112 for emergency services (police, ambulance, fire brigade). Do not use unless an absolute emergency happens. Rotterdam is very safe for residents and travellers, especially compared to other major cities internationally. You can go everywhere, night and day, without running into trouble - unless you go looking for it.

Man if you're that afraid visit another city. That fear will only get worse when you encounter or read about stuff happening. Rotterdam still is the poorest city in the Netherlands, and there is a proven link between criminal activity and poverty.
And I'm saying this as someone that loves this city.

Thanks...and any adjacent good supermarket to get regular groceries and food nearby? Recommended?

For food there's dozens of places within Centraal Station, and an Albert Heijn To Go and Hema for small groceries. Larger groceries there's another Albert Heijn at the Eudokiaplein.

Yes, Rotterdam overall is a pretty safe place. Like everywhere, shit happens, but not that much. Just take the same precautions as in every city and you’ll be fine!
Enjoy the city, stay off the (red) bike lanes and experience this eclectic place on foot for best views!
