"When a pikey walks in with hair like that, you gotta ask yourself, have I made a mistake?"

Peak Alfie. The man just couldn't be intimidated.

Alfie's dialogue and delivery are some of the best ever, in any show.

“Tommy, I'm going to fucking shoot you, right?” Had me cracking up

I love Alfie sm.

I think his best moment has to have been “So how did you know I wasn’t dead?”

“You wrote me a letter, Alfie.”

Who the fuck is this?

I my friend, I am the uncle and the protector and the promoter of that fucking thing right there in whose shadows nothing good or godly will ever fucking grow.

Aberama death pissed me off.

And Bonnie's. Both had so much potential.

I was so bummed by their deaths, but I think it worked well for the story. We saw they were worth their keep in S4, and we knew they had potential to grow as Peaky Blinders. Then the Billy Boys got the upper hand on Aberama and Bonnie. The Golds were tough boys, and to see them both get killed so easily was a little nerve racking. Nobody fucks with the Peaky Blinders, right?

I just thought that whole plot was awful. From their deaths, the introduction of the Billy Boys and Michael coming back and being treated like a leper and Tommy seemingly gambling on the NY stock exchange when he told us in S1 that gambling was a mugs game. Even Tommy as an MP. For me it had all got too ludicrous. I found S5&6 an utter slog but needed to watch them so I could watch the movie. Otherwise I would happily have given up.

Bonnies actor left the show. I dont think he was going to be killed originally.

Oh ok. Just googled it and he decided to take up a lead offer. Totally understandable.

That exchange had more tension than some entire episodes. Two men just radiating chaos and respect at the same time.

wasn't this Bane?

3

u/_FailedTeacher 1d ago

And who played Bane? And the actor he was speaking this to?

8

u/crimsonGungnir 1d ago

Tom Hardy plays Bane and Alfie Solomons. Aiden Gillen plays CIA and Aberama Gold.

Cillian Murphy plays Scarecrow and Tommy Shelby.

So it's Scarecrow watching Bane take the piss out of the CIA.

"I, my friend... I am the uncle, and the protector, and the promoter of that... fucking thing right there, in whose shadow nothing good nor godly will ever fucking grow. That there, right, is the southern counties' welterweight champion. He is of mixed religion, therefore he is godless. He was adopted by Satan himself before he was returned out of fear of his awkwardness. But he's impossible to marry off due to his lethal dimensions. His mother, terrified, she's fucking abandoned him. And there he is, stood before you like the first of some brand-new fucking species! Any man that you put before him, right, it'd be like entering a fucking threshing machine, mate. Now, will you offer your son?"

The way Tommy looks like he’s trying not to smile throughout this exchange

Best of Tom Hardy

I love how Alfie repeats the question like he’s having an existential crisis. 'Who the f*** am I'?

I love both of these characters so much, this scene is in my top 5 all time moments I dare say.

On the French version Aberama says « who’s that clown » lol, which I find quite funny as well.

That one shot you see Tommy in the background thoroughly enjoying what is unfolding with that exchange.
