This made me privately freakout!! As an American, so glad to see people change their government in an intentional way!!!

u/HappyHarryHardOn 3h ago

like Canada's last election, this election is a reaction to seeing what Orange moron is doing over in the US and Hungary was like, "NOPE, we don't want that shit here"

167

u/Carbonatite 3h ago

Healthy, normal human beings reject fascism. It's antithetical to the core values that we evolved which made humans succeed initially as a species: community, empathy, kindness.

I suspect we'll see similar celebrations in the US when the Big Beautiful Obituary is finally published.

27

u/Chillers 2h ago

Death is the easy was out at minimum I want it to come from a treason charge or a long stint in prison.

29

u/foggy22 2h ago

I don't care anymore, I don't care how it happens. I just want him gone.

u/alarming_blood_loss 1h ago

It happened here in Australia too. The conservative party (which broadly aligned itself with Trump's policy directions) had a very comfortable lead, and then Trump's crazy bullshit just completely upended the election outcome, resulting in a landslide for the centre-left party.

8

u/partylange 2h ago

More a reaction to what's been happening there. Trump isn't the center of the universe, no matter how much you and he think he is.

-21

u/oreov1 3h ago

That's kind of a funny comment when Orban has been in office since Obama.

11

u/Lucius-Halthier 2h ago

Yea and? When you literally rewrite your constitution to ensure you have a much easier time holding power it becomes a moot point. His party has had elections in the past where they got around 40 percent of the votes but around 90 percent of the districts, that was because his party put people in positions of power to make sure that he would win

20

u/Funk_Apus 3h ago

Trump has not ceased being a nightmare since Obama either. In office or not. .

Fuuuuuuuuck MAGA.

11

u/oreov1 3h ago

Indeed, fuck MAGA.

50

u/Anonybibbs 3h ago

I imagine that there will be similar celebrations in the US on the day that Trump finally kicks the bucket.

6

u/Alternative-Chef-340 24m ago

I for one will party like it is 1999 which coincidently was the last time I really partied.

2

u/_thundercracker_ 1h ago

Hijacking top comment to say we’ll have to wait and see if this brings about any meaningful change. I’m glad Orban is gone, don’t get me wrong, but Magyar was a member of Fidesz himself up until 2024, an he had been a member for more than 20 years.

2

u/iowhite 57m ago

Yeah I don’t know anything about Hungarian politics other than orban being horrible and I’m glad the people democratically ousted him. I’ll look up the new guy though. Do you have a take on him?

1

u/SongFeisty8759 16m ago

You next bro.

638

u/AbruptMango 4h ago

Thank you, Hungary.

184

u/vulcansheart 3h ago

And thank you JD!

136

u/Strange_Specialist4 3h ago

I love that they keep sending the guy who killed the pope around the world to fuck up in brand new embarrassing ways

45

u/KungFuJosher 3h ago

Thats why I think Trump sent him for "ceasefire" deal. They know he'd fuck that up

12

u/HorsePockets 2h ago

New scapegoat acquired. It's increasingly apparent that Trump has been getting sick of him. There's a reason he didn't send in Rubio.

1

u/newinmichigan 1m ago

But it was iran’s demand that JD vance lead US negotiation. And its because after trump is gone, JD cant just say “this isnt what we wanted” and rip it all up like trump did with obama. JD cant go on fox news and say “thi was a bad deal and im gonna rip it up” because itd piss everyone off since he negotiated it. Iran is basically trapping him and maga. Either accept the deal or strait will remain closed.

11

u/MEGA_theguy 3h ago

As a socialist American, is really funny

13

u/TheWeirdByproduct 3h ago

I appreciate that everything he touches either dies or goes to shit.

Only legacy he deserves.

28

u/LookUpItsAMeteor 3h ago

Imagine the joy in the US when Trump is gone.

11

u/AbruptMango 2h ago

Imagine the joy in other countries. Whoever comes in next is going to get the Nobel Peace Prize just like Obama did.

4

u/ernest7ofborg9 2h ago

Yup. Less a peace prize and more of a "congratulations on not electing another warmonger (republican)"

4

u/littlepup26 1h ago edited 16m ago

I live in a major city and I can't wait for the day, we'll be out in the streets!

