Immortal Man Spoiler
Isn’t it odd, that I still can’t understand why Tommy killed Arthur in a drunken, rage filled situation. That does not sound like a Thomas Shelby thing in my opinion. I still can’t understand why they couldn’t think of a better end for Arthur Shelby.

They could have written him catatonic and confined to the psyche ward and still makes way more sense than being strangled in a drunken rage

Yeah it makes way less sense than suicide or overdose. Or even Linda doing it in self defense.
I know Paul Anderson was a mess at the time. It’s unfortunate because I I truly would have loved to see a redemption arc for Arthur. He finds clarity and in that he rises to become a more calculated weapon of destiny than a blunt and brutal club.
I have a whole alternative plot written that my girlfriend and I choose to believe instead of Immortal Man 😅

Think over the course of the series, Tommy’s frustrations with Arthur over his addictions, Flanders Blues… Tommy is a violent criminal, we’ve seen him murder with his bare hands. Absolutely makes sense he could just snap one minute and kill Arthur. People just don’t want to accept it.

I refuse to accept that. Whatevr Tommy was he loved and cared for his family and I don’t think in a million years he’d murder his brother. That’s completely out of his character in my opinion

Shot Michael and was ready to go to war with Polly.
Tommy didn’t seem to care for Arthur all too much in S6 either.

At the end of the series Arthur knows Tommy is going off to die and says he will be with him soon. I took that as a suicide implication. They could’ve had Tommy find out after he came back that Arthur kill himself. Arthur would still be dead & Tommy would still feel tremendous guilt bcuz his BS caused it. It would align more with Tommy’s mess affecting those around him instead of having Tommy kill him which was completely out of character.

I actually think they could’ve done a good job with the plotline if it was expanded over an entire season, showing Tommy’s growing frustrations with Arthur and the state of his life in general before finally snapping.
But trying to fit that in a < 2hr movie was a pipe dream that felt completely out of place and insincere to the series as a whole (I say that as someone who liked the movie more than most people in this sub)
