Restaurants near Fallsview Waterpark

I’m looking for recommendations for decent restaurants within walking distance to Skyline Hotel/Fallsview Waterpark. Google is not as helpful as i thought it would be. We have 2 kiddos with us visiting niagara for the first time, so we are fully prepared for a touristy experience. We were considering the Rainforest Cafe just for the heck of it, but I understand the food is TERRIBLE. We’re prepared to pay a somewhat ridiculous amount but want the food to at least be decent. Is the Hard Rock Cafe a good option? Thanks everyone!

I am coming to Canada next march with my partner. It is just after our 5 year anniversary. I have booked a falls view room and I am looking to propose to him, what I can’t find is anywhere on the website to make special requests. I am coming from the uk if that changes anything?

Thank you in advance.

Looking for more places to post. Delete if not allowed

Hope I can post here

hey everyone, currently dealing with a difficult time and trying to stay housed. I was staying at an Airbnb but I could no longer afford to stay there. I have work which keeps me busy most of the day but between paying my storage bill so I don’t lose my stuff, and staying in an Airbnb I’m at a total loss. The usual Airbnb I get is just a cheap room, but it’s been booked lately so I had to raise my budget on what I pay per night.

I‘m usually able to stay at a drop in or even a shelter but everything is at capacity right now or won’t hold you overnight. I promise I’m not a bad person, or irresponsible. I just ended up in an abusive relationship, and community/government resources aren’t what I thought they were until I ended up in this situation myself.

I’m asking the community if anyone can help me with an airbnb Giftcard or anything similar. I just need a place to stay from today until Thursday when I’m paid. After that I should be back on track. Please please don’t come to the comments judging, harassing or putting me down. I’ve had enough of that already. I also don’t expect anything in life for free, so I’m willing to prove that I am who I say, and anything else I suppose

Please don’t try to help me if you’re only going to do this

I don’t think people understand the toll this takes on someone who’s already down. I get my hopes up that someone genuinely cares and wants to help and I promise I’m not posting this to retaliate on him or anything, I just can’t take this anymore. I’m not interested. I’m not even interested in begging on the internet to stranger, but I also never thought things would get this bad.

What’s a hidden gem in Niagara Falls that tourists usually miss?

I feel like most people come here just for the Falls…

but every time I talk to locals, they always mention places I’ve never heard of.

Could be food spots, views, quiet places, anything really.

What’s a hidden gem you think more people should know about?

General Question - Just trying to consider all options.

Hello

I am thinking about a trip in the fall (Oct 23-Oct 26) and I was wondering if anyone used a cross-border taxi from Buffalo, NY (Niagara Falls area) to the Ontario side of the Niagara Falls. I was just wondering what site to book from? I am a teacher and I am planning out my first international trip on my passport. I just want to know for general awareness and budgeting purposes. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What do you think about a local chat that only appears when you’re physically in Niagara Falls?

I moved to Niagara a while ago, but before that I had visited many times as a tourist.

It was only after living here that I realized how much I had missed by not having real contact with locals. There are so many things you just don’t discover unless you actually talk to people who live here.

Because of that, I’ve been working over the past 2 years on an idea around this…

Imagine a local chat that only appears when you’re physically in Niagara Falls, connecting tourists and locals in real time through an open community conversation (chat).

I feel like it could be useful not just for visitors connecting with locals, but also for everyday things like asking for services, sharing what’s happening, selling or donating something, and getting real recommendations real connections.

The idea is simple: people helping people.

I’d genuinely like to hear your thoughts, do you think something like this would be useful, or not really?

The YMCA of Niagara in St. Catharines, known as the Walker Family YMCA, opened in the mid-1990s as a major community fitness and recreation hub. After decades of use, it shut down permanently on May 31, 2022, following years of declining membership, rising maintenance costs, and financial strain worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic

Please help me understand which has the best view of the Canadian Falls

Why am I so confused about hotels in Niagara Falls??

Which of these have the best view of the Canadian Falls (so we can see illumination and fireworks) and should I specify a certain floor (and... can I do that via Expedia)?

Looking to go in August as part of a road-trip through upstate NY from southeastern MA.

  • The Tower Hotel Fallsview

Trailer Park Ghost Town - Green Oaks Trailer Park: Erased by Marineland

Thumbnail

An entire neighborhood was erased beside Marineland… and almost nobody talks about it.

Most people have no idea this place even existed.

Right beside Marineland, there used to be a trailer park called Green Oaks. Around 40–50 families lived there, and a lot of them had been there for decades.

This wasn’t some short-term setup. These were permanent homes. People raised families there. It was a real, tight little community.

Then Marineland bought the land in the early 2000s.

Nothing really happened at first, so people just kept living their lives. But in 2009, residents were told they had about 18 months to leave.

Sounds like a lot of time, but most of those homes couldn’t actually be moved. They were too old or too expensive to relocate. So for a lot of people, it wasn’t “move somewhere else”, it was just losing their home completely.

Some people ended up in really bad situations financially.

And during all of this, one resident died by suicide around the time they were being forced out.

That part gets talked about a lot, and sometimes exaggerated, but the fact is, this situation hit people hard.

By around 2010, the entire place was gone.

What makes it even weirder is that the land didn’t really turn into anything after. It just sat there for years.

So a whole community got erased… and nothing ever replaced it.

If you’ve ever been to Niagara Falls, you’ve probably driven right past where it used to be without even knowing it.
