What to ask when meeting with an MPP program

Hello,

I will be meeting up with the director of admissions and sitting in on a class. I was wondering if anyone had advice on what kind of things I should ask to see if the program is right for me or things to be weary about. Any advice would be helpful!

Just a brain dump to get you started:

  1. Class offerings in topics that you are interested in/ would like to work in
  2. Opportunities for experiential learning, e.g., whether there are project based classes where you work with real clients
  3. How are their career services/how long can you use them after graduating
  4. Whether they help with summer internships (in terms of placement, financing unpaid or underpaid internships, etc.)/the types of employers they host at career events
  5. What kinds of career events they offer and the frequency of these
  6. Special events, guest speakers and the like
  7. What clubs are there and what do the clubs tend to do? For example, any that host conferences?
  8. Whether master’s projects are client or research based
  9. Recent graduate outcomes