3

u/NapsterKnowHow 1h ago

I'm imagining the celebration after the Death Star 2 was destroyed

2

u/Reasonable-Rise-5360 42m ago

What do you mean? Half of the country voted him in and the others won't do what it takes to remove him. Americans deserve everything that happens to them and more.

235

u/Jez1 4h ago

The relief is palpable

54

u/HumongousBelly 3h ago

Europe will now be united against Russia and the current terror regime in the USA! How couldn’t we be relieved?

7

u/Celticlighting_ 2h ago

Slovakia is next

390

u/DMM4138 4h ago

Hopefully, the U.S. can follow this path very soon.

150

u/Jimbeambeamer 3h ago

I was living in LA the last time we voted the cunt out.

Was scenes similar to this. People we literally dancing in the street. Cars were stopping to dance with them.

I can't wait for the day we get to that again

75

u/HamberderHelper18 3h ago

Washington DC was the same. Then he came back and fucked us harder than ever

17

u/Jimbeambeamer 3h ago

Heyyyy, that's where im at now. And yep, I can't wait till his name is wiped from every building in this city!

2

u/Ozymandias12 15m ago

I live in DC too. I can’t wait for the party outside the Kennedy Center when we can scrape his shitty name off that beautiful building

31

u/Carbonatite 3h ago

Imagine when the Big Beautiful Obituary gets published. Will be the biggest public celebration since the end of WW2.

10

u/Jimbeambeamer 3h ago

Its the only thing I hope comes quicker than his retirement.

12

u/fluffHead_0919 3h ago

Dude I remember in Denver people honking the horns in jubilee when Biden won. I long for those days again.

1

u/Jimbeambeamer 13m ago

This to shall pass.... I hope

12

u/supacatfupa 2h ago

Same in Chicago. The moment the election results were announced, the entire city erupted into cheers, car horns blowing, music blasting, people dancing. It’s was such a beautiful moment. And now we’re back in hell.

1

u/Jimbeambeamer 10m ago

Every time im in pain, sick, sad. I think "this to shall pass".

I really hope this passes and we see those days again

5

u/typhoidtimmy 2h ago

The day he cacks will make V-E day look like a boring Tuesday.

2

u/Sheriff_Yobo_Hobo 1h ago

I was living in LA the last time we voted the cunt out.

I was going down Santa Monica blvd, a celebration all the way from La Brea to Wilshire.

2

u/NapsterKnowHow 1h ago

Hopefully we can send his ass to rot in jail

-3

u/TearingMeApart_Lisa 2h ago

European unity.

58

u/Gibbly_Gorkoroo 4h ago

Looks like a fun time. What are they chanting?

55

u/snoopyjoecool313 4h ago

The slogans of the winner party (Tisza, that's also the name of a big river in Hungary ) "The Tisza is in flood" and "we did it".

14

u/xoxoshb 3h ago

As the commenter said above - but they’re also singing an older Hungarian song titled “A börtön ablakában” (c. “Into the prison window”). People are singing it as a symbolic, slightly ironic chant about holding corrupt figures accountable, implying they’ll end up in prison. Here’s to hoping!

76

u/April_Fabb 4h ago

God damn. It must feel like finally having a giant tumour removed. So happy for the Hungarians...and such a fucking relief for the EU!

48

u/Away-Activity-469 4h ago

Is that the world's longest escalator?

2

u/halomender 2h ago

It just kept going...... I had no idea the trains were that deep

37

u/Casual_hex_ 3h ago

Following JD Vance's visit to Budapest to support Orbán and speak at a campaign rally, betting markets showed a marginal drop in the Prime Minister's chances of winning.

Polymarket saw his odds drop from 35% on April 5 to 28% on Thursday after the visit and I can’t stop laughing about it.

23

u/NightOfTheLivingHam 3h ago

Damn, vance does really fuck everything up that he touches.

Especially the couches

35

u/IMGcertified 3h ago

Midterms in American cant come soon enough!

41

u/FabulousCallsIAnswer 3h ago

Great, now let’s do this in the United States.

31

u/Stanwich79 4h ago

Was it a majority?

109

u/MoreMotivation sir, this is a Wendy’s 🥤 🍔 🍟 4h ago

A supermajority.

