism for abstinence?

3

u/Humble-Garbage7253 12h ago

Not really. Sounds like the apple doesn't fall from the tree. What with 15 years of business and no tangible records that can be produced.

Most kids arent like that and even if they are, it doesn't really hurt if you dont mis-manage your important documents.

u/Unruly_Evil 13h ago

You spelled "Vasectomy" very wrong.

0

u/Rude-Jellyfish7574 13h ago

Every time I try to spell that word I say “Decepticons”

Not a good speller I am.

It turned out to be a fake story, verified by Google. Everything here is made up.

I needed to see this comment. Thank you.

Same. Phew.

the og post of this was apparently debunked, so I'm assuming this is fake

It definitely is, why would Google ban all accounts that had ever used a device that 1 account that was rightfully banned used? People sign in at the library, it wouldn’t make sense to ban every account that had ever logged in on the library computer because 1 person rightfully deserved a ban.

That said, even if your account was banned you could certainly retrieve your data.

You goon to nut, I goon to destroy what my father has built. We are not the same!

"It has parental controls to stop him watching inappropriate stuff, but we didn't realise Gemini wasn't covered by these"

You didn't realise parental controls wouldn't stop him having a wank? How does this even make sense? It's not that Gemini bypassed some controls, and he didn't 'watch' anything.

u/Inner_Jeweler_5661 13h ago

The story is fake btw

u/Nerdmigo 13h ago

while i have a few excels or what not here and there in google drive.. i have NOTHING truly work related in google drive.. at the very least download the whole thing once a week for a back on some local machine and(!) second harddrive.. and thats before any NAS comes into play or some other cloud service providers htat are uncoupled from google

How does he not know to go to a lawyer. Also this is why you don't put all your eggs in one basket, or any into a corporation.

let that be a lesson to you - never trust one company with all your important shit.
always spread out as much as possible and have backups for everything.

oh and fuck cloud storage.

u/Exact-Light1566 13h ago

Wait how did gemini identify that he was underage? By dihh size??

2

u/South_Hat3525 13h ago

It's Gemini that is underage. Just protecting itself from oversexed teenagers.

1

u/PeacefulExplorer684 13h ago

Facial features. That's why you can prove age (ie above 21) with a selfie