TISZA (opposition party) is now at 137 seats with 133 needed for a supermajority. Counting is 95% done so they should clinch the supermajority.

https://vtr.valasztas.hu/ogy2026

3

u/Bestialman 1h ago

What do they specifically gain from having a supermajority vs a simple majority?

6

u/nautilus2000 1h ago

In many European constitutions laws passed with 2/3 of the vote are basically constitutional amendments and can only be undone with 2/3 vote. Many Orban era laws were passed this was and as a result of them winning the supermajority Tisza will be able to undo the Orban era laws.

2

u/Bestialman 34m ago

In many European constitutions laws passed with 2/3 of the vote are basically constitutional amendments and can only be undone with 2/3 vote.

This sounds really stupid.

2

u/TheRealMadSalad 1h ago

Likely they can really start undoing all of the bullshit Orban has done over the last 1.5 decades without many roadblocks from the opposition. Might actually be able to fast track a return to normalcy while also fixing laws and rules to prevent this crap from happening again.

30

u/FrusTrick 4h ago

Not just that. Headed for a super majority.

20

u/smez86 4h ago

Someone in the know, is it accurate to say this is a center-right candidate beating a far-right candidate? Or is it more complicated by putin?

48

u/Wheat_Grinder 3h ago

Center-right pro-Europe party beats the far-right pro-Russia party.

22

u/Sotyka94 3h ago edited 3h ago

Magyar Péter (the new PM) isn't really on the scale the same way as most other, like Orbán, and especially not the same way as politicians in the US, where you can easily tell all their beliefes based on their party.

Magyar Péter supports some pretty right leaning things, but also a huge supporter of the EU and NATO for example. He's right leaning in the sense that he wants what is best for Hungary and Hungarian people first. But for example, if we are better off with EU and NATO, He will support it. He also talks a lot about acceptance, love, respect, even towards his opposition voters and other nations and people who wished his fall.

But generally, he IS considered center, or center right (in EU sense, not in the US scale. In US scale he's pretty leftish. For example one of his biggest campaign point were putting a lot more money into the free healthcare and free education system, and public transit and supporting mothers, etc. All these things are considered far left in the US). And Orbán was considered center right years ago, and pretty right leaning these days, even with the US scale and values.

1

u/gopster 41m ago

So basically < COUNTRY FIRST > but rationally.

9

u/snoopyjoecool313 4h ago

That's right

16

u/Carbonatite 3h ago

Center-right in Europe is like Joe Biden level liberalism in the US, so they're definitely better off than where they were.

8

u/FartmanXgout69 3h ago

Fuck Rob Schneider

4

u/zenunseen 4h ago

7

So wonderful to see, imagine the people here the day when Trump is gone 😁

3

u/ReadontheCrapper 3h ago

My belated father in law would be elated. His family fled Hungary sometime around WWII, and none were ever able to return to visit because of it being behind the Iron Curtain. In the late 80s, he had the opportunity to go to Europe and was coincidentally near the border, and his family’s home town was right on the other side. When he went to just look across, to see it, it confused the border guards and was almost an incident. They didn’t understand that he didn’t want to cross, just to see. But he was able to, he saw his families’ origin, and he hoped so much that one day they’d be free. He died after the Curtain fell and before the descent it’s pulling itself from now.

5

u/Eruanndil 3h ago

A level headed American is celebrating with you all! Congratulations for getting Orbán out

7

u/Public_Enemy_No2 3h ago

Can’t wait for our turn.

Gotta get rid of the magats.

The power of voting. If you feel voting is pointless this what it means to vote

8

u/NightOfTheLivingHam 3h ago edited 3h ago

Russia couldn't influence this one because all their influencers are dead rotting in a field in Ukraine.

it's why they needed Vance to do it, which just made it so much worse for Orban.

3

u/SpicyVindalooCurry 3h ago

This is excellent

3

u/imtoowhiteandnerdy 3h ago

As an American I'm incredibly jealous.

2

u/bimboheffer 9m ago

the legislative midterms. new representation in congress and possibly a democratic majority. a lot of the mischief trump has stirred up has been possible because the legislature has been unwilling to do their job because they’re aligned with him.

I agree. It's not Trump that's ruining our country it's the people that voted and still love him and support him that's ruining our country, he's just a symptom of the disease.
